"Jinx!" Black screamed as he grabbed Jinx's arms and pulled her along.
Roaring sound filled the air and seeped into Jinx's ears when she came back to her senses and saw the zombie soldiers approaching.
"We must hurry." She said and dragged herself away from Black's grip. She opened the back door and helped Cassy to place the chubby lady inside, then lifted her gaze toward Kai.
"Kai, come on, we've got to go now!" She said while paddling her arms in the air.
Kai shifted his gaze to Jinx and the black BMW, then back at the zombie soldiers. "Fuck! I would have wiped them out, but it's sad I have to leave."
He spat on the ground, placed the sword at his back, then dashed to the car.
Immediately he slid into the back seat, two zombies jumped and landed on the front mirror, snarling at the glass with their green teeth.
"Hold on tight!" Black whispered as he pulled the gear back and began driving in reverse without even looking at the side-view mirror for direction.
At a distance away from where the BMW was heading, Merlin and other unaffected soldiers slowed down when they saw the vehicle moving out of the Redbull barracks.
'It's good he's going.' He said low in his head, then shifted his gaze to the soldiers beside him.
"Sir, watch out!" Nally screamed when two Wingreapers dashed toward Merlin from a distance. Before her words could fade, the creatures collapsed and scrolled on the ground like a downed jet.
When Nally shifted her gaze back to Merlin, she swallowed hard when she saw Merlin's arm drenched with blood.
"Sir," she said as she moved slow steps forward.
"Don't worry, that isn't my blood." Merlin responded with a calm smile on his face, then swung his arm, dripping the blood on the ground.
"Let's get rid of these uninvited visitors." He said as he drew a large sword from his back, then shifted his gaze to the running zombie soldiers.
Without hesitation, Nally and the soldiers standing behind and beside her all lowered their guns and drew out swords. Yet those without swords held their guns like it was their last.
Merlin stood at the back and watched as Nally and the soldiers dashed toward the zombies. They killed each one that came across their lane, slicing them into countless pieces, while those holding the guns fired bullets that carved holes in the walking corpses.
"Die!" Nally screamed when she jumped into a group of strong-looking zombies. She kicked one with her boot, pierced the yellow sword in her arm onto the face of another and whirled around, sending them flying in the sky.
When some of the zombie soldiers managed to move past the unaffected soldiers, Merlin smiled.
"You've cut the wrong meat," he said in a low voice, then closed his eyes.
Just as the first broad-chested zombie reached him, Merlin vanished. The zombies turned and began exchanging glances as if they had sense.
Before they could notice, light seeped into them, creating invisible lines in their bodies. When Merlin reappeared, all thirty zombie soldiers blasted. Their body parts flew around Merlin and fell on the ground like rain.
Immediately Merlin cracked his eyes open, he dashed forward and began helping the soldiers that had been overshadowed by the zombies.
He chopped off two zombie soldiers' heads with just a single swing, sliced three into perfect halves, and sent one flying when he kicked it with his boots.
Meanwhile, at the third floor of the instructors' building, Wang clenched his fist into a ball when he saw the black BMW Kai had entered driving away.
Air evaporated from his skin when he closed his eyes while raising his clenched fist. As soon as he cracked his eyes open, he slammed the fist into the glass wall before him and shattered it completely.
The shattering sound caught the attention of both team alpha, the zombie soldiers, and the Wingreapers.
"Sir," Nally called to Merlin and pointed a finger at the instructors' building.
"Leave them, whatever happens to them was supposed to happen." Merlin said as he frowned and shifted his gaze from the shattered glass's direction and focused on Nally. "Forget about them and let's help keep everyone safe."
With Merlin leading the team, they dashed into the corners of the barracks where none of the zombie soldiers had gone.
Countless survivors, being young men who had been drenched in fear and ladies who had come to the barracks with fearless status but had now turned into fragile souls who needed saving.
"Take them to the Reinforced building and make sure they are safe." Merlin said as he neared Nally and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"What about you, sir?"
"Don't worry, I won't die under these weak creatures' hands. Just do as I have ordered." Merlin said and turned.
He looked at the crowd of zombie soldiers and the Wingreapers that were dashing toward him and those that were being scattered by the so-called strong men which Wang had grouped.
"Hurry up!" Nally screamed when she turned and also saw the creatures moving in their direction at high speed.
When the last survivor was released from under a hook, Nally turned and ran to Merlin. "I'm not going inside without you."
Before she could say another word, Merlin signaled two of the soldiers that were already heading toward the reinforced building. The soldiers changed their course, then shoved Nally onto their shoulders and ran into the building.
Merlin smiled as he waved at Nally and the soldiers when the gate was being sealed. Despite Nally's struggle, all that she could do was slam herself against the unbreakable metal door.
Outside, when the creatures neared Merlin, he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. When he cracked his eyes open, he kissed the air, then smiled.
"Come to Daddy," he said in a joyful voice, then increased his grip on the sword.
Without hesitation, he dashed forward and shoved into the crowd of zombies and blasted them around like a stone hitting a beehive.
He swung right, chopped off three zombie soldiers' heads at once, swung left and splattered five more in perfect halves. But when six others dashed toward him and he was about to swing them with the sword, a bullet flew from nowhere and slammed on the blade of the sword, shattering it.
When Merlin turned his head slowly and watched the direction the bullet had come from, he saw smoke drifting out of the gun Wang was holding.
"Wang!" He screamed the name out loud, then began killing the zombie soldiers like he himself was one of them.
He used his bare hands and tore out the hearts of all five zombie soldiers, then turned an angry face to Wang. But Wang just smiled and waved at him.
From the distance, Merlin couldn't hear what Wang was saying but was able to read his lips. "Goodbye, Lieutenant."
With his attention taken by Wang, countless zombie soldiers and the Wingreapers overshadowed Merlin and began biting and tearing his skin apart, but Merlin didn't collapse easily.
As blood rushed out of his veins, he used the little energy he had and wiped out all the creatures that had overshadowed him before collapsing on one knee.
"So it was true. Wang killed Lieutenant Gray at Bion city and came here blaming the poor kid for something he hadn't even done." Merlin said in a harsh voice, then spat a glob of blood onto the stone at his front.
A wailing sound lanced through the air as two Wingreapers dashed toward him from behind. Merlin pushed himself up and slammed his arms at their beaks, hurling them against the side of the reinforced building's gate.
The creatures growled as they tried pushing themselves up, but Merlin slammed his boots at their backs and screamed. "I said stay down!"
