Chapter 12 - Gentle smile of a women... a dream?

Evelyn was just as if not more astonished then Noir was, her hands were trembling with fear.

Noir didn't know as to what had happened either but he could get himself to see a rough picture of what had happened. Another dimension, she had possibly replaced it with something from an other dimension and from what she said it was possibly a dimension that contained nothing except for an endless void.

Therefore, she had replaced it with 'nothing', this 'nothing' wasn't just empty space but rather... pure emptiness.

"Hey! Let's try again? It probably won't be like this again." Trying to lift the mood, Noir spoke.

"Definitely..." She was still a bit frightened but managed to suppress it by little.

Noir stood up and searched for some stones nearby, he picked and brought back 4 stones whose sizes were neither too big nor too small. He kept them on the table.

"This time try thinking of-" he pointed at the brownish stone, "this stone" he added, "When you are replacing, make sure to always think about 'something' or else the result might be like this."

'Can 'nothing' be a powerful weapon for her? It did have some drawbacks though.'

It didn't take much effort either and seemed pretty reliable, you just had to think about nothing and boom your opponents head is nowhere to be seen, he's dead in a blink.

But this was for later, for starters he had to first get her to understand the basics, and 'luckily' the first attempt went beautifully.

'Sheesh.'

At first nothing happened, however on the second attempt the stones were replaced but it took some time for her to focus properly, the third try? Things went pretty good and with each try the speed swiftened. She was a genius perhaps?

Noir waved lazily towards Evelyn, "See you tomorrow." his tone indicating a sense of tiredness.

"Yeah, sure." But she was tired even more than him, not surprising as all he did was order.

'Teaching takes a lot of efforts.' Walking on his way to the room where he stays.

...

The night was meant to be spent peacefully. However it wasn't.

*Boom*

A sudden sound broke his sleep, it sounded like.. A wall being exploded to shreds.

"I hope it isn't what I think it..." Noir said as he walked out of his hut.

Hoping for the best was what he did, however as always luck wasn't really on his side.

Villagers were running for their lives, screaming like anything. Some children got stuck under their huts, some huts caught fire due to some of the fire-breathing ryus.

It was a chaotic scene, one that made Noir question himself, 'How the fu*k was I able to sleep for even 2 minutes while all this was going on?'

He was the only one who woke up late, not because the others got up immediately but rather...

'Where are the hunters? They should have arrived by now.'

But here was standing alone in the midst of the chaos, as he face-palmed himself, his tone tired, "Not again."

His luck wasn't the best in this world from the very beginning, the knowledge of the future was indeed coming handy but it didn't do as much of a difference as one would expect to it.

As his eyes wandered across the battlefield, he saw a large dark blue wolf-like fur creature was trying its best to prevent Ryus from entering, it was Iris.

'Looks like there's no time to waste.' White strings released themselves from the tip of his fingers and then weaved themselves into his legs. 'Sweet.'

This allowed him to control his own legs faster than a human could. A human moves their body using muscles, which are controlled by the nervous system through electrical signals sent from the brain and spinal cord.

Noir however wasn't using the muscles of his legs, in simple words what he was using right now was more of 'travelling using strings' rather than his own legs.

In the blink of an eye he was already near the place where Iris was battling off the Ryus.

"Cursed Weave."

Black strings soon emerged from his left hand, he decided to use it in the most basic way possible since there were alot of villagers who still hadn't evacuated, any attack on large scale would be risky.

'Knives, perfect as ever.'

A black string moved straight at an insane speed towards the wild ryus and in an instant it made a hole through its head, the Ryu struggled for a bit for soon gave way to peace, it died.

Two, three, four, five and so on, Noir was killing off Ryus pretty efficiently, however with each strike his own mental being as well as his physical strength was drained at an insanely swift pace.

*huff*

He huffed continuously due to fatigue, "I shouldn't use this any longer, at least not if I want to not die."

While extreme usage of the skill won't kill him, it would leave him unconscious and fainting while being this near to the wild ryus? No less than death, even now as Noir killed of a Ryu in one shot, the one behind it didn't even hesitate to come forward even though it was clear that all that awaited it was death.

Not because they were dumb but because they weren't in their senses.

Looking around, "No support still?" The hunters were yet to arrive or... Would they even arrive?

From what Noir saw during his time teaching them, they seemed devoted towards their village, so abandoning it wouldn't be quite the thing that they would commit.

A voice spoke in his mind, its tone suggested as if it was tired.

'What?-' upon recognizing the voice, 'Iris?'

she added,

'Would you mind explaining whatever you know?'

'They are sleeping?'

Her voice firm and rigid,

Something was wrong with the way she said it, no- the very words didn't fit properly. Had they fallen for a trap? If so, what trap? And why did Noir not fall for it? To begin with, was he even tempted?

Her voice got cut, Noir looked at iris who was at a considerable distance from him at the point, her wolf-eyes glanced at him once, as if saying 'go.'

"Okay." Noir sighed, 'Could things at least go as much as I can expect? A twist is not always needed...'

...

Meanwhile at one of the hunter's dreams, "Ryan, I missed you..."

A women spoke with a gentle and caring smile as she spread her arms for a hug.

"Marie..." The hunter spoke.

The background was filled with flowers and the sky seemed brighter than ever as both of them reached towards each other and hugged.

Currently, Ryan couldn't Marie's face but if he could then... he would be terrified, he smiled creepily, her gentle brown eyes had turned into scary red eyes, she made her grasp tighter and tighter, "Uhh." Ryan said as he tried to get her to loosen her grasp on him.

But she did not stop and with a scary laugh, *Fleesh*

Ryan's body could no longer it and he bursted like a balloon, his organs and red blood contrasting deeply with the bright place.

"Hehe~" Mari- no, she licked the blood off her fingers.
