Chapter 944: Toddler with Titles

Chapter 944 – Toddler with Titles

Lux paused. "I have been called many things, but never a toddler with titles."

"You’re welcome."

He glanced toward the hallway.

"Do you think Lullaby and Gula know?"

Sira considered it.

"Not sure. Maybe Gula knows a rumor. Maybe Lullaby heard something from Sloth archives. But honestly? All of us are still young."

Lux hummed.

Young.

Right.

In Hell, two hundred years meant enough time to develop trauma, wealth, enemies, and taste in coffee.

But ancient script from before modern elf houses?

That needed someone old.

Really old.

Lux and Sira looked at each other.

The answer arrived at the same time.

"Yue."

The room went quiet.

Then Sira grinned. "See? We can be smart together."

"Miracle."

Lux closed the book carefully with Telekinesis and slid it back into the box without touching it. "Where is she?"

"In her room," Sira said. "She mentioned cultivation."

Lux stopped. Turned slowly. "Cultivation?"

"Yes."

"In this modern time?"

"Shocking, I know."

Lux stared.

Sira shrugged. "Yesterday, she borrowed some of Ely’s healing crystals to amplify her cultivation progress."

Lux blinked. His Greed brain immediately sat upright inside his skull and put on glasses. "She can use healing crystals to increase cultivation efficiency?"

Sira smiled. "She’s an ancient dragon."

"That explains the audacity, not the mechanics."

Lux picked up the box with Telekinesis and stood. "Let’s go."

Sira stood too, stretching lazily.

Dark-gold light folded around them.

A heartbeat later, the living room vanished.

They reappeared in the guest wing.

Specifically, outside Yue’s room.

Lux could have teleported directly inside, but he had learned several things today.

One, ancient dragon women deserved privacy.

Two, divine women had no respect for bathrooms.

Three, he was trying not to become the same kind of menace he complained about.

So he knocked.

Politely.

Sira looked at him.

"What?" he said.

"You knocked."

"I have manners."

Sira tilted her head. "You can just teleport inside."

Lux gave her a flat look. "I refuse. I only do that in emergency cases."

Then he adjusted his cuff with offended dignity.

"I’m a gentleman. A gentle devil."

Despite the knock, no answer came.

The air inside the room pulsed faintly.

Lux’s eyes sharpened.

Energy.

Dense.

Structured.

Slow-moving.

Like a river beneath stone.

"C’mon." Sira opened the door gently.

They stepped inside.

Yue’s room was simple.

Surprisingly simple.

Especially compared to Mira’s.

Mira’s dragon taste leaned toward elegance, wealth, dominance, and enough luxury to make mortal interior designers cry into marble samples. Yue’s room was quieter. Almost bare. A low bed. A table. A few folded clothes. A ceramic tea set. A painting of a mountain partially hidden by mist. No excessive gold. No jeweled screens. No declaration of status.

But the crystals changed everything.

They sat around the room in a careful arrangement, placed with mathematical precision. Healing crystals from Ely’s supply, pale green and blue, glowed softly from the floor. Some were connected by thin threads of light. Others floated half an inch above the surface, rotating slowly. The air smelled like rain, leaves, and something old enough to make Lux’s instincts stand respectfully in line.

And there, at the center, sat Yue.

Meditating.

Or cultivating.

Lux wasn’t sure which term felt less absurd.

She sat cross-legged on a cushion, hands resting lightly over her knees, posture perfect. Her long hair fell down her back like water. Her breathing was slow. Almost too slow. Around her, faint streams of energy moved in circular patterns, entering through the crystals, passing through the air, then folding into her body with delicate precision.

Lux froze.

Completely.

This was the first time he had seen something like this up close.

Not combat.

Not spellcasting.

Not system-based leveling.

This was different.

This was not taking power by force.

Not killing.

Not consuming.

Not converting artifacts.

Not signing contracts with one’s soul like an overachieving idiot.

This was refinement.

Accumulation.

Patience.

A creature sitting still and becoming stronger through discipline and time.

His Greed brain became deeply interested.

Offensively interested.

Demons had to fight.

Mortals had to train, sacrifice, bleed, or level through structured systems.

Angels advanced through divine hierarchies, trials, blessings, and authority alignment.

But Yue?

She just sat there.

And the room bent itself into helping her grow.

Lux stared.

His mind immediately started building models.

Energy intake rate.

Crystal amplification.

Core refinement.

Breathing rhythm.

Circulation pattern.

Compatibility with demon core?

Possible? Dangerous? Inefficient?

Could this be commercialized?

No. Bad thought.

Could this be optimized?

Also bad thoughts.

Could this replace sleep?

Now that was interesting.

If yes, he could replace sleep with this and still level up.

Sira leaned closer and whispered, "You don’t want to say something?"

Lux didn’t take his eyes off Yue. "We’ll wait."

Sira blinked. "Really?"

"She’s busy."

Sira smiled faintly.

There it was again.

The Lux people didn’t always see.

The one who could be arrogant, possessive, greedy, and insufferably confident, but still understood when not to interrupt someone’s quiet.

Then Yue spoke.

"I’m done already."

Her eyes opened.

Lux’s spine straightened slightly.

She knew they were there.

Sira smiled. "We didn’t interrupt?"

Yue looked at her. "Not enough to matter."

Lux slowly lifted the box with Telekinesis. "We need your help."

Yue’s gaze shifted to the box.

The moment her eyes landed on it, her expression changed.

Only slightly.

But Lux saw it.

Recognition.

Not complete.

She stood gracefully, the crystals dimming one by one around her.

"That," she said softly, "is not something demons should open carelessly."

Lux glanced at Sira.

Sira glanced at Lux.

"Wonderful."

Yue approached, eyes never leaving the box. "Where did you get it?"

"Ely found it."

Yue’s fingers hovered above the lid but did not touch it either.

So Lux wasn’t being dramatic.

Always pleasant when ancient dragons validated paranoia.

Yue looked up at him. "This is older than the current elf bloodlines."

Lux’s gaze sharpened. "How much older?"

Yue’s expression turned serious. "Old enough that the elves who wrote it may not have called themselves elves yet. It came... from around my time."

Lux stared at the book.

Then slowly smiled. "Well." He tilted his head. "Now I really want to read it."
