Chapter 348: Temporal Restoration
"Now then, about my earlier offer?"
Alvey snapped his fingers when Arthur spoke, creating a dozen orbs of light law energy. He then proceeded to fire beams from these orbs, and the speed at which the beams moved out was so fast that even he was barely able to catch sight of them.
For the humans, elves and flugels caught in Arthur’s bounded field, running away was impossible. The cosmic energy the boy wove into the boundary line of the technique was not something they could unravel.
As such, the only fate that awaited them was having their bodies perforated all over with beams of searing hot light energy.
"What do you think? Projectiles are useless inside it, and if I were to designate you as an ally, I can speed up your attacks by up to three times.
There’s a lot more but you don’t need to know that."
When Alvey heard Arthur’s words, he simply gazed at the boy in silence, trying to discern his true intentions. From the power he could sense in Arthur, he really did not need to deploy a bounded field to deal with this lot.
Especially since Alvey had killed off all those who were above the inferior stage.
Yet, the boy still did so.
And it did not take him long to arrive at the reason why.
’He’s warning me?’
—You may be stronger than me, but I’m not a pushover either. —
That was what he felt like Arthur was trying to tell him.
"Pfft...hahahahahaha!!"
Alvey burst into laughter when his thoughts arrived at that conclusion. Existence realm-wise, Arthur was on the level of a Lower-Ranked demon, even if he had mid-rank strength.
So, in a way, it felt like a low-ranked demon was trying to ’warn’ him, something that would normally be impossible since a lot of them didn’t even dare raise their heads without permission when he was nearby.
"Hahaha...alright kid. I get your message."
When he spoke, Arthur disabled the bounded field and let the corpses of the Legendries drop to the floor.
The other foot soldiers had retreated in fear while the demons gave chase while casting all sorts of demonic magic against them.
Many other demons stayed back and cheered for their General whom they had seen taking on the commanders alone, as well as Arthur who appeared to have helped them as well.
The battle was over, and the human/flugel/elven army was vanquished.
Alvey had the demons who gave chase return after a while, and then he moved his attention to the next agenda at hand: dealing with the destroyed city.
Everything, from his office building to the city’s infrastructure and so on.
If the situation got too bad, he might have to consider abandoning this entire military city, an outcome he wished to avoid after how much effort he put into developing It in the first place.
"For starters, I’m gonna need a place to sit."
Arthur looked at the building they were initially in, the only structure still standing in the middle of kilometres of devastation.
Thanks to Alvey’s protection, only the topmost floor of the building was affected by the explosion, while the rest remained strong.
The demon sighed when he thought about what was most likely the reason why this place had been attacked by the coalition force of Aramis’s races.
At the moment, there was a very big battle happening on the frontlines of the war, and the intel they had showed that there were zero existences above the Sovereign realm in this new military city the demons had built.
Since they also discovered it was one of the places the demons were using to summon more of their comrades into Aramis, they knew that this was their best bet at taking this place out.
Their spies had caught on to the presence of the Legendary realm demons Alvey summoned earlier in the day, but nothing higher, so they sent a detached force led by Superior Stage Legendries and even used a mana bomb to target the building that appeared to be the commander’s quarters first.
Before the attack, however, they never discovered the reason why all the mid-ranked demons originally in this military city were sent out to the frontlines.
It was only when the attack had begun that they discovered the reason—the presence of a demon much stronger than all those mid-ranks combined.
But even so, according to the words of the flugel’s commander, Alvey was supposed to be on the frontlines.
The fact that he was here instead, hinted at some sort of foul play.
Either their intelligence had been compromised, or the demon had simply deceived them all.
The correct answer; was the latter option.
"Jabberwocky, disappear from there as naturally as possible. Don’t inform McEnda about what happened."
He held up a communicator and spoke into it, sending a message to one of his subordinates who was not present.
Alvey knew the humans who had escaped were going to report his presence, which would then make their superiors cross-check their information.
So, he made sure to wipe all traces of his trickery as promptly as possible.
’Can’t have them catching on now. After all, I still need that when I want to attack the Mobile Assault Garden on the ocean.
Still, they thought they could use the Archipelagos as cover to go around and launch an attack on this part of the continent.
If only they knew...’
Returning the phone-like device to his pocket, he flapped his wings and took to the skies, right below the clouds and surveyed the city’s state from above.
This caused a frown to appear on his face as what he could see was a giant circle of scorched earth in the middle of the city.
Area-wise, it covered just as much area as the untouched parts.
"Yep, it’s a lost cause."
He quickly ordered his subordinate on the front lines to redirect his men back to the other military city they had stayed in before as there was no way they could return here—their houses had been turned to ashes after all.
As he was surveying the city, he sensed a surge of law energy coming from the centre, where his own quarters were and upon descending, he saw Arthur, standing in front of the half-destroyed building with his Pseudo-Authority active.
Just when the man was about to ask what he was doing, the boy issued a command in a voice that had all the demons present, even him, to wince lightly.
|¬Pseudo Authority of Time: Temporal Reversal. ¬|
’?! A True voice?! No...it doesn’t quite sound like any of the Lordship’s voices...but it’s very close.’
For a moment, Alvey felt like he was being spoken to by a Demon Lord or a Demon King.
’Just how many shocks is this kid gonna give me?’
A faint ethereal glow of blue light enveloped the partially damaged building, and just like Arthur had commanded, everything began to reverse to its previous state.
The twisted metal girders began to straighten and shattered windows repaired themselves in a shimmering cascade.
The rumble of destruction reversed, and debris lifted from the ground, reassembling into its original forms as the building’s crumbling walls knit themselves back together.
The compound the building was in was not exempted from the area of effect, bathed in the glow of time law energy and returned to its original state.
All the nearby demons who saw this were awestruck as they saw the city’s Headquarters being restored to its former glory, a process that took only a few moments.
"Whew...that takes a lot of energy."
[Of course, it does. Temporal Reversal on this scale, especially as the target was destroyed by such strong divinity is not something one with a Pseudo-Authority would normally be able to do.]
"I know. This is only possible because the building was not completely destroyed. I can’t restore anything that has faced ’complete destruction’, after all."
The boy nonchalantly chatted with his sword, as if he did not pull off such a ridiculous feat, simply because he wanted a proper place to sit down.
’I also improved on my ability to peruse the world’s records...using that I could find out the original appearance of the building and know what I was rewinding back to.’
"Now, that’s out of the way. I really want a snack."
The boy dug his hand into his subspace while walking towards the building’s doors, searching for something quick to eat while Celestia hovered around him, asking for more movies to watch.
"Come to think of it, how technologically advanced is this world? I hope it’s on the same level as other Prime worlds I’ve been to."
He muttered to himself as he entered the building, leaving outside, a group of dumbfounded demons.
