Chapter 1346: Chapter 1426: Don’t Take It Seriously

On the way out of the old residence, Zheng Yaotiao was in front, Fang Yi behind.

Fang Yi felt not the slightest grievance in his heart, meeting Old Master Zheng and then being denied was something he had been mentally prepared for.

Just as when Fang Yi saw the account book left behind by the old man.

The old man had lent out a lot of money; in the account book, there were people like Zhu Xiaohai, who wielded no power or influence, and there were those like Old Master Zheng, who were powerful, had vast resources, and still headed the Zheng Family.

Getting money from Old Master Zheng was practically impossible. Wasn’t it foolish to expect people to hand over money just because you asked for it?

Back then, the old man lent three antiques to Old Master Zheng, each extremely valuable. Fang Yi didn’t know what kind of low tide the Zheng Family experienced at that time, but they must have been in deep trouble to approach Old Master Zheng for money.

But it was a bit disheartening that Zheng Family turned their backs post-recovery.

Not that it mattered; Fang Yi made a note against Old Master Zheng, planning to mark it as settled in the account book later, although he had no idea when the old man might return.

Zheng Yaotiao, leading the way, never looked back, neither hurrying nor slowing her pace.

Rushing suggested anxiety, giving him the impression that she was afraid.

Slowing down felt pretentious, thus Zheng Yaotiao maintained her usual pace.

Zheng Yaotiao carried her own pride and confidence, but suddenly felt startled by two fiery gazes from behind, making her feel uneasy.

No need to guess, Zheng Yaotiao knew it was the man behind her not being honest with his eyes.

Finally, Zheng Yaotiao abruptly stopped and turned around.

Fang Yi was so absorbed that he failed to react in time, almost bumping into her.

Despite that, they ended up very close. Zheng Yaotiao furrowed her brow and stepped back to create distance from Fang Yi.

"Do you realize how discouraging that is?" Fang Yi said. No matter how you look at it, he wasn’t ugly, yet this woman avoided him as if he were some dangerous animal.

"Is that so?" Zheng Yaotiao replied.

"Yes! I’m so handsome, can’t you tell at all?"

"Even the most handsome men won’t appeal to me," Zheng Yaotiao said coolly.

Alright, you win!

Fang Yi left it at that and said, "Okay, lead the way. I’ve got other things to do, I’m quite busy."

But Zheng Yaotiao remained unmoving, narrowing her eyes at him as if trying to see right through him.

"Is your name really Fang Xiaotian?" Zheng Yaotiao suddenly asked.

"As real as it gets," Fang Yi replied.

"What did you mean earlier about lending antiques to a friend?"

"Just saying casually, don’t take it seriously!"

Yet, the more you act like that, the more it seems you really mean it!

Still, Zheng Yaotiao remained silent, turned around, and led Fang Yi out of the old residence.

Afterward, Fang Yi said nothing, leaving directly, while Zheng Yaotiao stood at the door, watching his departure, a contemplative expression on her face.

Then suddenly, her phone rang; the caller ID showed it was a particularly close female friend.

Zheng Yaotiao answered the call.

"Oh my, Yaotiao, did you hear? That little mad one from our house got beaten up!" As soon as the call connected, an excited voice burst out, giving Zheng Yaotiao no chance to speak.
