Chapter 607: Casual Stroll through Destruction II
"I see..."
Evan murmured, gears turning in his mind after hearing Arthur’s explanation. But he still had a few things that left him confused.
"I think I understand now. But I still don’t get why you called my idea a Domain Declaration."
Arthur realised he hadn’t explained that part yet, so he did.
"Well, within a Domain Declaration, you’re essentially creating a miniature world. So, when you said you wanted a sun, moon, and a shattered earth?
That sounded less like a Bounded Field and more like a Domain."
Understanding dawned on Evan’s face when Arthur said that. He tossed his empty glass back into his inventory and spoke.
"So, I was basically trying to make a miniature world."
"Exactly! You wanted a sun, Evan. That’s not a miniature world anymore—that’s a freaking solar system!"
The two boys burst into laughter, but mid-chuckle, a rock bullet whistled through the air toward Arthur.
He casually backhanded it, sending it hurtling back at twice the speed and the soldier who had fired it could only watch in frozen horror as the rock bullet blasted their head clean off.
Evan, still laughing, spun around as another soldier charged at him, sweeping their legs out from under them and driving his elbow into their chest, smashing them into the ground.
The moment they hit, their body froze solid, turning into an ice sculpture. Evan didn’t even glance back as he abandoned the frozen figure, fully expecting it to shatter into pieces when the next explosion rocked the battlefield.
As they continued their leisurely walk towards the main administrative building of the Divine Human Factory, they continued discussing other things.
"Anyway, you and Jamie were talking about finding us a place to grind levels."
When Evan asked about this, Arthur nodded and responded.
"Yeah. Jamie’s been hopping around different places for a few days now. He said if he finds a suitable place, he’ll let us know.
Though, there’s a good chance we might end up going to Aidos instead. Apparently, there are a few dungeons there that give double EXP.
If you stack that with your accelerated levelling..."
Arthur didn’t get to finish before Evan cut in, recognition flashing in his eyes.
"I think I know the dungeons he’s talking about. Well, that’s if the dungeons in my memory are 10,000 years old, then yeah, I do."
"Well, here’s hoping Jamie finds them fast so we can get you powered up."
Arthur gave a light chuckle, swatting away a stray spell that came his way before continuing.
"After all, you are the weakest of the three of us."
His words earned him a deadpan glare from Evan.
"Oh, rub it in, why don’t you? Because, yeah, I’m not a cheat Progenitor who was born as a Sub-Cosmic being, or an immortal hybrid who can regenerate even from the destruction of a damn universe.
I’m just the ’regular’ son of a ’not-so-regular’ guy."
Arthur burst into laughter, raising his hands in mock defence as he spoke.
"Leaving aside the irony of you calling yourself ’regular’ when you literally have a title that says ’Irregular,’ I’m not the one who said that.
Apparently, some readers aren’t exactly fans of how much weaker you are compared to us."
Evan’s brow raised in confusion as he froze an incoming attack in mid-air with his unique skill.
"Readers? What are you even talking about?"
"Yeah, apparently some people want you to get power-ups and all that."
Arthur spoke while blasting a tank apart with a condensed orb of gravity law energy, and hearing him, Evan rolled his eyes.
The Rogue Hero used Artemisia’s Unique Skill to punch an Airship out of the sky, sending it crashing down in flames before speaking.
"I’ve gotten a lot of power-ups, actually. You want me to list how many Unique Skills I’ve picked up so far?
You’ll only see the full process of me acquiring these things in my story."
Arthur launched another gravity orb, this time obliterating an entire squadron as he replied to Evan.
"Yeah, we’ll see what powerups you’re really getting in your story. But it doesn’t change the fact that power-wise, you’re at the bottom."
Evan clicked his tongue in annoyance, while Arthur only laughed and told him to cheer up.
"Don’t forget that four years ago, I was barely level 20. Now I’m above level 750. It’s ridiculous even for me."
Evan reminded Arthur of the fact that he’d gone from Bronze to Legendary in such a short time and Arthur gave a nod of acknowledgement, conceding the point.
"Touché."
The Rogue Hero summoned his sword, petrifying a divine human before shattering them with a normal slash as he carried on.
"Anyway, about this place Jamie’s hunting down for us to power level, I’ve got a sinking feeling it might actually be a cultivation world."
Arthur raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"A cultivation world?"
"Yeah, you know about Xianxia stuff, right?"
Evan’s question about his knowledge of Xianxia came a while a stray spell flew towards Arthur’s face. However, the spell froze a metre before hitting him, then turned around and flew back to the sender.
"Basically, martial arts, sword intents, stuff like that, right?"
Arthur asked back, dodging a stream of magic coming at his side and Evan nodded in affirmation.
"Exactly. So... should we learn sword intents?"
Evan asked as he parried an axe blow from a hulking enemy, his voice calm, as if they were discussing lunch plans. To his question, Arthur chuckled, thrusting his hand forward to crush a soldier mid-charge with a burst of gravity magic, sending the man tumbling backwards like a ragdoll.
"I mean, why not? I wouldn’t mind adding that to the arsenal."
The teen progenitor said, glancing at Evan before sidestepping a flurry of arrows raining down on them.
