Chapter 498: Chapter 410: Spicy Salted Egg Yolk Chicken and Bread Special

After tasting the pizza topping and the crust separately, they stuffed the remaining pizza whole into their mouths, experiencing the collision of flavors as they fused in the mouth, distinctly different from the separate tasting.

The sweet wine fragrance of the small sausages mixed with the aromatic beef sauce, crispy sweet onion strips, and green pepper strips perfectly cut through the grease. Paired with the wheat aroma of the dough and the stringy cheese, it was a mouthful of exotic charm.

The overall flavor of this beef sausage pizza was noticeably different from the Great Xia Cuisine flavors tasted previously, and the seasoning didn’t reflect a distinct Great Xia flavor. Instead, it tasted more like a fusion of flavors.

However, it didn’t matter. At least this seasoning was more suitable for Western diners’ tastes compared to fruit pizza.

While tasting the beef pizza, the middle part inevitably picked up traces of the sauce flavor from nearby pieces.

It was numbing, spicy, and had a distinct flavor of sauce. With one taste, it was clear that this was the most typical Great Xia spicy seasoning.

The golden crust edges looked like little windows, with the golden salted egg yolk sauce fully baked and evenly spread along the edge of the dough.

The center area had orange-red pieces of roasted chicken, paired with colorful mushrooms and red pepper strips, highlighted by the dark brown spicy sauce and snow-white cheese. It was the pizza with the best visual appeal in the room.

The three simultaneously grabbed a slice of pizza, the long strands of cheese creating three white lines in the air, some places smearing the spicy sauce underneath, making mouths water just by looking.

Especially since they already knew what spicy tasted like, just smelling that scent would instinctively start saliva production.

Lin Chen couldn’t resist anymore, and this time he didn’t hold back, grabbing the last slice of spicy pizza from the plate and stuffing it into his mouth.

The last time he had pizza in the country was over ten years ago, when pizza was just starting to get popular, made in thick-bottomed iron pans. After tasting it, he thought it wasn’t quite to his taste, like eating hard bread.

Since going abroad, after trying Western-style thin-crust pizza, he gradually started to enjoy this food.

Today, the four flavors were recommended by Zhao Shun, and after searching online for comments for a long time, he finally decided on these flavors. They could be considered relatively distinctive and popular varieties of pizza.

A big bite sank in, with soft cheese melting first in the mouth, intermingling with the slightly numbing, slightly spicy sauce below. Almost instantly, saliva uncontrollably poured out.

Originally, he was worried that the spicy sauce made today would be too heavy, but after tasting it, he found there was no need to worry. The rich cheese flavor automatically neutralized most of it; really, there wasn’t much spiciness, at a level even foreigners could enjoy.

The surface pieces of Orléans roasted chicken looked like they were roasted to a golden brown, but inside, it still retained adequate juiciness. Combined with various mushrooms on the side when chewed together, occasional bursts of spiciness were truly eye-opening.

Though the pizza crust wasn’t as thin as Western pizzas, it still felt much better than the kind of pizza he remembered, moderate in thickness. It retained the dough’s thickness and texture while adequately mixing with the toppings and sauce, not like eating plain bread.

Chewing a few bites without swallowing, he immediately bit into the salted egg yolk crust once more.

"Crunch."

Because of the different folding method, the upper part of this pizza crust was completely baked crisp, displaying a distinct burnt brown color.

Crunchy dough breaking releases rich wheat aroma, rather like eating a cookie.

In the middle, the salted egg yolk sauce was moist and carried a distinct grainy texture. The unique salty, fatty scent of the duck egg yolk gradually spread across the tongue as it was chewed.

Compared to directly using salted egg yolk in cooking, making it into sauce softened the impact on the palate, like a gentle breeze, making one want to taste more.

Lin Chen couldn’t help but nod; this pizza tasted much better than he imagined, especially the pizza dough brushed with spicy sauce. Eating too much really felt like having sauce pancakes brushed with spicy sauce.

With this thought, he turned his gaze to Zhao Shun.

"Can you make sauce pancakes?"

"Huh? Sauce pancakes? The one from the Tujia people?"

Zhao Shun was waiting for his verdict when such a sentence suddenly popped up, leaving him momentarily stunned before nodding in agreement.

"Yes, it’s not very difficult. The main thing is the sauce recipe, the pancake itself is quite ordinary."

Lin Chen nodded absent-mindedly, not entirely trusting this youngster’s words.

What a professional pastry chef calls ordinary might be incredibly difficult for normal people.

When this youngster actually makes it, they’ll see if it’s really as simple as he says.

The pizza had just been divided, and the next batch in the oven was now ready.

