Chapter 459: March, 531st Divine Year
Anyway, the wars on Zefesh continued, Arthur wrecked a few Fake Divine Factories and within the month of March, Arthur helped the Demons stabilize their control in Zefesh.
During the month he spent in Zefesh, Arthur went through MANY difficult battles, as he was always pitted against Sovereigns Level 800 and above.
He didn’t end up fighting any Transcendents as he did with Duskhand at Cheigh, but he had ended up surrounded by multiple Superior Sovereigns on more than one occasion.
No matter how Nonstandard the boy was, Arthur simply could not take on multiple Superior Sovereigns.
When he found himself surrounded by more than 5 Superior Sovereigns, he usually retreated, leaving them with a serving of Cattleya’s Destruction grenades.
Either that or he called up one of Sylvan’s Wood Demon or Barron’s Summoners to aid him.
After he had served Zefesh’s Airspace three Destruction grenades, the High Ranked Demons started sending Transcendents along with Arthur to whatever battlefield he was on.
Cattleya’s Destruction energy made it nigh impossible for anyone below Transcendence to even use Law energy within a few hundred-thousand-kilometre radius of the area so they wanted to reduce the chances of him using those things.
In situations where he met with less than 5 Sovereigns, Arthur usually stayed to fight.
With the help of his summons, Stelan, Romrintet who became an Inferior Sovereign, and the Sovereign Wolf he summoned in the Triton’s Ark, he succeeded in killing off some Superior Sovereigns before letting the Transcendents Intervene.
Arthur used these battles to refine his techniques and tried to replicate the slashing variation of Extreme Nothingness he used against Duskhand.
Sadly, he failed at doing so.
He even told Barron and Sylvan’s Transcendent Subordinates to hold on once, so he could fight 6 Superior Sovereigns alone, to see if he could get the same adrenaline rush which allowed him to create it in the first place.
Unfortunately, he failed to replicate even half the power he used against Duskhand.
This got Arthur stumped, as this was the first time he was having this much trouble with a technique since creating Extreme Nothingness.
The boy could create new variations of techniques on the fly. He did so with Extreme Nothingness when he created ’Seismic Surge’, and did the same with Extinction Slash and Cataclysmic Divide as well.
Yet, this slashing variation of Extreme Nothingness seemed to Evade him so much, regardless of how well he arranged his energies.
Towards the end of his time in Zefesh, Arthur discovered that regardless of how many gods he beheaded, his level simply refused to go up anymore.
As such, he left the battlefield on Zefesh and returned to Gledea, where he had Artemisia check him out with her powers and discovered that he had hit the peak of the Intermediate Stage.
He just hadn’t noticed it yet because his body was still trying to absorb all the power from the divine sparks he was eating like candy.
Arthur had hit what the Valmone Universe inhabitants called a ’Levelling Wall’, where one’s level simply didn’t go up regardless of whatever they did.
It usually happened when one was on the verge of breaking through to a new stage or Realm. These ’Walls’ usually appeared due to there being certain ’conditions’ one had yet to meet before breaking through.
But sometimes, it could simply be because they had reached the peak of power they could gain in their current Level and needed to force their way to the next before they could continue gaining power.
For Arthur, the latter was the case, and it was frankly quite frightening as the boy had only become an Intermediate Legendary 3 months ago.
The ’Third Magic’ was showing its worth, with Arthur blazing through the Epic Realm in a mere 3 months and now he had gone through Inferior and Intermediate Stages of the Legendary Realm in the 5 months he had been on Aramis.
Another thing he noticed when he got back from Zefesh was that Beatrix had somehow succeeded in getting Alvey to tolerate her constantly being around him, which was quite a shock.
Even Artemisia did not know how this had happened she even tried using purification magic on Alvey, just in case Beatrix was using some sort of black magic on him.
Of course, her plan to make Alvey look at her as a potential romantic partner had a very bleak future. Or rather, it didn’t even have a future in the first place, much less a bleak one.
Arthur decided to leave this unexplainable phenomenon behind and headed to Githal where he met up with Rachel, but he found out she was supposed to be deployed to battle in one of the small skirmishes on the frontlines so they could not spend much time together.
He returned to Militopolis and the first thing he encountered was a newspaper talking about the same Serial Killer he had noted months ago.
The Demon’s Military police in Southern Gledea had still not been able to get a Heads or Tails on the situation.
They barely had an MO for the Serial Killer, but they didn’t know what their main goal was or how they had even been able to evade the Sovereigns on the case.
He expected that Alvey and McEnda would have dealt with the situation by now, but it turned out that the report hadn’t even reached any of the High Ranked Demons.
They were all too busy to deal with a Serial Killer.
First off, there was the issue of them introducing new races into their forces and these soldiers were set to arrive at the beginning of April.
Alvey was also collaborating with some Demon Admirals to take the Triton’s Ark all the way from the Umhiz Ocean to the Chatane Ocean which was on the other side of Gledea.
He wanted to use this to attack the Plomux Continent.
The High Ranked Demons raised concerns about Yedrist of Chatane, the leviathan who slumbered in the depths of the Chatane Ocean, however, Alvey assured them he’d deal with it.
They remained skeptical, completely unaware that Yedrist had long since been killed by Alvey and no one, not even the gods and Demon Kings knew of this.
Last, but not the least and certainly the MOST IMPORTANT of the issues that kept Alvey and McEnda up at night was ’The Annual Gozonian Interstellar Summit’.
It was an occasion where all Four-Star Generals and their equivalents from all of Gozon’s Battlefront Worlds in both the Orithyia Galaxy and beyond, returned to their home planet Gozon to report their yearly achievements to the planet’s Rulers.
The 72 Demon Kings of Gozon.
They also recommended promising soldiers for promotions, granted Nobility titles, and granted special rewards and merits.
Special Rewards involved being bestowed with Pseudo-Authorities, like Sigesi, who had gotten hers during the Annual Summit of last year due to her high performance during that previous year.
Her special reward was being bestowed a Pseudo-Authority by a Demon Queen.
This was just one of the Special Rewards, as there were others like Rare Artifacts, Law Crystals for the Transcendents and much more.
It was a very important event for both Alvey and McEnda.
Alvey was trying to gain his own standalone Noble Demon Peerage, non-affiliated with his parent’s respective clans.
Currently, he was affiliated with his Mother’s Clan, but they were low-ranking nobility.
Alvey had piled up achievements for a Demon Noble Title of his own—he was the lead General in conquering three high-level Worlds,
However, he wanted to pile up enough achievements so when he got his, it’d be of the Highest Rank, just below the Families who had Demon Kings ruling them.
He wanted it to be higher than that of his Father’s Clan who had cast him out when he was younger.
As for McEnda III, he was the son of Demon King McEnda II. He didn’t act like it but the man thousands of people in the McEnda Household with expectations of him.
Given how much of a ’free’ man he was, he only cared about a few people’s Expectations.
His Parents, His grandparents, and Sigesi’s parents and grandparents as well. Everyone else didn’t matter.
These people had very high expectations of him, so he was preparing himself to blow their minds at the Summit.
Because McEnda and Alvey were busy with these important issues, they had little time to focus on the Serial Killer case and had just dispatched a few Brigadier Generals while they focused on more pressing matters.
When Arthur heard about the Summit, Arthur expressed his desire to follow them and when he said this, Alvey questioned why the boy believed he wasn’t going to follow them in the first place.
Regardless of whether he wanted to or not, they planned to drag him along, knowing fully well the Demon Kings would send them back to bring Arthur with them if they didn’t.
As such, he was coming to the Summit whether he liked it or not. He did like it so there were no problems there.
