Chapter 76: Chapter 76
"Once you’ve paid your respects to my mother, take Ethel to the Violet Jade Immortal Domain."
"Go to the Violet Jade Commerce Guild and acquire some Heart-Nourishing Tranquility Grass."
Soren turned to Ethel. "Take the Five-Flavored Flower, the Grand Sun Heaven-Bearing Fruit and the Regenerative Divine Wood Root you found, and refine them into a pill with the Heart-Nourishing Tranquility Grass."
"It will eradicate the curse binding your older brother."
"Really!?" Ethel’s eyes lit, beside her, Lysara drew a sharp breath.
The curse of the Ice Heaven Alluring Fox clan had run since the Immemorial Era, she had never once heard of a method to break it.
How did the Master know everything? He was practically an omniscient god.
Under the shock, something restless stirred in Lysara.
Soren was ruthless, he’d slaughtered hundreds of thousands of human cultivators who came to besiege him, overnight, without blinking.
With his own people he was attentive and careful, nothing like the cold-blooded fiend the legends painted, he valued loyalty above everything.
Every person who trusted Soren, and whom Soren trusted back, came out of it with growth and opportunities.
"Demon Emperor, Ethel doesn’t know the refining method for that pill. There’s no record of it in the Black Crow Alchemy Emperor’s memories."
"I’ll give you the formula."
"That’s wonderful!" Her last worry gone, Ethel took it from him with delight.
Soren turned back to Arnold.
"Once that’s settled, lead Ethel in laying the groundwork for the Alchemy Pavilion."
"Find ways to recruit and train a batch of trustworthy alchemists and pharmacologists."
"You will guarantee Ethel’s safety at all costs, guide her well."
"In management, leadership and external negotiations, you act as her teacher."
"Yes! This old servant will exert every fiber of his being," Arnold said.
Innocent she may have been, but Ethel was quick, she bowed deeply toward him.
"Ethel pays her respects to Teacher Arnold."
"Ho ho ho, Miss Ethel speaks too heavily, far too heavily! We both serve the Young Master, what need is there to divide ourselves with titles of teacher and disciple?"
"It is necessary!" Ethel was stubborn about it.
Arnold was grinning from ear to ear, Soren could tell the old fellow adored well-behaved girls like her.
"Young Master, what are your plans next...?"
Soren stood with hands clasped behind his back and cut a sideways glance at Lysara.
"The Moonveil Human Domain is one of the domains bordering Black Dragon Mountain, that region is strategically critical, I will not tolerate a single grain of sand in my eye there."
"I’m going to pay those humans a visit."
Lysara went stiff.
Soren had cultivated and elevated her for exactly one purpose.
To use her as a blade against the human race, she would be the one putting down whichever factions and cultivators threatened him.
The hunting of the human race was about to begin.
Soren left the clan hall with Lysara.
Orathis tactfully followed along, its massive claws thudding loudly against the ground with every step.
These past few days, it had been bored out of its mind, moreover, it could only watch helplessly as the Spirit race members swayed back and forth in front of it.
They smelled so tantalizingly fragrant, yet it couldn’t eat them.
Torture! Absolute, naked torture!
Looking at Soren’s posture, Orathis knew he was definitely going out to do something big! It could finally go out and run wild for a bit.
However, Soren poured a bucket of cold water on its hopes. "You stay in Black Dragon Mountain."
"Ah?" Orathis’s mouth instantly twisted in dismay.
"Master, why?"
Soren stood with his hands clasped behind his back, leaving no room for argument.
"Although the Heavenly Demon Alliance fears the surveillance of the four great continents and doesn’t dare act too high-profile, they still have three Demon Ancestor-level powerhouses guarding their alliance."
"This is our base of operations."
"There’s no guarantee that once they learn of Aelyra’s team failing their mission, they won’t pull some stunts at some point."
"Therefore, you stay behind."
"Ensure nothing goes wrong here."
The relationship between Orathis and Soren had successfully lit up the Absolute Loyalty tier. Thus, Soren wasn’t worried that it would betray him.
"Fine, fine, fine."
"But!" Orathis swung its huge head around and nuzzled one of Soren’s arms.
"You have to bring this little dragon along next time."
"Master surely doesn’t want to watch this little dragon die of boredom stuck in the dull territory of the Ice Heaven Alluring Fox clan, does he?"
"If this little dragon bores itself to death, Master won’t have a mount anymore~"
Bang. Aoooow~
Soren’s punch sent it screaming into the sky like a falling star until it vanished.
How dare you threaten me, I’ll hammer you flat.
Cursing under his breath, he left with Lysara, reaching the Moonveil Human Domain meant crossing the airspace first, and along the way he pulled her for what she knew.
At his current strength he could squash an Upper-Tier Human Emperor like a bug, some things still needed to be clear before he walked in.
The human race was a strange species, weaker than the demon race overall, thinner bloodlines than the Spirit race, bodies frailer than the beast race.
What they had was adaptability, humans were the least predictable of the four.
They refined the Spirit blood of the Spirit race, the beast bones of the beast race, and kept getting stronger off it.
Special physiques cropped up often, Lysara’s Extreme Yin Holy Body, the Sword God Body built for swordsmanship, and others.
The human race ran a very low floor and a very high ceiling.
Their destiny and fortune outweighed the other three races combined, so they churned out more Great Emperors than anyone.
Lysara laid it out, Grant had been the only public Upper-Tier Human Emperor in the Moonveil Human Domain.
There were two Middle-Tier Human Emperors, no fewer than five at Lower-Tier.
She was one of those five, ranked fifth, most recently advanced, and the only woman among them.
Her first outing leading cultivators into the Endless Demonic Domain to besiege Soren had ended in disaster.
Bad luck, mostly, a Lower-Tier Human Emperor at the head of hundreds of thousands, momentum enormous, against anyone but Soren the target would have been wiped out.
Whenever she thought of what Grant had confessed right before he died, a dull ache settled under her ribs.
"Grant had a son, right?"
She didn’t dare brush the question off. "Yes, one of the two Middle-Tier Human Emperors, I’ve met Neal a few times."
"We aren’t close."
"I heard he went into seclusion a long while ago."
"Now that Grant’s dead, maybe..."
"Maybe Neal will come out to hold the domain together."
Soren’s mouth curved. "Grant said that son of his took an interest in you."
"He had you lead the crusade against me to build your name as an empress and make you feel indebted, then someday marry you off to that Middle-Tier Human Emperor, that was the plan?"
"That’s what Grant said," she confirmed.
Soren rubbed his chin. "So if we run into Neal and he holds out an gesture of goodwill, you wouldn’t go soft on him?"
She stalled a second, then stated her position without hedging. "Whether Master acknowledges it or not, I belong to Master, always."
"Rank and titles mean nothing to me."
"As long as I can stay at Master’s side and offer what little I have, I’m satisfied."
"I wouldn’t dare ask for more." She paused.
"Grant treated me and every human faction as bargaining chips, chess pieces, I won’t give Neal an inch of mercy."
