The moment the war cries from both sides rang through the fog-laden forest, chaos descended.
The beings of the Godless and Godly Realms were engaged in a never ending conflict. The history behind this conflict was blurry due to the passage of time.
But one thing was for sure;
If the Godly Realms produces creatures that would like to ascend into the heavens to become Gods, the beings of the Godless Realm desired to create their own realm of Gods.
Not only were they against the current Celestial government, they were also extremely hostile towards the followers of any of the Celestial Deities and Beasts.
The Godless Realms were considered the badlands of the universe. Most beings that were not of it, and desired to enter for one reason the other would wish they hadn’t.
The grotesque creatures that roamed this place, as well as the infamous Demons native to the Godless realm were all quite terrifying, some possessing the ability to inflict madness with just a glimpse of their appearance.
Cain surged forward as well. It was almost as though there was a force pushing him against his will, the tide of bodies and mad intent pulling him forward.
His body reacted on instinct as the first clash of bone and flesh echoed in the air.
The chaos had begun.
Asteron’s massive form carved through the frontlines, his claws rending through carapace, flesh and bone like paper. Avalon let out a loud piercing caw as he soared above, his enormous wings cutting through the air as he dodged incoming projectiles, while Thern charged forward, her giant frame slamming into the enemy like a living battering ram, a wide grin on her face.
The beings of the Godless Realm met them head-on with bloodthirsty glee, their malformed bodies moving with unnatural speed and precision.
Beasts with too many eyes or thousands of spikes jutting out of their bodies, creatures with limbs that bent in impossible angles, and humanoids with black skin and horns whose flesh rippled as if something lived beneath their skin—all of them lunged forward, howling in eerie, guttural tones.
Cain barely had time to react as a hulking beast barreled toward him, its elongated arms tipped with jagged claws. He twisted his body, dodging a wild swipe, and swung his sword into its side.
Instead of just flesh, his blade met something wrong, like striking wet, rotting wood. The creature screeched, a horrid sound like grinding stone and gnashing teeth, before it lashed out with the claws of its other arm.
Cain ducked skillfully, rolling beneath the swing and slashing its throat as he rose to his feet.
Black ichor splattered onto his armor.
The creature’s body convulsed as it fell towards the ground.
His face scrunched up. A ball of flames appeared in his hands as he dropped it on the struggling thing. The flames spread quickly, covering its body in the blink of an eye and burning it to death.
His eyes flicked to Evangeline, who moved like a shadow in the midst of the battle, her magic coiling around her like living tendrils.
It was nearly impossible to see the slash of her blade. Instead, the bodies she passed by fell to the ground, wounds at their vitals, but not a drop of blood leaking out.
To his other side was Roselle, her blade clashed against the bone saw of a terrifying creature with a huge frame and obsidian like skin.
Borrowing the force of the creature’s blown she pivoted on her heel, turning her body with grace, and with a slash that drew a hot white line in its path, cut its head clean off.
Her momentum didn’t stop. Instead, she increased her speed, moving in to the next.
On the side of the Godless Realm, a strange looking creature reared its head. It has a set of four horns jutting out of its head. It had the face of a goat with sharp fangs jutting out of its maw. It wore a garp of darkness that rippled like the fog around. Cain could see its mouth moving as it summoned a creeping darkness, so deep and devoid of light, it looked like a piece of hell. It devoured the nearby creatures of the Godly Realm, turning them into darkness infused corpses faster than they could react.
There were many beings like this in both sides, with insidious abilities that killed their does before they could realize they were dead. Powerful abilities that he was certain could do him in as well.
Not wishing to subject himself to a brutal death, Cain dismissed the {Lonely Dragon} Warblade and made himself as inconspicuous as possible. The elements around him churned, and two short swords made entirely of metal appeared in his hands.
He quickly threw himself into the slaughter as well.
Susan stood far behind, summoning the Light Guardian to guard here whilst using swift, precise magic to support and heal those who were unfortunately fortunate enough to survive whatever terror-inducing ability was used on their bodies.
Her brows furrowed. Trying to heal a creature with half its body already succumbing to rot was not very easy.
