Only if Ruan Chanchan knew the truth. She pursed her lips and nodded in a low voice. "I see."
Anyway, it did not matter. As long as the two of them were caught, she would be able to stay safe. Ruan Chanchan wanted nothing more than that. As for the rest of the things, she would think about them later on.
Queen Rong was surprised when she saw the calmness in Ruan Chanchan’s voice. Not everyone could stay calm in her presence, especially when they were schemed against in such a manner. "Make sure you fulfil your promise." Queen Rong added with a firm voice. "I do not wish to break the oath that we have taken. But if you do not respect the promise that you have made with my son, then there is a good chance that I will go to war with your tribe. I don’t want to cause any trouble, but I will never let you abandon my son either."

"Don’t worry, I have no intention of abandoning him." Ruan Chanchan indeed had no intention of abandoning Rong Xian. Xiao Xi had told her that these two mers were the key to her soul stabilising in this world. Since that was the case, she would never do something as foolish as abandoning a prince, and that too after sleeping with him.

"The same could be said about me." Ruan Chanchan had hardly taken a step out of the cave when she ran into Chief Xie. She paused and looked up at the woman, who had cornered her out of nowhere.

Chief Xie did not respond. Instead, she looked at Ruan Chanchan with a stern gaze in her eyes. "You better not do anything to abandon my son either. Though my son is not a prince, he is no less than one. If you dare to do anything to let him down, just see how I will deal with you." Chief Xie was worried that Ruan Chanchan would take this chance to abandon Xie Daiyu. After all, Rong Xian was a prince, while Xie Daiyu was just a small chief of a tribe. What would happen to her son if Ruan Chanchan’s heart started to tilt toward Rong Xian more?
Then what would become of her son?
Ruan Chanchan was speechless. She wanted to cry and make a fuss. Why did these people treat her so badly? Even if she were to use all of her wits, the chances of her abandoning the two mers were close to none. Did the queen and the chief think that it was that easy for her to abandon the two mers? Those two were like predators of the darkness. If she were to abandon them, did these two women think that she would be able to get away from them?
If so, then they were overestimating her way too much!
However, given the situation, there was nothing that Ruan Chanchan could do but smile. It was not like she could speak up about what she was feeling at the moment. Because no one really cared about it!
"Of course not, chief. How can I even think about abandoning Daiyu? He is the father of my child."
"Children," corrected Chief Xie causing Ruan Chanchan to pause and look at him in silence.
"What?"
"Children. You are going to have more than one child."

Ruan Chanchan was shocked, but Xiao Xi was just as shocked. He knew that the mer was going to give birth very soon but he never knew that he was going to give birth to multiple children at once. He turned to look at Ruan Chanchan as if silently asking her what she was going to do about this situation. However, what was Ruan Chanchan supposed to say?
She herself was just as surprised!
Chief Xie saw the stunned look on her face and was amused. She said to Ruan Chanchan, "You’d better take care of my son, Chanchan."
With a pat, she turned on her feet and then walked away, leaving Ruan Chanchan to stare after her.
"What are you going to do now?" Xiao Xi asked while looking at Ruan Chanchan.
"What do you think I need to do in this situation?" Ruan Chanchan glanced at Xiao Xi. Other than being a good partner and taking care of the children, was there any other option left for her? She did not think so!

Soon, the time for the Big Bear Tribe to leave for their tribe arrived. Ruan Chanchan did not have many things to pack and soon cleaned up the cave where she was living for the time being. However, just as she was about to leave, she could not help but pause and look at the space where she had spent countless weeks.
"What are you thinking?"
"Nothing," Ruan Chanchan replied. She turned to look at the mer, who was standing behind her with his arms crossed and was looking at her as if she had done him some great personal wrong. "What’s the matter?"
"Oh, nothing," the mer responded lazily. His eyes flickered as he looked around and remarked, "It seems like you are going to miss staying in this cave." His eyes narrowed as he added, "Or maybe you will miss staying with a certain mer?"
Xie Daiyu did not mention it, but he was extremely jealous of the fact that Rong Xian was also Ruan Chanchan’s mate.
"Of course not." Ruan Chanchan hurried over to where Xie Daiyu was standing and took his hands into her own. "What do you mean? How can I miss this place when you are with me?"
