Chapter 212: Chapter 211: Vulgar
Mrs. Zhen and Madam Shao walked forward, chatting and laughing along the way.
Passing through the Moon Gate, they looked up and saw Du Yunru standing at the courtyard gate waiting. Madam Shao hurried her steps and went up to support Du Yunru’s hand, saying, "My dear, why have you come out under this big sun? Your own mother and sister are here; do you really have to worry about such formalities? You’re too sincere."
Du Yunru smiled with pursed lips and, linking arms with Madam Shao, said, "I’m fine. The medical woman said yesterday that this pregnancy is stable and told me not to be afraid, to move around as necessary, and not to lie down all the time."
Madam Shao was very careful about this pregnancy and naturally listened to every word from the medical woman. Having experience herself, she knew it was necessary for a pregnant woman to move around appropriately, so she smiled and said, "You should wait until after dinner when it’s cooler and more relaxing."
Du Yunluo stood by, listening to the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law talk, and thought to herself that they didn’t seem like in-laws but like a real mother and her daughter.
Mrs. Zhen was also satisfied; her married daughter was still the apple of her eye, although she was now in someone else’s hands. She was very happy that her in-laws loved Du Yunru, though she still felt a bit jealous.
When both big and small daughters had married into other families, she felt unmotivated being alone and wondered what kind of wife Du Yundi would bring home...
Madam Shao knew Mrs. Zhen and Du Yunluo had things to discuss with Du Yunru, so she didn’t join in, excusing herself by saying there was something else to attend to at the mansion.
Du Yunluo helped Du Yunru into the main room to sit down and quickly glanced around.
Perhaps because Shao Yuanzhou had gone to the academy, the furnishings and arrangements in this room were all to Du Yunru’s liking, even the maids and older women in the courtyard were mostly brought by the Du Family.
Just this fact alone was reassuring.
Mrs. Zhen coughed lightly, and the perceptive maids turned around and left.
Seeing this, Du Yunru asked in a low voice, "Mother, what’s going on?"
Mrs. Zhen gave her a playful glare, "You child, you didn’t say a word to me; what’s going on with Yuanzhou’s second sister and Li Baine?"
Upon hearing this, Du Yunru turned her head to ask Du Yunluo, "Did you tell Mother?"
Du Yunluo blinked her eyes; Mrs. Zhen had already heard from Shui Yue, so she had no choice but to confirm.
"Mother, I didn’t mention it because it’s really not a big deal. As for those two..." Du Yunru frowned, hesitating for a moment, "I really don’t know how to explain it..."
Mrs. Zhen thought those two were so excessive that they left Du Yunru speachless like Huang Lian, bitter without complaint, and she was momentarily upset.
Du Yunluo picked up on the meaning and leaned over, saying, "Is it inexplicable? Hard to sum up?"
These two phrases were what Du Yunluo had painstakingly come up with, and Du Yunru completely understood her feelings, nodding vigorously, "With such familiarity, I can see you’ve encountered them."
Du Yunluo, amused and not amused, actually disliked gossiping about others behind their backs. But since these two had caused trouble for Du Yunru, she said, "They are burying flowers in the garden, lamenting the spring and feeling sorry for themselves. Now I understand why that Miss Shao doesn’t like you. You can’t match her elegance, sister. Essentially, you’re ’vulgar’!"
Du Yunru squinted and laughed heartily.
Mrs. Zhen listened to her daughters’ banter as if they did not take those two seriously and interjected, "So what’s the situation with Li Baine? Does she and Yuanzhou have..."
"Mother!" Du Yunru interrupted Mrs. Zhen with a flushed face, "It’s just Li Baine holding a torch for him."
Mrs. Zhen spoke seriously, "Does she want to be a concubine?"
Du Yunru was silent for a moment, then shook her head, pointing to Du Yunluo, "As Yunluo said, she’s a refined person who values sincerity over status. What big or small wife? It’s uncouth."
Mrs. Zhen was stunned for a long time after hearing this, and finally her expression became "hard to explain."
Though Du Yunluo laughed, she had some concerns, "Even if it’s just child’s play, having those two always hanging around you is uncomfortable."
Du Yunru smiled faintly and said, "Don’t worry, I’m not that easy to bully either."
Mrs. Zhen remained noncommittal, but in her heart, she was considering reminding Madam Shao again.
After thoroughly inquiring about Du Yunru’s health and giving instructions to the maids and older women, Mrs. Zhen finally felt a bit reassured and prepared to take Du Yunluo back to the mansion.
Madam Shao seemed truly too busy, so Grandma Shao saw them off at the second gate.
Mrs. Zhen whispered a few words to Grandma Shao.
This Grandma was clever; when she first got married, Miss Shao had made things difficult for her. Mrs. Zhen hinted a few things, and she understood immediately.
After sending off Mrs. Zhen and her daughter, Grandma Shao came to find Madam Shao.
Not mentioning the little aunt, just speaking about Li Baine.
"Mrs. Li has learned that Miss Li is fond of the second young master," Grandma Shao said bluntly.
Madam Shao widened her eyes.
Li Baine’s feelings were obvious to Grandma Shao, and naturally, Madam Shao, too.
Madam Shao hadn’t paid much attention before, especially after Shao Yuanzhou got married. She believed Li Baine wouldn’t make any foolish moves, nor would her sister-in-law, Mrs. Li, allow her to, but hearing from Grandma Shao, she felt uncertain.
Du Yunru had a good nature; if this was an old affair, she wouldn’t cause trouble. The fact that Mrs. Zhen had come specifically suggested that Li Baine hadn’t given up?
The more Madam Shao thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt.
The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was a month away, and Shao Yuanzhou was going to return to the capital. If Li Baine made another sarcastic remark then, Du Yunru might get upset during her pregnancy, which...
Previously, considering Mrs. Li, Madam Shao had been lenient, but when it came to her son, daughter-in-law, and her unborn grandchild, Madam Shao couldn’t tolerate it anymore.
"Miss Li is not young anymore; she should be returned to the Li Family. If she continues to stay here, and it delays her age, it would be our fault," Madam Shao resolved, "We need to handle this promptly and make sure it’s done this month."
Grandma Shao agreed, once Li Baine was gone, given Miss Shao’s childish nature, what trouble could she cause? Once she’s married off in the coming year, life will be peaceful.
Du Yunluo rode the sedan chair back home, but halfway there, the chair stopped on the roadside.
Shui Yue came over to fetch her, and Du Yunluo alighted to see that they were in front of a gold jewelry shop.
Mrs. Zhen said, "When Yun Lang got married, I heard the ladies at the banquet saying this shop’s jewelry is quite good. Since we’re passing by today, why not have a look, Nannan?"
Du Yunluo agreed.
The shopkeeper invited them to a private room on the second floor and the hostess brought various jewelry for Mrs. Zhen to view.
Jin Ling stood in the corridor outside the room, when an older woman approached briskly and quietly reported, "Miss, there’s someone downstairs claiming to be from the Young Master’s side, saying there’s an urgent matter for Fifth Miss."
Jin Ling was slightly taken aback; someone from Mu Lianxiao’s side...
She suddenly thought of Yun Qi.