Evan’s eyes lit up as he spun to avoid a spear thrust, and then in one fluid motion, he cleaved through two attackers in his path.
"Not gonna lie, I really want to learn sword intents. The stuff they can pull off in those Manhuas is insane."
Arthur’s laugh echoed as he raised his hand, stopping a volley of spells mid-air before redirecting them back to their casters.
"Tell me something I don’t know."
Right after Arthur said that, the both of them jumped at the same time, dodging a shockwave that tore through the ground. Landing smoothly, they continued cutting down enemy soldiers like they were on autopilot.
Evan glanced at Arthur, his tone a bit more thoughtful now.
"But before I’m certain Jamie’s found the planet I’m thinking of, I’ve gotta ask you something."
Arthur, finishing off a group of soldiers with a wave of destruction energy, nodded in response.
"Shoot."
Evan hesitated for a moment, then asked.
"Your mother’s a Leviathan devil, right?"
Arthur’s brow raised slightly, but he answered without issue.
"Uh-huh."
Evan opened his mouth to speak but suddenly stopped, his body going rigid as he sensed something. Arthur, too, noticed the change and instinctively glanced at the moon in the sky above them.
"Jamie, is that you?"
In response to his question, a message materialized before their eyes.
[The ’Demon King of Corrosion’ says that he is, in fact, NOT Jamie.]
"Ah, a wild McEnda appeared!"
Arthur shouted in mock surprise and Evan sighed, shaking his head while casually freezing another group of soldiers in place.
"I think you’re the only person who can use the word ’wild’ when referring to a Demon King."
Arthur shrugged, dispatching another enemy with a beam of destruction energy then spoke to the Demon King.
"How are you, Senior McEnda? Came to check on your son? He’s on the other side of the island, though."
[The ’Demon King of Corrosion’ says he was inspecting the battle as expected of a Demon King supervising Aramis.]
[The ’Demon King of Corrosion’ says he noticed you two strolling through the battlefield like it’s a casual walk and wonders what exactly you’re up to.]
To anyone observing from above, Arthur and Evan who were walking through the city were sure to catch their attention.
Even now, while momentarily stopped moving because of McEnda II’s message, they hadn’t stopped killing anything that came too close.
Arthur had deliberately held back from dealing with any Legendary Realm enemies, leaving them for Evan to finish off and absorb the precious EXP.
[The ’Demon King of Corrosion’ questions why you aren’t actively participating in the battle.]
Arthur waved his hand dismissively, disintegrating a group of incoming attackers as he resumed walking and responded.
"Oh, we’re headed to where Ger’s disciple is. In the meantime, we’re talking about power-levelling Evan here."
He gestured at Evan, who was currently dealing with a mounted knight charging toward them.
"But anyway, McEnda, do you know of any dungeons, dimensions, planets, realms, whatever, that give extra EXP so we can toss Evan into there to power level him? He levels four times faster than usual, so..."
Evan didn’t even flinch at Arthur’s casual revelation of his enhanced levelling speed, the reason being, that McEnda II already knew.
Alvey had given the Demon King a detailed report when Evan first arrived on Aramis back in March when he was at level 576. Now, looking at Evan—who had blown past level 700—there was no way McEnda II would not realise there was something extraordinary about his Levelling Speed.
The thought made Evan take a brief moment to reflect on how much he’d grown. Despite how packed his days had been, and how much it felt like years had passed, he’d only been on Aramis for four months.
"Come to think of it, When I arrived there four months ago, I was level 576. As we speak, I am level 760—"
[Level Up]
"—761.
In the span of four months, I went from 576 to 761. I’ve gained nearly 200 levels in four months. Almost 200 levels!"
Arthur glanced over, doing some quick mental math.
"185, to be exact."
"Doesn’t matter. In the entire year before I got here, I only gained 76 levels, and that was due to me being busy as fuck and having to travel to a different country almost every week.
Now, in just four months, I’ve gained nearly 200 levels.
I have killed more things in the past 4 months than I have in the past 4 years!
It’s kind of mind-blowing when I think about it."
Evan’s words made Arthur pause for a bit and he skimmed through his own memories, coming to the realisation that he wasn’t so different.
"Turns out I’m the same. I have killed more things in the 9 months here on Aramis than in the past 9 years of my life.
Heck, more than my entire life before Aramis."
Thinking about how many Aramisian Bases Arthur had decimated, and how many soldiers he’d wiped out with his AOE attacks was enough to discover that his statement was no lie.
The bases on Plomux destroyed during the fight with Crarox alone had seen thousands of lives wiped out in an instant, not to mention the countless others caught in the crossfire of his destructive techniques.
Arthur was the kind who cared little for his surroundings when he fought and collateral damage was inevitable.
Even demons had fallen victim to his attacks when they found themselves too close to the action.
It made sense that Arthur had taken more lives on Aramis. After all, he was in the midst of a war, something he hadn’t had to deal with back in the Hell Universe.
But still, he’d killed thousands of high-level enemies and this was one of the main contributors to his power spiking so high.
In this universe where experience points governed growth, the EXP he’d accumulated was monumental.
