Chapter 98: Shocked

The lake was quite big at a single glance, and there was an abandoned small boatyard too.

"According to the last report, this place is quite heavily infested with Dead Walkers, so it is considered one of the dangerous areas," Anna spoke and came out of the vehicle.

Lukas and Leah came out too.

"Well then, Leah, do you want to test your strength first?"

Leah took a deep breath and shook her head. "Say, what are the chances of me succeeding in getting the skill?"

Lukas thought for a moment before saying it upfront. "Less than ten percent, I guess, unless you kill level three ones."

Leah sighed when she heard that before deciding to ask him about the uncommon skill. She had already come this far, now there was no going back.

"Lukas, what do you want in trade for that uncommon skill?"

Lukas got surprised. He was sure that she knew what he wanted. Asking him so openly, wasn’t she afraid, or did she think that he would hesitate just because Anna was here?

When Leah saw his expression, she spoke again. "Anna knows everything."

"Oh." Lukas got surprised again. So they had that deep a bond, huh? Well, that made things even more enticing. "What I want is very simple, you, till I am satisfied thoroughly."

Leah trembled and took a deep breath when she finally heard it.

"Is there really no other way?"

This time, it was Anna who spoke while sighing.

Lukas shook his head. "Nope. Look, you don’t know what lengths I have gone to grab that skill, and I want maximum returns. Right now, Leah’s warm depths are my maximum return."

It was true in a sense since he had a feeling that he would get a special bundle. That special bundle was very important for him. This was why he wanted to use trade to do it, as she wouldn’t agree any other way.

"So this is how you talk. You really are a sly bas— cough! Sly guy." Anna coughed as she felt it would be too much to call him that.

Lukas smirked when he heard that. He thought that his words might make Anna a little irked, but she didn’t seem to overreact.

"Well, Leah, what will you do?"

As Lukas said that, he suddenly took out the lightning skill orb into his hands.

Anna and Leah got taken aback before becoming stunned.

"W-where did you take it out from?" Anna was certain he hadn’t brought it with him.

"Just a simple trick. Maybe one day I will tell you." Lukas’ lips curled up.

Anna had a feeling what type of scenario he was thinking about. "Humph, I am not falling for that cheap trick."

No doubt she was interested. Bringing things out of thin air was definitely not as simple as he said.

Leah’s eyes were fixed on the orb flickering with lightning after the initial shock. Every second she watched it, she wanted to grab it.

The thing she wanted was just a step away, but it seemed that she had to sacrifice herself to cross that step.

She had come here with the intention of discussing if there was another way, although somewhere deep in her heart she knew that it would end up like this. So had she subconsciously agreed to accept Lukas’ terms before even coming here? No way, she didn’t believe it.

Leah gritted her teeth. "I-I will tell you later."

Lukas raised his eyebrows before shaking his head. "Alright."

He put away the orb and took the bow into his hands.

"Well then, if you want to accompany me, you can."

Although he showed that he was a little disappointed in her delaying it, he wasn’t bothered much because he could sense Leah’s resolve faltering while saying that.

When Leah heard that, she got reminded of yesterday. She wanted to avoid that situation.

Anna smiled. "Well, if you don’t mind slowing down, then we can accompany you. Surely you won’t leave us fragile women here, right?"

Lukas smirked. "I need only about thirty crystals, so I don’t think you guys have to sit on my lap."

Leah got dumbfounded. He was definitely teasing her.

After that, they moved inside the forest and began hunting.

Anna now firsthand felt how strong the bow in Lukas’ hands was. "Damn, it’s good. Must be rare grade, right?"

Lukas smiled with a little mischief. He wondered if they would believe him if he told them about it. Well, he wasn’t afraid of telling them, so why not?

"It’s not rare grade. Instead..."

He stopped slightly and pulled the bowstring to the maximum.

"It’s epic grade."

He let go of the arrow.

BOOOOMMMM!

A loud explosion rang out as the arrow hit a tree, burning it instantly.

Leah and Anna were thoroughly shocked at the intensity of the attack, and when they processed what they had heard from Lukas, they became stunned.

"E-Epic grade?" Anna had never heard of this grade. No one knew about it, in fact, since there had been no news of something like that before the internet went dead.

Lukas didn’t say anything and simply began moving.

Anna and Leah looked at each other, still not believing what they had heard before following him.

Rare weapons usually came with an element, and they could be activated in a similar way to how Lukas activated his bow, so there was still a possibility that it was just a level three rare weapon.

"That was a joke, right?" Leah felt that Lukas was just teasing them.

Lukas, on the other hand, threw his bow towards her without saying anything.

Leah instinctively caught it, and as she was curious, she immediately looked at its status.

"W-what?"

Seeing the first information about the bow’s level was enough to shock her since that attack was unjustified for its level, and when she saw the grade, she shook her head in disbelief.

"Leah, don’t tell me it’s true." Anna could easily read her expression, so even without asking, she understood that what Lukas had said was the truth.

Leah came to her senses and passed the bow to Anna.
