Chapter 520: Chapter 520: Suspect
Wind Chime didn’t shake hands with Xu Xiangbei, but instead quietly leaned forward and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek.
Her smile was sweet and innocent, "I think we won’t have much contact in the future. I just hope that I can forever remain in your memory, and you in mine. Let’s keep this beautiful memory well."
Xu Xiangbei smiled. Girls think differently from boys; they prefer romance.
Watching Wind Chime’s silhouette disappear down the corridor, Xu Xiangbei felt a hint of sentimentality.
The luxurious yacht Doris had docked, and many guests had disembarked. Xu Xiangbei, along with Ah Rong and Shen Congru, left the ship together.
Xu Xiangbei smiled wryly, "Ah Rong, could you take a trip to Jiangcheng and drive my car back?"
"No problem, give me the car keys."
Xu Xiangbei walked out of the pier, glanced back at the Doris. The statue of a goddess holding a harp made the luxurious yacht seem more like an elegant piece of art.
Although this luxury yacht trip was not entirely satisfying, it was full of fun.
Shen Congru’s bright red Ferrari was parked in the pier’s parking lot. He asked Xu Xiangbei with a smile, "I’m heading home and can give you a ride to Purple Gold Villa. Would you like to take my car?"
Xu Xiangbei was eager to do so, and he jokingly said, "Thank you, Young Master Shen. You truly are considerate. This yacht trip exhausted me, and when I get back to Purple Gold Villa, I want to sleep for two days."
Just as Xu Xiangbei was about to get into Shen Congru’s Ferrari, several police cars with flashing lights roared in and surrounded Shen Congru’s Ferrari.
Xu Xiangbei asked suspiciously, "What’s going on, Young Master Shen, did you do something illegal?"
More than a dozen heavily armed SWAT officers jumped out of the police cars, ready and aiming their guns at them. Someone shouted, "Raise your hands and get out of the car."
Xu Xiangbei smiled wryly and exchanged a glance with Ah Rong, "Luckily, you left the grenade in Jiangcheng’s car. If it were on us, we couldn’t explain it."
The three had no choice but to raise their hands and get out of the Ferrari.
The door of one police car slowly opened, and Jenny stepped out, her eyes filled with reluctance, and said to Xu Xiangbei, "Xu Xiangbei, Ah Rong, you two are suspected of murdering Lu Jingyun, you have to come with me to the police station."
Xu Xiangbei and the others were stunned, not understanding how Lu Jingyun could have died.
The police handcuffed Xu Xiangbei and Ah Rong. Ah Rong looked angry but helpless.
Crying could be heard from the yacht. Lu Yao was sobbing, supported by Lu Hong as they came off the ship.
Several security guards slowly carried a stretcher down the gangway. Lying on the stretcher was a person covered in a white cloth, with a hand dangling from the cloth, wearing a jade ring. The hand was covered in calluses, clearly Lu Jingyun’s hand.
Xu Xiangbei asked in shock, "Is there some mistake? Lu Jingyun was just full of life on the ship, how did he die?"
Jenny replied helplessly, "You had conflicts with the Lu Family on the ship, many people can attest, Lu Jingyun was murdered, you are undoubtedly the prime suspect. Lu Jingyun was a well-known figure in the Earth-Sea Business Community. He died, and the director wants me to arrest someone, I have no choice."
Seeing Xu Xiangbei handcuffed and standing by the police car, Lu Hong charged over like mad, clenching his fist to punch Xu Xiangbei, but the police stopped him.
"My uncle mercifully let you go, yet you secretly killed him. You are too despicable. If the law doesn’t sentence you to death, our Hong Family won’t let you off the hook either."
Xu Xiangbei sneered, "Which eye of yours saw me kill him? Ridiculously stupid nonsense. If I really killed him, I, Xu Xiangbei, would own up to it. But I didn’t do it; I will never admit to it. Lu Jingyun wasn’t killed by me. If I really wanted to kill him, I would’ve thrown him into the sea to feed the fish long ago in the open sea, why wait until now?"
Lu Hong was gnashing his teeth in hatred and charged once again, "We won’t let you go, a life for a life is a must."
Disgusted by Lu Hong’s baseless accusation of being the murderer, Xu Xiangbei disdainfully mocked, "Lu Jingyun’s life is worth no more than a donkey."
Xu Xiangbei’s words hit a nerve in Lu Hong, who was dragged away by the police, shouting hysterically as he went, "Bastard, I will never let you go, never."
Lu Yao looked at Xu Xiangbei in terror, her body trembling continuously, looking utterly frightened, muttering, "Devil, not a human, but a devil."
Xu Xiangbei scoffed disdainfully, "Is it necessary to be so scared? As expected of a top actor, such convincing acting."
The crowd of onlookers whispered among themselves, and the final conclusion was shockingly unanimous: they all believed Xu Xiangbei killed Lu Jingyun.
"It was him who killed Lu Jingyun, we saw him fighting with Lu Hong."
"He bullied Lu Yao and even followed her onto the ship. Lu Jingyun sought him out for a discussion, and he killed him."
"God, he looks like a handsome young man, yet his heart is so vicious."
Listening to the bystanders’ comments, with handcuffs on, Xu Xiangbei was escorted into a police car, unable to refute, only pretending not to hear. Ah Rong comforted Xu Xiangbei, "We are upright and not afraid of crooked shadows. If you haven’t done it, then you haven’t. Don’t fear others’ nonsense."
Xu Xiangbei smiled wryly. If he really had done it, he wouldn’t furrow his brow, but being wronged, this feeling was very unpleasant, like a boulder pressing on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
Xu Xiangbei and Ah Rong were taken to the police station. The two were held in separate interrogation rooms, each with a dedicated person to conduct the interrogation.
Jenny questioned Xu Xiangbei for a statement. Without any concealment, Xu Xiangbei recounted everything to Jenny.
He suspected that Lu Jingyun had sent assassins to kill him at Crown KTV, which led him to board the ship to settle matters with Lu Jingyun. Although there was a conflict, under Thomas’s mediation, both sides avoided bloodshed and coexisted peacefully.
Jenny looked at the report in her hand and smiled wryly, "From both the witness’s perspective and your own statement, you are the chief suspect in Lu Jingyun’s murder."
While recording the statement, the results on Lu Jingyun’s body came out. Lu Jingyun was stabbed in the heart, and the fingerprints on the knife belonged to Xu Xiangbei and Ah Rong.
The evidence was irrefutable, Xu Xiangbei was stunned, even he almost believed he was the killer. The evidence was too obvious.
He understood that he had been framed, realizing the gravity of the situation, knowing he wouldn’t be able to leave the detention center with such strong evidence.
He calmly said to Jenny, "Jenny, you have to believe me, this is clearly a setup. If I really wanted to kill him, I wouldn’t need a knife."
His argument was futile.
Holding the evidence, Jenny said helplessly, "Believing you doesn’t help. The evidence is heavily against you. The murder weapon has your and Ah Rong’s fingerprints. Whether considering motive or evidence, Lu Jingyun was indeed killed by you two."
