Chapter 708: Rage Unleashed
For Jamie, the Limitation struck mid-attack, amplifying the damage to his already weakening vessel. This had created an opening for the full force of the Limitation to take hold, sealing his power.
’As I thought, there’s no way something like a Nexus Event would be easily overcome. But for Jamie’s power to be sealed...’
His gaze shifted back to the cracks on Jamie’s face.
’And those cracks... Something’s wrong with his body. No—something was wrong even before this. The Limitation just forced it to surface.
So it seems, I’d have to use that thing, in the end.’
Clicking his tongue in frustration, Arthur extended his hand and tried to halt the flow of leaking cosmic energy with his time laws, but Jamie raised a hand, stopping him.
"...give me a moment. I can stabilize this. You should focus on that guy."
Arthur didn’t need to ask who Jamie was referring to. That guy could only mean Bewússtsein.
Jamie’s vessel had taken significant damage, but Bewússtsein was no better off. In fact, his situation was worse.
The damage he suffered was akin to soul damage.
To impose the Existence Realm Limitation, Bewússtsein had been forced to strengthen his connection to Cruotis Prime—a connection he had been attempting to sever.
And Jamie’s attack, laced with Spatial and Destruction Law energy, had struck at that exact moment.
The blow had wounded not only the planet but also its Consciousness.
As a result, Bewússtsein lost his Candidate Sigil and sustained severe damage.
While he still had access to the remaining planetary energies that hadn’t been depleted, it didn’t change the fact that his injuries were significant.
And he was furious.
Words couldn’t fully capture the depth of his rage. It was a seething, incoherent fury that defied articulation.
Everyone on Cruotis Prime—just the seven of them—felt his wrath echoing across the battered landscape.
Bewússtsein’s voice rang out, shaking the very air, his rage so consuming he couldn’t form a coherent insult.
[YOU DAMNED—!!! GA-!! SO-!! FUCK!!!!!]
He roared, punctuating his rage with a string of half-formed expletives that dissolved into raw, unintelligible anger.
Suddenly, the space above them tore apart.
A streak of light shot through the rupture, hurtling straight toward Jamie.
Arthur reacted instantly, summoning Lostvayne and pivoting on his heel to release an upward slash.
**BOOM!!!
The clash of energies created a shockwave that cratered the ground beneath Arthur’s feet, the force pressing his legs into the earth.
When the dust settled, Arthur’s gaze landed on an enraged Bewússtsein, his eyes now burning with an iridescent light.
In his blind anger, Bewússtsein had deployed his sixth body, sending it directly after them.
[DIE, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!]
Bewússtsein bellowed, his voice shaking with rage as he drew back his fist, activating his Destruction Sigil. Energy surged, crackling violently as he prepared to unleash a full-powered punch.
But Evan moved first.
He activated multiple skills in a second, summoning a colossal armoured knight construct forged from ice and lightning.
The construct moved at supersonic speed, its massive sword slicing through the air as it bashed into Bewússtsein’s side.
The impact was thunderous, sending Bewússtsein hurtling into the distance like a shooting star.
Bewússtsein flipped around mid-air, landing on his feet, before immediately taking to the skies and raising his hands to conjure a giant mass of destruction energy.
But before he could launch it, two fists appeared in front of his face and collided with it, punching him up into the destruction orb he just created.
The destruction orb exploded upon impact, and his body was thrown towards the ground by the blast waves.
As soon as he crashed into the earth, lightning descended from above. He raised his hand to block it, but a wormhole appeared in front of the lightning, redirecting it to his side where it struck him.
Blades of dark light followed, raining down from above and he immediately rolled to his feet and jumped away to avoid them.
But when he landed after his jump, his feet sunk into the ground and he looked down to see that the earth beneath him had turned into a pool of corrosive darkness that was creeping up his legs, blackening his flesh.
He quickly released a burst of energy to destroy the corrosive darkness.
