Chapter 94: Just Lucky

Lukas was satisfied inwardly. ’As expected, she had become more tolerant toward me.’

After a little hassle, they both came down and Lukas collected all the crystals and tied up some of the loot. He hadn’t used the inventory in front of Leah.

They hunted a little more in the area before Lukas decided to head back, "Let’s go back through a different route.."

Lukas doubted he would be able to complete his target today, they had wasted a lot of time on the tree. Although, he would do the same if he got the chance too.

The dynamic between them had changed a lot after what had happened. Leah had been trying to avoid talking to him but if he asked something then she would answer.

The usual cheerful personality which she showed to him at the start of their hunt had disappeared. Now her expression looked like a mix of sadness and guilt.

Lukas didn’t know if she would stay the same when they met with the others or if she would just show fake smiles for their sake.

"Leah.."

"What?"

"Want to fight a D beast?"

Leah thought for a second before nodding, "Alright.."

It didn’t take long for them to find one, it was a dog lying under a tree far down the terrain.

"D beasts have superior battle instincts so you better be careful.." Lukas warned just in case, even though he knew that Leah was aware of these things.

Leah nodded and suddenly thought of something, "Should I use a bow too?"

There was a level two bow in the loot they got and after seeing how effective a bow really was, she wanted to try it.

"Well, you can but if you miss then you have to be prepared to face it so keep your sword with you." Lukas gave her the level two bow and backed off a little.

Most bows above level one came with illusionary arrows of the same level like the Starry Bow.

Leah took her stance and when she felt that her aim was perfect, she let it go.

The arrow moved swiftly but it landed just a little short of its target.. the distance was too much for Leah to accurately target it on her first try.

"Dammit.." Leah cursed softly and tried to hit it with another arrow but the dog was already alert and coming towards her.

In the end she let go of the bow since she felt that it was impossible for her to hit it while it was running.

She grabbed her sword and got ready, dogs weren’t the strongest of the level two D beasts and in the past she had killed some so she wasn’t much worried.

"Grrrr..."

The dog jumped towards Leah and she took one step back while slashing towards it.

The sword hit the base of its neck and sliced through it.

"Grrrrrr... grrrhhhh." The dog fell just shy of her feet and began thrashing on the ground.

It didn’t last long and it died...

A single loot dropped from it in the form of a Canine Dagger.

"Phew..." Leah sighed in relief.

"Good work.."

"You can take the crystal.." Leah offered the crystal.

"Alright.."

They collected everything and moved on...

As the sun finally began to set they came back to the original location and saw the vehicle.

"Finally.." Leah took a deep breath of relief, she had been trying to avoid Lukas all the way till now and it was becoming awkward.

"You guys sure took your sweet time, we were getting worried here.." Anna sighed in relief before her eyes went to the loot Lukas was dragging.

"Hehehe... sorry about that, Lukas was very engrossed in hunting that he didn’t care about time," Leah came near them and sat on the rock beside Leon where they all were sitting.

Leon hugged her by the shoulder and sighed in relief too, he was a little worried and also jealous all this time even though he trusted Leah completely.

"Ohh, how many did you guys kill?" Anna asked as she became a little curious.

Leah shook her head immediately, "Too many, I even lost count of them, there were even a lot of level three beasts.."

Hearing that was enough to stun the others, till now their team hadn’t come to a situation where they would be unable to count how many zombies they had killed... yet with only a team of two they had done something like that... well technically only one since they knew that Lukas was the only one who had done something like that.

Lukas went directly to the military vehicle and loaded all the loot.

"That is a lot.." Nathan wasn’t able to hold himself back from speaking.

"Sure is.. what do you expect when they killed so many?" Leon shook his head.

None of them became happy though, they knew that all of this belonged to Lukas.

"Shall we go back?" Anna stood up and patted her hips to clean off the dirt.

"Yeah let’s go, I am so tired that I just wanna sleep right now.." Leah stood up too and the others followed.

Lukas had already sat in his seat waiting for them.

As usual Anna came and stood beside him in the hope that he would give her the seat...

Lukas wondered what she would do if he slid over to the other side and made Nathan sit in the middle... although he thought that, he shook his head internally as she would definitely not like it and he wasn’t planning to give Nathan a chance for something like that.

He slowly slid to the middle and Anna entered inside and sat with him.

Lukas was feeling very horny right now due to all the interactions with Leah, he even wondered if he could make some kind of move towards Anna too... although hearing her story he had a feeling that she was a hard-to-get woman too...

As Lukas was thinking that he heard Leon’s voice.

"You really are strong Lukas.."

"I am just lucky..." Lukas answered modestly.

"By the way, what are you gonna do with all that loot?" Leon was interested in the spear he had seen and Leah told him that it was level three...
