Chapter 202: Elemental Quartet
**BOOM BOOM!!! BOOM!!!!! BOOM!!!!!
Naturally, as Layla was in close proximity to Aurora, she would have also been affected by the explosions, however, she had an orb of ether on her head like a helmet, preventing the explosions from damaging her.
"Rising Meteor!"
Esna’s shout rang out as the ground trembled and an enormous star-shaped pillar was erected from the ground beneath Layla, Edward, and Aurora.
Nicole opened her wings and kicked off the ground into the air, flying up faster than the speed at which the pillar rose up into the air.
Edward on the other hand, slashed towards Aurora’s hand that was holding Layla’s sword with his longsword covered in lightning, causing her to take distance to avoid it.
As she came out of the dust cloud, her unscathed appearance could be seen, despite the hundreds of small explosions from the bullets earlier.
"Water Ether Technique: Water Dragon’s Roar."
Nicole’s voice could be heard from above as waves of Ether gushed forth from her body and manifested the head of a giant snake-like sea dragon with sharp teeth and fired towards Aurora.
Esna snapped her fingers as the earth under Aurora’s feet suddenly became soft as a quagmire and snagged her foot, preventing her from moving.
Layla and Edward simultaneously jumped off the rising pillar of earth while firing attacks towards Aurora.
A halo of dark light spread out around Layla’s outstretched hand, which then went on to encircle her whole hand. She then launched three beams of darkness-attributed ether towards Aurora.
Edward on the other hand, released four lightning-filled slashes towards Aurora, before being grabbed by Layla and pulled away from the pillar as he had no wings to fly down.
****KABOOOOMMMM!!!!!!
Nicole’s water dragon’s roar, landed on the top of the column right after, causing it to shatter into pieces. The water dragon then bit Aurora’s body and shot towards the ground.
They felt this attack was successful until they heard Aurora’s voice in their heads at the same time.
[Didn’t I say so? The real me would counter-attack.]
Layla suddenly felt her stomach getting hot and looked down to see a glowing red rune on it.
"Shit!"
She hurriedly flung Edward towards Esna on the ground, who used magic to catch him, before then attempting to disable the rune.
However, it was too late, even if it was not, Layla did not possess the skill to disable Aurora’s rune in the first place.
**BOOOMM!!!!
"Layla!!"
The rune exploded and Layla’s body crashed down to the ground with great momentum, enough to crater the ground where she landed.
Nicole screamed and attempted to head towards her but she heard Undine’s voice in her head shouting to not do so.
[Don’t! Behind you!]
Nicole reflexively turned around and saw a dozen swords of glass form out of thin air and fire towards her at breakneck speed.
"Glass Magic: Mobile Glass swords."
"Just because I’m a phoenix doesn’t mean I’d only use flames."
Nicole hurriedly roused her energy and created a gigantic ice shield with ether to block the swords, however, they were stronger than she expected.
**SHATTER!!!
She hurriedly created another shield as the first one broke, and another under it in case the second broke, which it did, faster than she could move out of the sword’s line of fire.
Wind magic suddenly wrapped around one of the swords and it began spinning rapidly like a drill, causing the third shield to break almost instantly.
However, instead of attacking Nicole, it attacked the being seated atop her head.
[Huh?]
Undine hurriedly grabbed the sword with strength unexpected from her tiny body and flung it away before wrapping Nicole’s body in a shield of water to block the rest.
Down on the ground, Esna tried to hurry to Layla’s aid, but the water dragon that was holding Aurora exploded and fireballs came flying out of the explosion towards her and Edward’s direction.
Edward summoned his great shield and dashed towards Esna, blocking the fireballs about to hit her and absorbing their energy.
**CCRACKLEE!!
Lightning crackled around his sword as he rose it up and stabbed it into the ground. Storm clouds gathered in the air and a large lightning bolt crashed down on where he believed Aurora was.
Unfortunately;
"I’m not there anymore though?"