Jenny swiftly reloaded her gun before rolling behind a tree, narrowing another life seeking arrow.
In one swift movement, she reared her head from behind the tree, and without taking aim, she fired.

The sound of the bullet exiting the muzzle was dampened by the thunderous sounds of bodies colliding against the ground.
The bullet wheezed through the air, accurately reaching the head of the dark archer hidden in the enemy rear lines.
The bullet tore through her target’s head, scattering it on the dark wood of the tree behind it.
She exhaled deeply then began moving. Mana surrounded her as she went into camouflage state just before the tree behind her was torn apart by a showering of dark arrows.
Suddenly, a blood-curdling shriek tore through the battlefield.
Cain’s head snapped toward the source.
Midread was backing away from a grotesque figure. The Gnat’s usually horrifying look was filled with pure terror. The thing before him was an abomination. Cain felt his heart nearly stop with just a glance at the thing. A cold sweat formed on his brows and his hands turned shaky.
One or the blades in his hands was knocked away by his opponent, a smaller, impish creature with deadly speed and accuracy with its small knife like weapons.
Cain frowned. A few seconds later, he stabbed his sword into its chest and turned back to observe the battle between the Gnat and the abomination.
The abomination’s body was like the enormous, warped corpse of... something. It looked alive, but not it a good way. Its limbs were grotesquely elongated, its ribcage split open like a blooming flower, revealing a mass of writhing, crimson tendrils.
Cain gritted his teeth, trying to hold back the terror. Another impish creature lunged at him but he cut it down with one stroke.
Midread was powerful, but he didn’t seem to be faring well against the abomination.
’Should I help?’ Cain thought to himself.
Before he could make up his mind, the abomination shot forward with inhuman speed, its twisted fingers stretching unnaturally long as it latched onto Midread’s throat.
The Gnat let out a choked gasp, his multiple eyes bulging as the creature lifted him off the ground.
The creature opened its abyssal maw, its jaw unhinging wider than physically possible. Then, with a sickening crunch, it bit through Midread’s skull in one clean motion.
Cain felt his stomach drop.
While the Gnat had not been the most powerful of warriors, it could still be considered rather strong. Its large frame, despite being skinny, held a tremendous amount of power. It was also swift and agile. Its magic spells were cruel and terrible, Making Cain believe it would have survived.
But it didn’t. It head was just bitten open. Blood and grey matter flowed down Midread’s open skull as the abomination sucked out all that was left of his brain before dropping the corpse of the Gnat to the ground.
The abomination let out a rattling exhale, its body convulsing.
And then its piercing moldy green eyes darted around. Then it fell on him.
Cain’s eyes widened as he cursed furiously in his mind.
The back of the abomination split open, revealing more tendrils, now laced with bone-like spikes. Its flesh pulsed as if something within was trying to escape. It let out a grotesque, garbled laugh—an unholy mix of a dozen overlapping voices.
Then, it lunged at him.
The thick scent of rotting, decayed flesh filled his nose before the creature even got close.
He cursed under his breath again before resummoning his Warblade.
The moment it lunged off the ground, out of nowhere...
BANG!
Asteron, rushed in and smashed his own rather enormous, not as terrifying body into that of the abomination.
His eyes dripped with white hot fury as he roared,
"Die! You wretched thing!"
The claws of the Wind Drake ripped through the torso of the abomination. A torrent of energy gathered around Asteron. Hundreds of wind blades tore into the body of the abominable thing, but instead of dying, the creature wrapped its tendrils around his arm, anchoring itself to him.
Avalon dove in from the sky, his talons gleaming as he slashed at its spine.
With unnatural flexibility, the creature bent backward at an impossible angle, avoiding the attack.
Cain let out a sigh. Then he dashed forward, picking up speed before jumping into the air.
’Hell Step.’
The air beneath his feet combusted, allowing him to soar even higher again and again, till it looked like he was running through the air.
His eyes gleamed as he activated the {Demon Dragon} state of the Warblade. Continue reading at Freewebnovel
Before the sword finished its metamorphosis, he had already smashed it into the abomination’s head.