At that same moment, Alvey elementalized his body and became light itself, flashing in beside Bewússtsein with his sword drawn.
’Wha-?! ANOTHER COSMIC WEAPON?!!’
Bewússtsein couldn’t believe his eyes.
Since when did Cosmic Artifacts become so common?
Alvey infused the Morphic Edge with dense light law energy, swinging it with all his might towards Bewússtsein’s neck.
Bewússtsein crossed his arms to block the slash, but the force still knocked him back. He hadn’t travelled very far when McEnda’s staff descended from above, its corrosive darkness-infused tip tearing through his skin and piercing into his shoulder.
The staff pinned him down to the ground, and the gravity acting on his body suddenly multiplied by a hundred.
Evan descended from above, spinning in mid-air and landing with an axe kick on Bewússtsein’s chest.
’Collapse!’
His skill activated and prismatic flames surged all over Bewússtsein’s body.
Evan immediately teleported away, just as Arthur swirled everything in the area—the rocks, the magma spilling from the earth and even Evan’s flames—into a gravitational maelstrom with Bewússtsein at the centre.
In the centre of that maelstrom, Beatrix threw a Time Bomb which exploded in the same instant Arthur clenched his fist and compressed the gravity.
Spears of dark light and corrosive darkness pierced into the mix, the two energies igniting in a blinding explosion that sent Bewússtsein’s body hurtling towards the ground.
’What the hell?! I can understand the children since they’d always been mortals. But what’s with those demons?! I just Imposed an Existence Realm Limitation, how are they fine already?!’
Bewússtsein could not understand how Alvey and McEnda were capable of attacking him right now.
Jamie’s energies had been destabilized due to the sudden Limitation, and the same should have been the case for the two demons.
They should have had a hard time moving their now weaker bodies, but that wasn’t what Bewússtsein was seeing.
But he was forgetting something crucial.
Up until a few hours ago, Alvey and McEnda were Transcendents. So, they were far more used to their Transcendent-level bodies and power, than the Half-Deity-level power they just gained a few hours ago and hadn’t yet mastered.
As such, it was easier for them to adapt to the Limitation’s effects.
The two Demons made it rain light and dark arrows, with Bewússtsein, either dodging or destroying the extremely fast projectiles.
"Arthur! Evan! Hold him down!"
""No Problem!""
The two boys simultaneously responded to McEnda’s request, with Arthur teleporting right in front of Bewússtsein and throwing a Weighted Impact punch to the man’s face.
Bewússtsein shifted his body to the side to evade, Artemisia dashed behind him and delivered a high kick to the side of his head, knocking his head back into the trajectory of Arthur’s fist.
Arthur’s punch collided with his face, the impact breaking his nose and blasting him through the air.
Evan teleported above his body before it could complete a parabolic arc in the air, dropping another axe kick with his Collapse skill that sent Bewússtsein crashing down to the ground.
He instantly switched elements, freezing Bewússtsein in a chunk of ice, before summoning crimson-gold chains that wrapped around the ice coffin and held it down.
Bewússtsein, conscious within the ice, tried to shatter it, but the gravity acting on him suddenly multiplied by a hundredfold.
The man roared, his destruction energy surging and tearing through the restraints, but by then, Alvey and McEnda had already finished preparing their combo attack.
""Combination: Darkness Before The Dawn!!""
Their demonic energies exploded outwards and everything was blanketed in a veil of darkness.
Bewússtsein’s vision failed, his limbs felt like lead blocks, he began to have hallucinations of being killed by Jamie, he started sensing a million ’Jamies’ around him, an indescribable fear gripped him, and his energy circulation was disrupted.
The flesh of his body was infused with an insidious darkness, afflicting him with a sensation that felt as though his skin was being eaten away by unseen jaws.
Abruptly, there was a giant bright flash of light that pierced through the darkness and illuminated the everything with a blinding brilliance.
