Chapter 312: Plans and Preparations II
[I understand what you’re bothered about. But since you’re on a time limit, you don’t have the luxury to think about that, do you?]
Hearing Undine’s words, Layla had a pensive look on her face for a while before eventually sighing and clapping her cheeks twice.
"Yes. We don’t have that Luxury."
Turning to Ayaan who was wondering why she was basically slapping herself, she pulled out a box containing about a dozen handheld transceivers.
"Here, these are two-way communication devices that are faster and more efficient than whatever means you used to contact Sakaala before.
I want you to spread this among your fellow Benevolent gods in the other countries and we’d use it to contact ourselves and exchange information.
Each of them has a line that links straight to my own communication device so you all can directly speak to me when needed."
"Um...Layla, why do you have a box of walkie-talkies in your interspatial ring?"
"Because of a certain childhood friend that I have called Arthur who gave me a ring filled with tons of miscellaneous stuff to use during the expedition.
Didn’t he give you guys one?"
Layla’s reply made Esna pull out the ring that Arthur had tossed to her the night before the expedition began, and upon scanning through its contents, she was shocked to see that there were indeed tons of random items that she may or may never use inside.
"..."
The sight rendered the godslayer girl genuinely speechless. She even noticed that there were antennas, radio receivers and transmitters packaged together with the box of walkie-talkies.
".... but why?"
"Are you really questioning the logic behind any of Arthur’s random actions?"
"...good point."
After that little scene that made Ayaan more and more curious about this fifth person in the teenager’s group that they called ’Arthur’, Layla went on to explain how they could mount the antennas and how to use the walkie-talkies.
"Simple, right?"
"Using these things you call ’walkie-talkies’ is simple enough. But mounting these ’antennas’, that’s going to be a bit challenging."
"Worry not, I’d go over it again and have you practice before you go off.
What I want you to do with these, is to give them to your fellow benevolent gods in other countries, the ones who are on this continent; and have them oversee the mobilization of military forces in these other countries.
If any of them refuses to mobilize the forces to fight against the Malevolent gods’ armies willingly, use this to contact me. I’d come over personally and deal with them.
Flying at top speed with a combination of multiple teleportations, I should be able to make a round trip and back within a day."
After that, she passed the baton on to Esna who was the most well versed in magic in the group. The godslayer girl activated her Memory Palace ability that made it nigh impossible for her to forget anything she had seen, scrolling through the list of spells she had learnt over the past two years.
"Okay, so I got 7 spells that would be perfect and can be cast by the people of this world.
Some are water and wind elemental so I’d teach Nicole the spells so she can help me out; is that okay with you?"
"Mhmm."
Receiving a nod of affirmation from Nicole, she then went on to explain the details of the spells to the others.
"Basically, the spells can be categorized into three groups.
Spells to boost their stamina, boost their marching speed, and rejuvenate them at regular intervals when they’re taking breaks.
Using these, I bet we can cut down the time it takes for the troops to get to this country by more than half."
"Those are some pretty convenient spells you got there..."
The god of flames could not help but comment as both he and everyone present knew how important ’speed’ was when it came to deploying troops to certain positions.
"We have magic that can boost the attack powers of troops by a small percentage, but none that can do the same for their marching speed."
"But such spells are bound to guzzle up a lot of magic power, right?"
"They definitely would. We’d need multiple mages to cast them."
"Yeah. And..."
While the others in the room were discussing the spells Esna just told them about, the girl used photocopying magic to make copies of the spell circles and instructions.
She then passed the papers over to Ayaan and the others, giving some copies to Layla, Edward and Nicole too.
"Considering what we’ve seen so far, I think this one would be hard for the magicians of this world to cast."
"But Ayaan here should be able to do that with ease, right?"
"A Tier 3 Army Magic Spell, huh? I should be able to learn it given a few hours.
I’d teach it to the others too so they can use them on the soldiers to make them march faster."
Ayaan replied to Esna’s question without even looking up from the papers in his hands, his tone filled with confidence that he could indeed easily master these spells.
That much was expected, he was an existence that had reached the Legendary Realm in the past; mastering a few Tier 3 Spells would be a piece of cake for him.
"It’d be nice if your fellow gods could lead the soldiers to a rendezvous point in this empire."
Edward chipped in as he sorted through the spells, seeing that one of them was a lightning elemental spell he was already quite familiar with.
"Can I get a map of this continent, please? As detailed as possible."
Count Vako fulfilled Layla’s request, providing her with the map that he had, something that was limited to the Nobles of the Empire.
Despite this, the man knew that now was not the time to be worried about the rules set by the nobles who wanted the commoners to remain ignorant about certain matters and quickly cleared the table before spreading the map over it.
Layla pulled out a pen, scanning through the map with her eyes and spotting Vako City easily.
"So, we’re here right now, and this is your capital over here...so in order to invade this capital, where would be a good point to rendezvous?"
Ady’s brow twitched when he heard Layla muttering about how to invade the Capital of his empire, but after remembering how that capital had now been overrun by ancient monsters and Malevolent gods, he sighed and decided to chip in.
"If you’re coming in from the east. This would be the best place to collate your forces. It’s a fort town that has lots of soldiers on standby too.
Hopefully, the commanding officer is someone we can reason with.
Then..."
With the help of Ady, Count Vako and Ayaan, Layla was able to get a greater understanding of the terrains in the Empire and the three men’s experience and wit served to help her in deducing plans of invasion of the capital that had now become the Malevolent gods’ base.
Ayaan pointed out the countries where the other Benevolent gods were currently, and they were able to decide the perfect routes for the soldiers to move through.
During this, Undine only hovered around and watched them, inwardly expressing her admiration for how Layla took charge of the entire situation and the discussion.
"These three should combine over here, at this border, then march straight to this city here. Then the next group should move over here should use this route.
As much as I would love a pincer attack, we don’t know much about the situation in the capital now so let’s just have everyone meet up at this point where we can have a straight march to the capital city."
"We’d have to send out scouts to the capital to find out what the situation is there. I’d contact the Churches of Lightning and Wind and have them do that. Their templars are the fastest."
Sakaala chipped in nervously, still not fully taking in the situation of her being in the same room as the god she worshipped.
"We’d use this formation to march so we cannot get encircled by the monsters, and even If they attempt it..."
"...We can easily break out.
This is quite the military formation, it has very few weaknesses."
Ady couldn’t help but admire Layla’s suggestions, with Count Vako and the Knight Captain agreeing with his words.
"How do you know all this?"
Ayaan had to ask as Layla’s skill at strategizing was quite noteworthy, and from her words and suggestions, he could tell she had quite a decent amount of on-field experience.
"My Dad put me through some pretty realistic simulations.
Anyway, copy these Esna."
The godslayer girl made copies of the maps that had the planned routes drawn on them, along with certain other instructions and notes that Layla and the three men had made over the past hour of planning, giving the copies over to Ayaan who looked a bit at a loss on how to carry all the items that he had been given.
