Chapter 458: Chapter 458: Things Don’t Look Good
"That’s enough! Don’t say another word!"
Humiliated and furious, Kuris let out a low growl.
Kira had voiced his innermost thoughts.
He had always been the weakest of the four members of the Hundred Flowers Clan, the one with the faintest presence.
Even the residents of Flying Flower City didn’t know that a member of the Hundred Flowers Clan was named Kuris.
Everyone only remembered Lady Rose, the Thunder General, and the Wise Man.
He alone was unknown.
Like a Windflower on the roadside that no one would notice even if it were trampled to death.
Kuris craved greater Power.
Kira had given him this opportunity, promising that if Kuris seized the Power of the Hundred Flowers God, he would grant him the Power of a mightier flower seed.
Kuris struggled for a long time before agreeing to help Kira.
Kira had contacted Kuris a long, long time ago.
Because of Kuris’s unique ability as a member of the Hundred Flowers Clan, no one knew that even while trapped in the Peach Blossom Spring Realm within the Poison Dragon Cave, Kuris had maintained contact with Kira.
The Black Cultists at Kira’s side had "died" before Alice and the others returned, all thanks to information from Kuris.
Kuris had revealed Alice’s plan to Kira, who then orchestrated this little play for Alice’s benefit.
Kira still needed the Power of the Black Cultists, so he wouldn’t easily abandon his "comrades."
Alice landed on the ground. She stared at Kuris, her eyes vacant, frozen to the spot and utterly bewildered.
She had never imagined that Kuris, who had taken care of her for so long in the Peach Blossom Spring Realm, would choose to betray her.
He’d had so many opportunities to strike at her in the Peach Blossom Spring Realm.
While Bella was away, Kuris could have easily taken Alice’s life.
But Kuris never made a move.
Perhaps he had been afraid that even if he killed Alice, he wouldn’t be able to obtain the Hundred Flowers God’s Power.
That was why Kuris had never acted.
Not until now, when Alice performed the Divine Worship Ceremony and summoned the Hundred Flowers God to descend upon herself.
The Power of the Hundred Flowers God had finally emerged.
Only then did Kuris get his chance.
The divine light above the altar vanished, revealing the scene upon it.
Everyone had collapsed to the ground, apparently unconscious. Only Kuris remained standing.
The sight jolted Alice back to her senses, and her heart shuddered.
She realized that she couldn’t give up, even without the Hundred Flowers God’s Power.
Alice’s first instinct was to reclaim the Power of the Hundred Flowers God.
Inside the Black Crystal in Kuris’s hand, a purplish-black datura had already grown.
When Alice saw the purplish-black datura inside the Black Crystal, she felt a painful wail from the Hundred Flowers God deep within her.
She didn’t know what methods Kuris and Kira had used to twist the Hundred Flowers God’s Power into this form.
This was by no means a normal state.
Alice drew her sword and charged toward Kuris.
WHOOSH!
A light breeze brushed past Alice’s face, and in an instant, she felt tiny particles fly into her nostrils, seemingly some kind of fine pollen.
Her mind grew hazy for a moment before clearing just as quickly.
"Mind-Bending Pollen!"
Alice now understood why everyone else on the altar had collapsed.
Kuris had mixed the Mind-Bending Pollen into the surrounding wind.
He could control the wind. He’d used it to "poison" everyone in an instant, knocking them unconscious while their guards were down.
But Alice was unaffected.
She had the Hundred Flowers God’s blessing. Even though the deity’s Power was now sealed within the Black Crystal, a portion of that Power still remained with her.
While this residual Power wasn’t enough to let Alice display her previous, immense strength...
...it did make her immune to the toxins of any "flower" or "plant" in the world.
This was Power on the level of a Rule.
Even Mind-Bending Pollen, which could knock out a Legendary Level Magic Beast, had no effect on Alice.
Kuris seemed to realize this as well, and he quickly rushed towards Kira.
Kira had also gripped his Treasure Sword firmly and was charging toward Alice.
At this moment, in the far distance, a figure wreathed in lightning was speeding toward the altar.
Bella’s face was a mask of fury, her eyes crackling with lightning-forged rage. Rumbles of thunder echoed through the clear sky around her—a testament to the immense anger raging within her heart.
Just a moment ago, she had been pushed to the far horizon by Kuris’s Power.
It was a Power that carried one away on the wind.
Before the Power dissipated, Bella could not resist it.
As she was carried into the distance, Bella had ample time to think, and after long consideration, she finally realized what had happened.
’Why would Kuris use such an ability on me?’
There was only one explanation: Kuris had betrayed Alice.
"Get out of my way!"
Lady Rose, Evelyn, roared furiously at the entrance of the Mage Association.
Abak was leading a group of experts from the City Lord’s Mansion, surrounding Evelyn.
His head was still wrapped in white gauze.
The injuries Bella had inflicted on him hadn’t healed even after half a month.
He hated Bella to the bone; she had made his already thinning hair even sparser.
It forced him to keep his head wrapped up all day to prevent others from noticing.
Abak stared at Lady Rose, Evelyn. "Lady Rose, I must ask you to calm down. Just stay here obediently and don’t wander off."
Evelyn glanced around. Abak had already set up a Magic Array in the vicinity.
These Magic Arrays were specifically designed to deal with Evelyn.
Coupled with the several Tier Four Professionals at Abak’s side who had her surrounded, Evelyn had no chance of breaking through the encirclement in a short amount of time to support Alice.
Evelyn couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on Abak. She acted immediately, intending to forcibly break the surrounding Magic Barrier and leave.
Abak shouted, "Stop her!"
BANG BANG BANG! WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Alice and Kira clashed.
A long time ago, Alice had fought Kira once before.
That time, Alice was injured and failed to defeat Kira.
But she hadn’t used the Power of the Hundred Flowers God back then.
Otherwise, in the state Alice was in just now, Kira wouldn’t have even been qualified to fight her.
He would have been defeated in a single exchange.
Several years had passed, and Kira’s strength had grown considerably.
This time, even if Alice were at her peak, she would still feel immense pressure fighting him.
The main reason was that she was facing a three-on-one assault.
Kira, Kuris, and a stranger completely shrouded in a black robe.
Even though his aura was completely different, Alice could recognize him as the same Black Cultist who had attacked her before.
He had changed bodies, but his techniques were the same.
It was still the same familiar style.
Kuris was holding back. Despite betraying Alice, he didn’t actually want to kill her.
He just wanted to obtain the Power of the Hundred Flowers God.
Kuris was slacking off on the side, using his Windflower ability to assist Kira in the fight.
Even so, assailed by the two of them, Alice was at a disadvantage.
"Things aren’t looking good," Li Wei muttered, gazing at the scene below.
