Yang Yi had mastered the use of his third eye ability to perfection.
After confirming there was no danger on the deck, he put on his eye patch and kept it on until he received word that the area had been secured.
Then, he removed it again and headed towards the cabin to inspect the ship’s interior.
Just at that moment, a streak of blue light shot out from the cabin at incredible speed.
Using the dynamic vision of his third eye Yang Yi got a clear look at the object — it was a winged, footed chunk of ice, only two centimetres in size, with a severed human finger embedded inside, glowing an eerie blue.
The buzzing sound it made came from its vibrating wings. Due to their unique frequency, the noise resembled electrical static.
Yang Yi had been on guard. He raised his right hand and fired a single shot, instantly shattering the bizarre insect-like ice creature.
Bang!
The ice fragment exploded into a cloud of frost, spreading a deep chill. The frost near the cabin door thickened, making creaking sounds as it expanded.
But that wasn’t the only one of these strange creatures!
To Yang Yi’s side, two more of them flew up from beneath the ship’s railing.
It seemed they had been dormant on the other side of the hull and were disturbed by the commotion.
These two were different from the first — one was larger, containing a frozen eyeball inside, while the smaller one held a chunk of human skin.
As soon as they appeared, they shot towards Yang Yi at high speed.
His right-hand flintlock was still cooling down, so Yang Yi immediately abandoned his left-hand firearm and pulled out throwing darts, swiftly nailing the two creatures mid-air.
The only reason he managed to kill them so easily was that their actual target wasn’t him — it was the flames!
The extreme cold they carried instantly extinguished the fire.
In the blink of an eye, two more creatures emerged from the cabin. This time, Yang Yi only had time to kill one with his left-hand dart before the other was already upon him.
And his gun still hadn’t cooled down — it had been less than ten seconds!
Yang Yi countered with his right hand, where his flintlock had already transformed into the Sea Serpent’s Fang. A precise stab landed, and another icy explosion erupted.
The creature shattered easily — it was so brittle that a single touch turned it into icy debris.
At the same time, a wave of piercing cold erupted from the explosion.
Yang Yi’s right hand, along with the Sea Serpent’s Fang, was instantly frozen solid.
Even his down jacket was coated with a layer of frost, and his face went numb from the freezing cold.
If one of the ice creatures had latched onto him, his fate would have been no different from the ship’s previous occupants!
And at that moment, a string of information appeared in his mind:
【Name: Ice Nest Worm】
【Description: A crystallised fusion of flesh and soul from Ice Nest cultists. These worms are drawn to heat and light, freezing everything in their path to spread the Ice Nest’s gospel. Upon death, they emit a high-frequency signal undetectable to the human ear, summoning all nearby Ice Nest Worms!】
“Shit!”
Yang Yi’s eyes twitched.
These creatures were likely the true culprits behind this ship’s frozen demise.
And killing them would only draw more of them.
His vision revealed countless eerie blue glows appearing in the northeast direction — something was there.
When they weren’t moving, they emitted no light, blending perfectly into the ice like ordinary frozen chunks, making them nearly impossible to detect!
But now that they had received the signal, they were all waking up — coming straight for him!
The closest ones were less than a kilometre away!
“Suna, extinguish the flames on the Nightmare Star immediately!” He sent the message.
“What’s going on?”
“Light attracts an extremely dangerous kind of worm!”
Yang Yi transmitted the Ice Nest Worm’s data over and didn’t even bother retrieving his throwing darts.
After taking only two steps, he stopped.
The creatures were too fast. Running blindly would only get him caught.
He had to do something first! Like reigniting this fuel-drenched ship!
Using a fire starter would take too long — several minutes at best, especially with all the frost covering the surface.
However, if he used the Sea Serpent’s Fang’s ability, that was a different story!
Yang Yi immediately tried to move his frozen right hand to reclaim the Sea Serpent’s Fang. But his hand was completely numb, beyond his control.
Crack!
With a ruthless motion, he snapped off one of his own fingers.
There was no blood, no pain — it was as if the finger wasn’t even his.
Even his Spider-Web Gloves cracked apart from the sheer cold.
“Damn it!”
He didn’t have time to snap off every frozen finger one by one — he was racing against death!
So, he raised his right hand and smashed it down onto the deck.
Like shattered glass or porcelain, his hand splintered into pieces, leaving only the palm somewhat intact, though now covered in cracks.

He quickly grabbed the Sea Serpent’s Fang and used his Worm Ring to store away the larger fragments, then activated the weapon’s ability — Blazing Jet!
A three-metre-wide fan of flames spewed out, igniting multiple tightly packed bonfires on the ship, as well as the deck beneath him.
The once-burning vessel was set ablaze once more!
Without looking back, Yang Yi leapt off the high deck, rolling across the ice before sprinting forwards.
As for the supplies and equipment, he couldn’t care less.
Staying even a second longer meant certain death — or worse, becoming a frozen, eternal monument!
“I just hope this fire buys me some time.”
Yang Yi ran at full speed, pushing his body to its limits.
Meanwhile, he used his third eye to keep watch behind him.
The worms were too fast, outpacing even his sprint.
The closest ones had already reached the ship — and plunged straight into the flames.
The fire wavered but didn’t go out!
One worm alone couldn’t extinguish it, yet with more swarming in, it was only a matter of time!
Still, the distraction was working.
Yang Yi shut his eye patch and stopped looking back, dashing towards the Nightmare Star.
At the same time, his mind raced for a solution.
The creatures wouldn’t let him go.
Once they finished smothering the fire, he would be their next target.
With his body temperature at 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, he was practically a beacon compared to the minus 30-degree surroundings.
He had to find a way to eliminate them!
Suddenly, a thought struck him.
He had already noticed that while the worms chased heat, they were also vulnerable to it.
Flames could melt them — kill them.
So, what if he could set fire to these living chunks of ice…?
"Suna, quickly dismantle the Life Fireplace and place it in the most visible spot!
The worms throw themselves into flames without hesitation; they’ll definitely charge into the Life Fireplace too. And then…their souls will ignite!"
Yang Yi sent Suna a private message.
After all, according to the Ice Nest Worm’s description, they were transformed from the flesh and souls of Ice Nest cultists. That meant they were flammable!
The moment they entered the Life Fireplace, their souls would be set ablaze!
This furnace could ignite living beings, using their very souls as fuel, after all.
"Got it!"
Suna’s reply was as brief as ever.
But Yang Yi remained cautious — he instructed Suna to leave the Nightmare Star once the setup was complete.
He didn’t want her caught in the inferno.
