Chapter 1941: Part 2: Black Monk City
Black Monk City
Black Monk City is not a simple city. There are undercurrents surging within it. Most of the residents in the city have a history tied to the chaotic land.
Only the city lords and the top officials are from the Skycrest Kingdom Capital. The rest of them are descendants of the chaotic lands.
The forces in the chaotic land have a history of rise and fall. The forces of the predecessors of these descendants have long since been wiped out.
So the Skycrest Nation doesn’t have a problem with them. They don’t relate the locals with the chaotic land. It’s because the current forces are different from ancient history.
Despite such history, the Administration still carries out the work of intel collection. But compared to other cities of the Skycrest Kingdom, they rank at the bottom.
They don’t have capable people to collect intel. The cab drivers, small shop owners, and ordinary people are afraid to offend unknown figures.
Since Black Monk City is located right next to the chaotic land, they could easily come across powerful people in disguise.
They don’t want to offend the wrong people. The people who were caught doing intel work were killed instead. Because of it, no one does the work of intel collection properly.
The higher-ups have long since given up. They understood the threat here. They too were afraid of the forces in the chaotic land.
Because of it, they are not sincere in their jobs. Right then, one of the officials received an alert from an inn owner.
The official viewed the message. The message said that an unknown person had entered the city. His name doesn’t match with the database.
Knowing that, the official was shocked. He immediately thought of an expert from the chaotic land. The official broke out into a cold sweat.
He immediately sent a message back to the inn owner. He warned the inn owner not to pry further. The person could be an expert. He also warned him not to tell others.
On the other hand, the inn manager got the reply. After reading the message, the inn manager shut his mouth. He felt fortunate that he hadn’t offended the person earlier.
The next day,
I woke up. I walked up to the window. I opened the window. I saw the situation outside. I saw many old-style buildings.
The morning light fell on the various buildings.
My eyes gleamed with a twinkle.
"Finally, I have come to the place. The next place is the chaotic place," I muttered to myself.
I began to think about my next plan. I should find ways to enter the chaotic land. The inspection at the border must be strict. I decided to get ready.
Swoosh!
I entered the Gregor Mansion. I came to the hall and sat cross-legged on the floor. Then I took the mana stones and held them in my palm.
I closed my eyes and started to run the Gravity Ark Mental Method.
Time passed,
After completing today’s schedule, I went to the bath to take a shower. The bath lasted for 20 minutes.
Then I walked out and changed into fresh wizard clothes.
A few minutes later,
I appeared outside and left the room. I came to see the inn manager. The inn manager became respectful. His attitude was different than before.
Seeing that, I was surprised. Yesterday, he was not like this. But I ignored it and inquired about the transport companies.
The inn manager was enthusiastic. He began to answer my questions. He offered some solutions. He even told me which company accepts bribes.
The city has many problems. Corruption is one among them. Corruption is rampant here.
I digested the information and decided to check out today. The manager gave me a refund, but I told him to keep it.
His information was valuable. He even told me whom to approach. From Arken Port City to here, there were no obstacles.
After leaving the inn, I found a cab service. I told the driver to drop me at that particular travel company.
10 minutes later,
I stood in front of a high-storey building. There was a big open space at both the front and back sides.
There were flying vehicles parked in the open space.
My gaze swept across the vehicles. There were airships, long trucks, flying cars, and even one small-sized aircraft.
I hadn’t spotted a single aircraft on my way here. It could belong to a big figure in the building.
I collected my thoughts and walked inside the building. I approached the help desk and said the name of the person.
Hearing that, the staff behind the desk was surprised, because that name belonged to their manager.
Shortly afterwards,
A tall man wearing a black suit came to the front. He is the manager of the place. His name is Neil. He is also a Level-8 Wizard.
Knowing that I had come to see him, he brought me to a private room. We began to talk. I told him that I was introduced by the inn manager.
And I told him my goal was to enter the secret land without inspection. Neil was not surprised. He felt the pressure coming from the young man.
This type of pressure he had only ever felt from a Magic Lord. So he changed his attitude. He didn’t have any ulterior thoughts.
"Young Master, our cloud ship is going to leave for a certain city in the chaotic land. You can travel by it," Neil said.
"When is it leaving?" I asked back.
"Tonight at midnight," Neil replied.
"Good, don’t tell anyone about it," I said to him.
The manager, Neil, agreed. I checked his characteristics with the system. He didn’t have bad intentions.
I gave him 100 mid-grade mana stones. Neil accepted them. Mid-grade mana stones are not easy to find. Only top forces can have them.
He was certain that this young man was from a certain powerful force, to have such strength at this age. He didn’t know which force, though.
But he decided not to pry further. He then offered me a guest room, and I decided to stay in the guest room.
