Chapter 220: Cattleya’s Reaction

While Arthur was listening to Lucifer’s story and Layla’s group was battling the monkey-like monsters, the directors of the academy who were in charge of the realm expedition were currently sprawled on the floor in the middle of a gigantic crater easily the size of an average country.
Their bodies were riddled with holes and blood poured out of their wounds, nevertheless, they were beings that were at least in the mid-tier of the deity realm, as such, they were not at risk of death.
The normally blue skies were currently a deep red colour as the essence of the law of destruction covered the entire planet.
If one were to look at it from space at the moment, one would see a giant red planet right beside Aeturn.
Suddenly, the deep red skies cracked as a being entered the atmosphere of planet Lonope.
That being, Crown Prince of the Devildom, Creusery Vaughn, looked around for the source of the aura of destruction covering the entire planet.
’There.’
It didn’t take him long to do so and he blitzed towards the location of the source, his younger sister, Cattleya, who was about to murder one of the ’big ten’ directors of the academy.
He grabbed Cattleya’s sword of aether and shattered it with his bare hands before grabbing her and teleporting directly to her mother’s location.
"Serenitatem."
"Huh?"
Before Cattleya could react, her mother grabbed her head and cast a spell as two magic circles manifested at the sides of her head.
"N..o, m-m..u.st f..in...d...."
The light in her eyes went out as she collapsed backwards into Creusery’s arms. The crown prince lifted his unconscious sister and laid her on the bed behind him before turning in the direction of her mother...and his father.
"Let’s put the fact that Leya is not in her right mind at the moment on hold. Her reaction was not unfounded, Arthur did indeed go missing.
Or rather, he isn’t showing up on any of the academy’s scanners, it’s as if he isn’t in Varona anymore."
Diablo frowned slightly as he heard Creusery’s words, he thought about the possibilities and arrived at one conclusion.
"My father’s Vestige."
"Your father’s what now?"
"His Vestige. A remnant of his soul he left behind, it resides in Varona. It is also part of the reason Arthur went to Varona."
Hearing this new piece of information from Diablo left Creusery and Inglis surprised, they never expected that there was a piece of the former Devil King’s soul left.
"So, you knew of this beforehand?"
Diablo nodded in affirmation at Inglis’ question. Creusery then asked another question.
"So, you’re saying that wherever Arthur is, he’s most likely with this ’vestige’?"
"Yes, it is also the only thing in Varona capable of disabling the trackers on the academy-issued watches. Those things were personally designed by the Original after all."
Diablo then went on to give them more reasons why he believed Arthur was with Lucifer’s Vestige as Creusery inwardly hoped Arthur would be out of wherever he was by the time Cattleya woke up.

As Diablo was accurately deducing Arthur’s location, the young progenitor was listening to Lucifer’s story.
The entity named ’Lucifer Morningstar’ was a pure-blooded devil who had gained the title of Devil King within a thousand years after his birth.
He did this by ousting his father and taking over the throne through a not-so-peaceful coup d’état. Nearly half of the Hell universe’s original main entities perished in that battle.
Of the survivors, only one of them still lived to tell the tale.
That was the current Holder of sloth, Grand Duke Belphegor.
As this was an event that occurred millions of years ago, when the hell universe was still in its original position in the multiverse, the records of this event had been erased completely.
Lucifer made sure of this, after all.
After becoming devil king and conquering the nearby universes, Lucifer ventured out into the greater cosmos with a single goal in mind.
He wished to know what lay above the monarch realm of existence.
And it didn’t take him long to find out.
Perhaps it was due to his great fortune or perhaps fate willed it, the first being he encountered, was an ancient breed devil who was on orders from the progenitor devil, to search for universes ruled by the devil race.
Encountering such a being not long after Lucifer set out into the multiverse could only be described as a stroke of luck.
It was precisely because of Lucifer’s encounter with this ancient, that the Devil King was able to acquire a great deal of the knowledge and resources he utilized in the process of breaking into what lay above the monarch realm.
The requirements, the restrictions, and the other necessary elements.
All were provided by the Ancient breed on orders from the progenitor devil. The reason why?
It was simply because the hedonistic Progenitor Devil Quinn Rhodes Gill took an interest in the young devil king from an unknown universe who had managed to achieve cosmic superiority on his own.
The reason Lucifer was even able to defeat his father who was a superior stage monarch realm existence, was because he was already a cosmic being at the time.
After ascending to the realm above the monarch realm, Lucifer decided to head to the domain of one of the unique existences he had just come to know about.
A Candidate.
It was the master of a universe millions of Giga parsecs away from the Hell universe, and a fellow Arch devil just like lucifer.
The end result of the battle between the two almost left that universe torn in two, literally.
The power wielded by the universal master who was also a candidate for destruction, in his home universe, was nothing to scoff at.
Adding the fact that both combatants, were above the monarch realm of existence and had both achieved cosmic superiority, such a result was not unexpected at all.
The main entities of that universe who witnessed this battle described Lucifer as ’a bright star that suddenly appeared on one fine morning, bringing destruction in his wake’.
Some say the reason Lucifer began to be called ’Morningstar’, was partly due to this.
Upon defeating the universal master, Lucifer took the ’Aspect of Destruction’ possessed by the late candidate, essentially joining the candidate selection himself.
Now, the term ’Candidate’ has been thrown around a lot but not much light has been shed on the topic.
To understand more about the beings known as ’Candidates’ and the powers they possess, one has to first start by understanding exactly what they are candidates for.