Light energy condensed into a raging blaze like a giant seething mass of plasma that seemed to shine across the world.
’...the sun?’
Those two words crossed Bewússtsein’s mind just as the light descended to the ground, crashing down with a deafening roar and unleashing a devastating explosion that engulfed everything within thousands of miles in its incandescent fury.
Piercing through that light, were the figures of Arthur and Evan, their bodies enveloped in a light that protected them from harm as they descended upon Bewússtsein with axe kicks that knocked his body deeper into the ground.
Bewússtsein roared in rage, his destruction sigil shining brilliantly. But before his energy could be released, Arthur warped him and Evan away.
The energy erupted in a pillar shooting towards the ashen sky, swirling around to create a vortex like before.
But before he could even do anything with it, a cold voice reached his ears.
"Basic Attack Sequence #3: Carve."
A huge mass of spatial power tore through the area, carving out the space the vortex occupied, as well as the vortex itself.
"...huh?"
Bewússtsein let out a dumbfounded noise, and his opponents took advantage of the opportunity to act.
Evan’s Crimson gold and Beatrix’s hazel brown chains burst from the ground and wrapped around his arms and legs. Space froze, locking him in place.
Then three spears of dark light and corrosive darkness from Alvey and McEnda shot through the air, piercing his body from the front and back respectively.
The ground beneath him cracked open and a torrent of water shot upwards, drenching him in its deluge and simultaneously, two bolts of golden and blue lightning descended from Artemisia and Evan, striking him with so much power they could all see the imprint of his skeleton.
And while the lightning coursed through him, the same voice as earlier reached Bewússtsein’s ears.
"Basic Attack Sequence #2: Cut."
Two crisscrossing slashes of spatial power snipped through the air like scissors, and in a second, Bewússtsein’s neck was flying through the air.
His body collapsed and his severed head, with wide eyes, rolled onto the ground beside it.
’...the heck? The damage I took was that bad? What was that spatial attack?’
The answer to his last question revealed itself in the form of the frowning Demon King who stepped forward and clenched his fist.
Powerful gravity compressed and crushed Bewússtsein’s body, turning it into a mangled mass of flesh.
"Let’s burn it for good measure."
Evan spoke, snapping his fingers and lighting up the body with prismatic flames. Jamie then added his own azure flames, and soon, all that was left was Bewússtsein’s wide-eyed head on the floor.
’...I planned for thousands of years. I absorbed the bodies and souls of all my billions of inhabitants. I’m so close to finally severing the last bonds that bind me to this planet.’
[MY PATH WILL NOT END HERE!!]
Bewússtsein’s head screamed out as the Destruction Sigil manifested on his forehead, unleashing a burst of cosmic destruction energy that forced the group backwards.
However, three spears of energy pierced through the mass of destruction energy, piercing Bewússtsein’s head simultaneously.
A crimson-gold spear of destructive flames pierced the left.
A crimson silver spear of temporal and destruction laws pierced the right.
An azure blue spear of spatial energy pierced the centre.
The three detonated simultaneously, blasting the severed head to bits and calming the storm of energy.
Still, even with Bewússtsein’s last body defeated, they knew it wasn’t yet over.
Suddenly, the ground trembled violently, and then an arm shot up from the shattered earth, latching onto Arthur’s leg.
Without hesitation, he yanked his leg free and delivered a gravity-infused kick that blasted the arm clean off the shoulder it was attached to.
Before he could catch his breath, dozens more hands erupted from the ground, clawing their way up, until within moments, the terrain was teeming with hundreds of grasping limbs.
They clawed and scraped at the soil, pulling out their full humanoid bodies, their hollow eyes empty and lifeless.
Some of them appeared fresh, save for the grime and dirt clinging to their bodies. Others were barely held together, their rotting flesh hanging in tatters, eyeballs dangling loosely, and intestines spilling out like broken cables.
"It’s Zombies now?!"