He heard Aurora’s voice behind him and turned around to slam her with his shield but was instead punched with enough force to shatter his shield and send him flying.
**BAM!!
Esna on the other hand clenched her fist and filled it with mana, punching towards Aurora’s head as fast as she could.
Her other hand was already moving as she cast a light attribute spell with it. Multiple shards of light, with four lines going through each shard, manifested around Aurora and fired towards her from all directions.
Aurora dodged Esna’s fist and spun around before grabbing her arm and flinging the teenage girl over her shoulders, slamming her into the ground.
As for the light spears, she released a small smile before creating a barrier of glass to surround her and deflect them all.
The next moment, her legs froze over and over a dozen chains of ice simultaneously burst out from the ground and ensnared her both hands.
She melted the chains almost instantly and looked up to see Nicole’s figure, coated in a water-based suit of armour and holding a lance pointed forward, charging towards her.
Creating a similar lance out of flames, she clashed with Nicole’s lance in midair, resulting in a vapour explosion.
**BOOM!!
Amidst the smoke, Aurora felt a kick to her arm, followed by a sudden cold as her arm froze over. She flexed her fingers and shattered the ice, only to be met with another Lance to the face.
She attempted to catch it with her other hand but two palms coated in lightning, grabbed her hand and kept it in place.
The owner of those palms, Esna, poured more magic into her palms, hoping to at least paralyze Aurora for a split second.
Nicole’s lance hit her square in the face, with the tip of the lance stabbing through her head and bursting out from the back of her head.
Blood splattered on the ground as Nicole sent a command to the lance to explode, however, she realized that she had lost the connection with it.
[Back away now!]
She kicked off the butt of the Lance and clapped her wings to push herself backwards the moment she heard Undine’s command.
Aurora then delivered a kick to Esna, sending her flying before pulling out the lance in her face. The hole created by the lance closed up instantly and Aurora’s face reformed with a frown.
"As a woman yourself, don’t you know that we don’t like it when opponents attack our faces?"
She stretched out her hands towards Nicole and the ground behind her burst open to reveal a giant hand of flames that grabbed Nicole faster than she could react.
Before Aurora could issue another command to it, she sensed someone from behind and turned her head slightly to see who it was.
"I know, that’s precisely why I’d do it."
**BANG! BANG!
She heard that voice right before two gunshots as two bullets came flying towards her two eyes. She rose her hand to catch the two bullets but a lightning-covered sword appeared out of thin air and stabbed her stomach.
"I really liked that shield you know?"
A small barrier of flames appeared right before the sword hit her and blocked it, but it did nothing to block the bolt of lightning that dropped from the sky afterwards.
Nevertheless, this was something Aurora could easily defend against as the ground cracked and a dome of earth suddenly covered her body at a speed faster than the lightning bolt.
The lightning was nullified by the earth but Aurora was still wary, the reason being she had not sensed any attacks from Layla at all.
"Now!"
Just as she thought that, she heard Layla’s voice as the hand of flames that was covering Nicole froze over. Next, the ice shattered and the shards reformed into small arrows that pierced the dome of earth around her, breaking a part of it open.
"Light Magic: Spear of Adversity!"
"Paladin’s Judgement!"
"Water Magic: Aqua Javelin!"
"Dark Magic: Death Thrust!"
Esna, Edward, Nicole, and Layla’s voices rang out respectively as their four spells manifested above Aurora’s head.
[Combination Magic: Elemental Quartet!!!!]
The four echoed simultaneously as a giant four-ringed magic circle above Aurora’s head. Their spells all dropped onto this circle as it glowed brighter for a bit.
Next, a giant multicoloured beam of dark gold light with a tint of blue was dropped down on Aurora.
[Hmm....good work.]
They heard Aurora’s voice in their heads complimenting them, a second before the attack hit.
*WHOOSH!!!

The resulting explosion was large enough to easily engulf everything within a radius of five to six thousand square kilometres, with shockwaves decimating anything in about a thousand more kilometers.
