Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Poetry Language Small Restaurant

Lin Wanyi walked up to Xu Xiangbei, extended her fair wrist, and said, "Dr. Xu, can you check my pulse? I’ve been feeling a bit uncomfortable lately."

As she spoke, Lin Wanyi’s body unconsciously leaned closer to Xu Xiangbei. Her well-developed, budding bosom brushed against him inadvertently, enough to steal the soul of any man.

Xu Xiangbei gently held her smooth, fragrant wrist, suppressing the flames rising in his heart, and smilingly explained to the classmates, "We can categorize pulses into 28 types. Aside from the normal pulse, the remaining 27 are considered pathological..."

Lin Wanyi blushed like a red sunset, her voice soft as a songbird’s, as she leaned gently against Xu Xiangbei’s arm, "Then, Dr. Xu, what kind of pulse do I have?"

Suddenly, a crisp, melodious voice came from the doorway, "That’s called the spring pulse. Even though I don’t understand Chinese medicine, I can tell that much."

Gu Xiangyi appeared at the classroom door. Her elegant and noble demeanor made Lin Wanyi shy, and with a flushed face, she hurried off the platform to her seat.

Xu Xiangbei looked surprised, "Xiangyi, why are you here? That’s the end of today’s class. See you tomorrow at ten o’clock sharp."

Xu Xiangbei smilingly walked toward Gu Xiangyi, but to his surprise, Gu Xiangyi, seemingly full of energy today, greeted him with open arms in a warm embrace.

Holding Gu Xiangyi’s fiery yet soft body, Xu Xiangbei felt unsure of what to do.

His gaze involuntarily drifted to the last row, where Song Yuting had been sitting. Song Yuting had already run out of the lecture hall with her head down.

Watching Song Yuting’s delicate figure retreat, there was always a hint of disappointment in his heart.

After a long hug, Gu Xiangyi finally released Xu Xiangbei, who playfully grabbed Gu Xiangyi’s hand and said, "Beautiful, why are you hugging me so tight? Missed me, have you?"

Gu Xiangyi chuckled softly in his ear, "I haven’t missed you. I was just letting them know you’re already taken, so they’d back off."

"Sister, tell me clearly, when did I become taken? Are you admitting I’m your boyfriend? Or have I been dating a fake girlfriend?"

Knowing Xu Xiangbei would keep asking, Gu Xiangyi quickly changed the subject, "Not admitting. Here are your car keys. According to the adult’s instructions, the little one has already brought your car. It’s parked at the lot in front of the office building."

Walking side by side with Gu Xiangyi on the campus path, watching the students their age flock to the cafeteria, Gu Xiangyi felt a sense of longing.

Gu Xiangyi enthusiastically said, "I really miss my campus life. How about we have lunch at school today, just to reminisce?"

Xu Xiangbei’s phone rang. It was Director Zhao, "Dr. Xu, let’s have lunch together at noon."

Seeing Gu Xiangyi wave her hand, Xu Xiangbei smiled and replied, "I’m with a friend, so I won’t trouble you. I’ll be there on time for class tomorrow, Director Zhao."

"Dean Qian and Dean Li are waiting for you."

"Please thank them, but I’m with a friend now, and it’s not convenient. Please understand."

Seeing Xu Xiangbei’s determination, Director Zhao had to give up, "Then see you tomorrow."

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s cafeteria is divided into several tiers. There’s a large cafeteria for students with large pot dishes—economical but simple with occasional edible meals—but eating there too often can be draining.

Besides the large cafeteria, there were several small eateries that resembled small restaurants, all privately contracted, slightly upscale, with an à la carte menu and more variety.

Xu Xiangbei saw a small restaurant named Shiyu Restaurant, with a classical decor style, green tiles, red walls, and a painting of Confucius seeking knowledge on the outside wall, with a poetic touch.

"Let’s go to the Shiyu Restaurant."

"Seems nice, let’s try this one."

Just as they walked into the restaurant, Xu Xiangbei saw Song Yuting sitting in the hall with Xiao Qing and Sun Ze.

The restaurant owner, a middle-aged man with a beer belly, smiled as he approached and slightly bowed to Xu Xiangbei and Gu Xiangyi, "I’m sorry, the restaurant is full. If you’re willing to wait, please sit on the sofa over there."

Gu Xiangyi looked around in surprise at the full hall of guests. Next to the bar, there was a long sofa, indicating frequent waiters, "Seems like your restaurant has good business."

The owner introduced proudly, "Though we’re a small campus eatery, our ingredients are fresh, and prices fair. Most importantly, the chef is my old father, a retired chef from a five-star restaurant. His cooking is superb, even better than those big restaurants, so students love to visit."

Not wanting to sit and wait for a meal, Xu Xiangbei and Gu Xiangyi were about to leave when Xiao Qing happily waved them over, calling out, "President Xu, come sit with us! We have a big table, just three of us. We can fit you too."

Seeing Xu Xiangbei enter, Song Yuting and Sun Ze quickly bowed their heads, pretending to look at their phones, both with slightly flushed faces, feeling awkward and intimidated, not daring to look at Xu Xiangbei.

But Xiao Qing, a person who loves watching the excitement and didn’t fear causing a scene, wanted to seize this opportunity to get to know Xu Xiangbei and invited him to sit with them.

Song Yuting secretly kicked Xiao Qing and glared at her, silently blaming her for causing trouble.

Hearing Xiao Qing’s invitation, Gu Xiangyi finally recognized Xiao Qing and Song Yuting as the two girls they encountered in front of the teaching building. She smiled, "Oh, it’s you two. You’re here for lunch too? You must be Xu Xiangbei’s students, then. The bond between students and teachers is deep, and it’s even stronger over a meal."

Xu Xiangbei chuckled awkwardly, "We’re just classmates, not students. You’re exaggerating."

Xiao Qing, noticing that Xu Xiangbei and Gu Xiangyi weren’t planning on joining them, grew anxious and continued, "Ting Ting and Dr. Xu were high school classmates. We’re not his students."

Initially, Gu Xiangyi didn’t intend to share a table with Song Yuting and the others. She sensed that Song Yuting and the other boy were downcast, staring at their phones with somewhat odd expressions.

Yet, hearing Xiao Qing mention that Xu Xiangbei and Song Yuting were high school classmates, her eyes lit up, seeming to understand something, and with a teasing smile, she said to Xu Xiangbei, "Oh, high school classmates? Then why don’t you hurry over? Why stand there like a fool? Need a beauty to carry you over?"

No matter Xu Xiangbei’s expression, Gu Xiangyi moved swiftly to sit at Song Yuting’s table, casually but intentionally sitting between Song Yuting and Xu Xiangbei, seemingly separating them.
