♧♧♧

This quartet was also the reason why he was here in the first place, as his Lord had told him that the ’aliens’ who were going to interfere in his and the other malevolent gods’ revivals, were going to be at this city soon.

From his Lord, he had heard that they were only Superior Stage grandmasters and he felt that the monster army would have been enough to overwhelm them, so all he needed to do was sit back and ensure their deaths, however, when they finally emerged, he was met with Epic realm existences like himself and not grandmasters.

’Was Lord’s information wrong? But he deduced it via the law of fate. Unless they increased in strength AFTER he deduced it...’

Gilbalar instantly arrived at the correct conclusion.

While he felt confident in defeating three inferior-stage Epic realms, he had to be careful as he did not know what means they had to interfere in the malevolent gods’ revivals, and Esna’s presence made his wariness towards them double.

Plus, the strange weapons in Layla’s hands, and the fact that he could see multiple elementals flocking towards Nicole.

’Those are all high-level elementals...and the one in her hands is the one I caught spying on me earlier and nearly killed.

Although they’re all inferior stages, I should treat them as if they were Intermediate stages.

And then that red-eyed girl, she’s the one I should take out first!’

With that thought, he flared his energy wildly and generated dozens of black flame balls around him, but despite this, the three Epic Realm teenagers didn’t show any signs of getting ready for battle.

"Guys, I’m gonna be on the sidelines for this one."

Esna spoke while shaking her head, and the other three couldn’t help but agree with her words.

The four of them had abnormal strength levels, in the sense that their overall combat power allowed them to fight people with higher existence stages or realms.

The Epic trio could take on Intermediate stages one on one, while Esna could at least defeat a weak Inferior stage Epic realm on her own.

However, a Superior stage was a whole different ball game for her and even with her godslayer abilities, winning was but a pipe dream.

Besides, his attacks were definitely powerful enough to overcome her durability and she did not want to know what would occur when that happened.

"I’d stick to support. Besides, my presence here is already a debuff on him, at least 10 percent or so. It’d be higher if I was stronger but we’re gonna have to make do with that."

Esna spoke as she roused her magic energy and prepared to cast enhancement spells on the three.

Simply because the one casting the magic on them was a godslayer, their attacks while under the effect of that magic would deal more damage to god race members, bypass a certain percentage of their durability, give the recipients higher divinity resistance and the likes.

It’d work the same against everyone else, but just because the opponent was a god, they had their efficiency and power increased exponentially.

That’s just how broken Slayer race abilities are.

"Mr Malevolent god of flames, huh? You really are a god, both in name and in race.

Would it be possible for you to go tell your boss to stop trying to kill us?"

Gilbalar’s brows furrowed upon hearing Layla’s words, taking it as a taunt and retaliating aggressively.

The floating orbs of black flames all shot towards the girl, however, half of them changed directions midway and suddenly shot towards Esna with twice the speed.

**BOOMM!!!

A ’small’ explosion rang out, with a smoke cloud rising up into the sky, however, he could tell that he had not hit his target.

’She disappeared?’

"Boo!"

Esna reappeared behind him and tapped his shoulders, instantly branding him with a mark before disappearing right afterwards.

He wanted to use his energy to find out what she had done to him but Nicole and Layla who had dealt with the other orbs of flames didn’t let him.

Nicole launched dozens of ice spears towards him, to which he responded by snapping his fingers and increasing the ambient temperature to a level where they melted instantly.

Surprisingly the heat did not affect the girl at all, as he noticed a thin layer of blue aura surrounding her body.

He didn’t have much time to pay her too much mind as he had to dodge the bullets that came from Layla’s pistol, seconds before she suddenly pulled out a sword and slashed at him.

She released a slash of her dark aura, one he countered by swinging his hands and releasing a wave of aura.

**BOOM!!

The two auras collided and exploded, creating a small cloud of dust which he cleared up using basic wind magic.

However, when the dust cloud cleared up, Layla had disappeared from his field of view.

’Behind!’

His senses warned just in time, as he tilted his head to the side and narrowly avoided Layla’s point-blank-range gunshot.

The loud noise from the pistol resounded in his ears as he turned around and coated his palm in pure divinity, grabbing Layla’s arm faster than she could teleport out.

"Guh!"

The girl groaned lightly, as the divinity that coated his arm burned her skin even more than the flames he was using.

Gilbalar spun around and threw her body towards the ground, before expanding the divinity coat around his palm to cover his entire arm. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

His fist was engulfed in black divinity-enhanced flames as he shot towards the falling girl while pulling back his arm.

"HA!"

He instantly caught up to her and punched forward, but right before his punch connected, he caught the sight of white lightning from the corner of his eyes.

**BAMMM!!!

"Tsk."

Gilbalar clicked his tongue as his fist collided with a large great shield that suddenly appeared right in front of Layla at the last moment, courtesy of a brown-haired human boy.

Edward grunted lightly, his arms trembling from the force of the punch but he reinforced his body with his aura and braced for impact.

**BOOM!

They both crashed on the ground, with Gilbalar’s fist forcing Edward back by a few metres due to the momentum generated by the force of the god’s punch.

As for Edward, he took advantage of this, holding out his right hand and summoning a weapon that was not his usual longsword,

Instead, he summoned a long sledgehammer that was already filled with Esna’s energy and had been enchanted with a physical damage bonus buff.

"Nicole! Layla!"

The two black-haired girls responded to Esna’s shout, with Nicole stretching her arm towards the hammer and coating it with her water element.

Layla on the other hand, ignored the pain in her arm from Gilbalar’s divinity and stomped her foot on the ground, creating a massive three-ringed magic circle.

Three ropes of pure darkness emerged from the circle, wrapping around the god’s legs and torso, restraining both his movements and magic power.

She considered using her mystic eyes for a moment but held back as she did not want to reveal that card this early into the fight.

By the time she had done this, Edward had already used his shield to parry Gilbalar’s fist, before spinning around clockwise and then slamming the god’s torso with the sledgehammer with all his strength.

’Physical Damage Breach. Activate!’

The mark Esna had placed on him earlier was activated, lowering his physical damage resistance in the same instant the sledgehammer slammed into him.

***BAAAMM!!!!

"Ga-!"

Gilbalar’s shout was cut short as the sledgehammer’s special ability of knockback enhancement activated.

There was a booming sound alongside a shockwave that spread out omnidirectionally, and within a second, Gilbalar’s body had already been knocked over 500 metres into the air.

By the time Edward had finally stopped spinning and stabilized his body, the poor god had already been sent flying more than two kilometres into the distance.

"Whoa! That’s a lot further than I expected."

Edward remarked as he could see just how far off Gilbalar had gone before finally crashing down on the ground.

The large cloud of dust rising up into the air was too hard to miss, after all.

"Layla, how’s your hand?"

He turned around and asked the green-eyed girl who stretched out her arm and looked at the burn mark on it with a frown.

"Tsk...the divinity is impeding my regeneration."

Gilbalar was a god, and he had the energy that 99% of the god race’s members possessed innately, something that was harmful to races like demons and Devils; divinity.

"Hold Still."

Nicole spoke as she used water magic to envelop Layla’s arm and begin healing it. The girl had experience from her sparring with Arthur where the boy used his divinity against Layla and ended up injuring her.

That had also helped build up Layla’s resistance to divinity as the amount of divinity Gilbalar used would have normally dealt more damage to a Devil of her level.

[You kids should not dawdle here too long.]
