Chapter 18: Done!
The unending system panels that announced his rewards only further confirmed its death but Allen simply ignored it for now.
He quickly regained his balance and looked at the second Hopper who lay on the ground as black blood flowed out of its chest.
"Heh~"
A cruel plan formed in Allen’s mind as a smirk appeared on his face when he saw the Hopper struggling.
"You know, looking at you like that makes me want to test out my theory on whether if a zombie has high intelligence does their sensitivity to feeling pain increase as proportionately." Allen said as he began to walk towards it.
Once he reached within its arms’ distance, he held its left hand and... pulled it.
RRIIIIIPP!!
"HHRRGAAHH!"
The Hopper screamed in pain as it felt its arm being torn off from its body.
"Aha! So the theory is correct! Although you probably don’t feel as much pain as a normal human would, it still seems good enough to me. Thanks for the help man. In return, let me give you a gift... of death."
Wheesh
Allen summoned his machine gun and kept his finger on the trigger before he pointed it at the Hopper that looked at him with a pain filled expression.
"Say hi to Satan for me."
DUDUDUDU!
Black blood splattered everywhere as Allen riddled its body with countless holes.
"Much better." Allen said with a smile.
’Ah! Where’s Donovan? I completely forgot about him while fighting.’ He thought, walking towards his original position.
"...!"
Allen’s eyes widened like saucers as he stared at the scene before him.
Donovan stood tall, covered in dark blood as he held a steel pipe in his head. Three Grade 1 Undead corpses were littered near his feet with grievous injuries.
Allen was bewildered to say the least. However, he quickly regained his composure and pointed the machine gun at Donovan with his finger on the trigger ready to pull it at the slightest hostility.
"Hm?"
Donovan turned around and his eyes met Allen’s which looked like a predator looking at its prey.
In fact, his eyes narrowed even further when Donovan turned around.
"Um... sir? Is everything alright?"
"..."
Allen visibly tensed once he heard Donovan’s subservient voice but he still kept his guard up and his finger on the trigger.
"You bastard, you’re much stronger than I thought. How much of your strength are you hiding?" He asked but didn’t show a hint of worry.
"Me? Hiding my strength?" Donovan asked, confused.
It was at that moment realization dawned on Allen.
It wasn’t that Donovan was hiding his strength, rather he had just apprehended him way too quickly for him to do anything about it.
’Ughh... I feel like a fool.’ Allen groaned inwardly.
’But still, his strength isn’t nonexistent or even abysmal as I’d initially thought.’
’It seems like not only is he good at engineering but also at fighting.’ He thought, impressed by the display of strength Donovan had shown.
"Ehem. It’s nothing."
Allen simply coughed and waved off the topic.
But Donovan seemed like he wanted to say something and opened his mouth.
"Sir, it isn’t me who is hiding his strength but rather you from my perspective." He said, his eyes on the two dead Hoppers.
"They were nothing. Either way, we’re done with this area. We should move on to other places." Allen said, not wanting to discuss much about his abnormal strength.
Donovan also didn’t push him for answers, knowing full well he wasn’t in a position to do so. Allen was his master albeit ruthless, a resourceful one who had unique methods to deal with his foes.
"Um, before we go can I take a shower in one of the intact buildings?" Donovan said meekly.
"..."
Allen was about to say no as he didn’t want any more delays. However, the pungent stench coming from Donovan made his nose wrinkle in disgust as he agreed.
"Fine, see if you can also find a fresh set of clothes." Allen said with a nod.
"Thank you!" Donovan said with a smile.
===
While Donovan was showering, Allen used this chance to look at his rewards.
"Hehe~ this is good." He said with a small smile, his eyes fixed on the rewards.

Allen was pleased with the amount of SP in his account.
’With this, I finally have enough SP to buy the Stellanet Router.’ He thought.
’But, I am curious about something.’ Allen thought as he accessed his inventory and brought out something.
It was a Bullet.
Not just any bullet, it was a Bullet from the Super Market.
Allen scanned the bullet with his eyes.
It was the shape of a small marble.
However, there was something unique about this bullet.
It was universal.
As in it could be fired from any gun.
’Truly versatile I must say.’ Allen inwardly commented on the object in his hand.
From what the System told him, the bullet changes its shape depending on the gun it’s being fired from.
Initially, Allen thought the price tag of 5 SP per bullet was too high. However, after learning of its mechanisms, he realized that it was a pretty good deal.
Donovan didn’t take long and was good as new after just 10 minutes in the shower.
"Let’s head out then." Allen said.
"Yes, sir." Donovan nodded.

Four hours later,
"Hoof... we’re finally done." Allen heaved a breath of relief as he looked at the clear skies.
"Haah... haah... haah..."
Donovan laid on the ground as he gasped for breath.
They had finally finished culling all the zombies in the Wion Neighborhood!
