Chapter 441: Hidden Strangeness.
Aramisian Military City
Cheigh Region
January 6th
531st Divine Year
"They’ve deployed a Defensive Divine Magic Formation; this would make things harder for us."
Aravae spoke up as she used a ’Farsight’ spell to look at the walls of the military city in the distance. The Formation she spoke about was a massive interconnection of thousands of Magic circles linked together with Divinity and built to provide support for the Aramisian soldiers.
Since the majority of their stronger forces were on the frontlines where Alvey and McEnda were, they had to rely on these Formations which consumed a lot of energy to keep active for long.
"I’d like to say I can do something about it, but that formation is at least 2000km wide and has tens of thousands of soldiers within it, no way I can get through all that and disable the formation."
Arthur shook his head as he studied the formation with his eyes glowing behind his mask. Even if he used Anti-Divinity, destroying the formation would take too much time and even if individual parts are destroyed, it could still function if they cut off those parts.
"We don’t have the time or chance to go around looking for gaps in their defences. There’s an army outside led by an Inferior Stage Transcendent Elf.
I’d handle him.
The Sovereign Realms should not be more than 5000 so while we hold the numerical advantage, still don’t let your guards down; They have the territorial advantage."
Aravae declared as she got up from her seat, giving orders to her subordinate Major Generals.
"You would lead your men and advance into the Formation’s range. I can’t guarantee we will have the numbers advantage inside, but we definitely won’t be behind.
We don’t know what they are planning by capturing so many soldiers like this but we have to stop them and rescue them, Understood?"
"Yes, Ma’am!"
Everyone immediately nodded and Aravae gave the order to move out.
The entire army and its commanders started to advance, following Aravae and the Sovereign Demons behind her. The army was already close to Cheigh so it didn’t take more than one hour for the attack to commence.
As soon as both armies spotted each other, all forces advanced according to their own battle formations.
The Aramisian Elf, catching sight of Aravae, wasted no time in rallying his soldiers before charging headlong towards her. He had zero intentions of letting the High-Rank Noble Demon wreak havoc on his army.
As the battle of Transcendents began, the Aramisian and Demon forces on the ground clashed with thunderous fury.
Blades clashed, spells erupted, and the ground shook beneath the weight of their conflict. Arrows flew, and the air crackled with magical energy as the two sides engaged in a fierce struggle for supremacy.
Amidst the chaos, the battle between the two Transcendents intensified, their every movement leaving devastation in their wake.
Arthur decided to play support today, summoning small creatures who had support abilities while casting Blessings of Anti-Divinity and Destruction on the Sovereigns.
He did not use his Progenitor Authority, deciding to conserve it in case of any unexpected occurrences.
The boy also had an entire Brigade under his command and he issued orders to them from afar, sending them through a weak point in the Divine Magic formation.
The moment they entered, thousands of Aramisians charged at them to stop them and though their individual levels were lower, the number more than made up for the lack of strength.
The demons killed all who stepped in their path, showing no mercy.
Surprisingly, it took several hours of fighting for a major gap to finally appear in the Aramisian army’s battle formation. This allowed the Demon’s Army to press forward, riding on the momentum Aravae had gained when she returned with the severed arm of the Aramisian Elf she fought.
Though she defeated her opponent, it also took a lot out of her so he was not able to kill him, allowing him a chance to escape.
Although she let him escape, the Demon still watched the elf closely, just in case he decided to go with a suicide attack.
Most of her focus was on the Demon Army which had advanced into the Divine Magic formation, facing a severely hostile environment.
Light Law element and Divinity concentration increased several times, making it harder to gather other elements or energies for use.
The first Brigade of Demons didn’t rush deep inside, instead, they turned around and began to kill the nearby Aramisians to widen the gap.
Aravae watched this closely, sending in the occasional Tier 5 Magic attack to support her Generals in killing any Aramisian Sovereign who seemed ’troublesome’.