These four were complete flavors; with so many people present, a slice per person wouldn’t be enough, let alone to fill them up.

Fortunately, Zhao Shun and Old Chen kept busy, and while they were sampling, they made several more pizzas, promptly putting another four in the oven.

Lin Chen glanced at the time, "Everyone, eat quickly, take a bite just to tide over for now. When the next batch is ready, we’ll have to prepare to start operating."

"After lunch, we’ll make something else to eat. For now, hang in there, thanks for your efforts."

"Not hard, not hard, it’s as it should be."

"Back when I was working, it was pretty much the same. When things got busy, there was no time to eat."

John, Magna, and Rovena were quite considerate and didn’t compete with the few lovely waitresses for food, standing silently at the side, watching them and swallowing their own saliva.

After all, they were there to freeload, and they shouldn’t disturb the people who were about to work — basic manners.

Lucas didn’t make a move either. He wasn’t involved in the work. He had already filmed the pizza-making process and just needed a few extra clips later to complete the task.

He could eat whenever he wanted; he could even make it himself. For now, let others enjoy it first.

The girls didn’t eat much. Tasting one slice of each flavor was enough to fill them up. Plus, they were already thinking about the other delicious treats Lin Chen had mentioned they’d make after work, so they wouldn’t eat too much.

While the four ladies were enjoying the food, Zhao Shun and Old Chen grabbed a slice each of every variety, holding them with napkins.

Their eating style wasn’t as refined, stacking two fruit types together, and two savory types together, focusing on finishing quickly.

Old Chen had never eaten pizza before, and when he tasted the pineapple mixed with durian-flavored pizza, his brows furrowed like a rag but he still bravely swallowed it all.

Compared to the taste, wasting food was more disgraceful.

To him, it tasted like fruit-flavored flatbread; not bad, but certainly not suited for an old man like him. Probably something girls would enjoy.

He even thought about making it for his wife to try when he went home on leave.

She would probably like it.

The two other savory flavors were alright, tasting like unwrapped stuffed pies.

As the employees rushed to eat, Helena and Lucinda were almost drooling, watching enviously as they indulged, their throats bobbing, involuntarily swallowing their saliva.

"That pineapple pizza looks better than the commercial ones, with cheese sauce. I really want to try it."

"I never thought Great Xia People could transform pizza into something seemingly more delicious than its original form. Lisa will surely regret not having this pizza."

Jonathan’s roast was almost done, but since the buffet started at scheduled times, it couldn’t be taken out of the oven early to prevent it from cooling and affecting its taste.

If it couldn’t be taken out, it meant they had no food for now, waiting at least another half hour to finally eat.

Lin Chen quickly noticed the longing in their eyes, thinking about future collaboration between the teams, and thought it was better to build a good rapport early.

He immediately gestured to them.

"There are two slices left. Do you want some?"

Each pizza was cut into eight slices, with the four ladies plus Zhao Shun and Chen Dongliang having one slice each, leaving just two slices.

"We’re about to have new pizzas fresh from the oven later. They couldn’t finish them all anyway, so why not try some? You won’t find these at other pizza places."

Perhaps fearing the women felt awkward coming over to fetch, Lin Chen gestured to Dais, who promptly combined the remaining pizzas into a complete four-combination pizza and handed it over.

"Here, give it a try, no need to be shy. Just give feedback later~"

"Thank you."

The two women weren’t reserved. Since the Head Chef had offered, they gladly reached for a slice and started eating.

Although having sat for a while meant it wasn’t as delicious as fresh from the oven with almost no cheese pull, it still retained a warm taste, not affecting the overall flavor.

They had never eaten durians before; purely trusting Lin Chen’s culinary skills.

After a few bites, savoring the rich and sweet aroma, their eyes lit up.

"Is this what durian tastes like? Much better than I imagined; like eating fruity cream!"

"Why do I feel it’s a bit like chocolate? It actually tastes quite good. This should really appeal to female customers, right?"

"Yes," Lin Chen nodded, "the primary audience for fruit pizzas are female customers, akin to Crêpe, considered as the main dish but more like eating fruit-flavored bread, which can be eaten as dessert."

"Boss, when are we going to make bread and desserts? I’m itching to get started, haha."

At the mention of this, Zhao Shun immediately perked up, his youthful face full of eager anticipation.

"Whenever you manage to make them, go ahead; the problem is Old Chen can’t. Although I can assist, I’m not familiar with domestic baked goods, so we shouldn’t pick anything too troublesome."

"How about tomorrow, okay? We’ll keep it simple with basic breads like hotdogs, scallion, and meat floss ones."