Thanks to this, more Sovereign Demons arrived, which was quickly followed by the thousands of Legendary Realms, tens of thousands of Epics and even grandmaster realm foot soldiers.
At this moment, the Transcendent Elf who had healed his wounds tried to sneakily join the fray and push the demons back but Aravae who had been keeping tabs on his movements noticed this immediately and set out to face him in combat.
With Aravae’s attention on the Elf, Arthur assumed full command and directed the soldiers’ general movements.
The Demon forces opened a huge gap in the Aramisian Army formation and the Demon army was advancing deeper and deeper into Cheigh. They also had the numbers advantage as well.
However, Arthur felt things were strange.
’The number of Sovereigns...it doesn’t add up with what the scouting reports said.
They should have twice this number of Sovereign Realm Existences. How come they haven’t appeared yet?
Any more than this and the Demon Army would secure a landslide victory.’
Arthur temporarily handed command over to a Mid-ranked Demon Major General and summoned the ’Invisible Scout’, cloaking himself with its concealment ability as he dashed into the fray.
He flew through the soldiers and went closer towards the vanguard, watching the situation closely while studying for any strangeness.
Aravae pushed back the Elf and looked around with confusion when she could not sense Arthur. She then tried to contact him via their earpieces, but Arthur switched it off before focusing on the battle raging around him.
He occasionally killed any Legendary Realm that happened to fall in his path, but in the heat of the moment, no one noticed these Legendries suddenly dying.
’In the heat of the moment...?’
The moment he thought that, the boy’s eyes widened as he formed a conjecture.
’Could It be that the Aramisians have abandoned Cheigh? It does not have much strategic value and we would not be attacking it if it wasn’t for the fact that they captured demons and kept them here.
If they have abandoned here, they are doing a good job of covering it up.
The Legendries keep throwing themselves at the Sovereign Demons, hindering them down. The tension from battle prevents everyone from noticing this strangeness...’
[Master, I think the Aramisians are purposely baiting the Demons to enter this Divine Magic Formation. Look over there, those soldiers just retreated and left a wide gap open.
Unless their commander is daft, there’s no way he would call a retreat in such an area where they have the territorial and numerical advantage.]
Celestia gave her two cents about the situation and Arthur nodded before flying towards the Divine Magic Formation.
Upon entering it, he sensed that hidden within the Divinity and Light law energy, was destruction law energy as well.
’The Destruction energy is in the ground...’
Arthur summoned Lostvayne and stabbed the sword into the earth, intending to use it as a conduit to scan the ground.
However, the moment he did, Lostvayne ejected itself from the ground and started waving around while humming.
’Celestia, translate.’
[Lostvayne says we should ’Run!’.]
Now that certainly wasn’t a good sign.
As if on cue, Arthur’s universal law energy began thrumming within his body and when he checked the law that was reacting, he saw it was the law of Fate he had been playing with recently.
Immediately, he activated his Pseudo-Authority of Time and he was greeted with a strange sight. Automatically, his left eye began showing him ’Parallel Pathways’—the alternate possibilities of his current path in life and he saw that many of the Parallel pathways were slowly converging towards the main path he was on.
These alternate possible futures were reduced by over half before the changes stopped.
This gave Arthur a bad premonition and he quickly drew in ambient cosmic energy, redirecting it to his Pseudo-Origin core and activating a technique.
|¬Pseudo Authority of Time: Eye of the Future! ¬|
The energy of the law of time within his left eye swirled around wildly before manifesting as a series of images akin to a filmstrip playing out before him.
Through this unique sight, Arthur gained glimpses into the potential outcomes of his current situation and the events yet to unfold.
[Master?]
Celestia called out to him but Arthur was unresponsive, his body rooted to the spot as goosebumps formed on his skin and chills ran down his spine.
His vision suddenly went blank and Arthur dropped down on one knee, breathing heavily while a single teardrop of silver blood dripped down from his left eye.
