Chapter 953: Chapter 475: Desperate Situation (Part 2)
"Wong ..."
A sound of ethereal, high-pitched roar suddenly echoed from somewhere unknown in the air.
The elaborate tattoos adorning Alton’s bare torso began to move suddenly under the nurturing of the red glow on his skin, making the waves and sea beasts seem to come alive in that instant.
If one could see the microscopic perspective inside this barbarian at this moment, it would become apparent that as the roar rang out, the fragile organs inside his chest cavity were also enveloped in a dense layer of red light.
This provided a final layer of protection for the organs that were supposed to be crushed under the fist of the Shark Beast, even after the skin, muscles, and bones were broken through one after another.
The next second...
"Boom!!!"
Alton’s robust body flew backward like a cannonball, the overwhelming force from the Shark Beast’s iron fist causing his body to form a "bow" shape as it soared through the air, head and feet outward, waist and abdomen inward.
"Pfft!"
His mouth, unable to withstand the intense pain, burst open, spewing forth scarlet blood.
Upon landing, his body rolled over the ground a dozen times before finally crashing into a fragment of exotic realm architecture, coming to a halt.
His chest caved in, spraying out two more mouthfuls of blood uncontrollably.
One could see Alton’s arm scraping against the ground, attempting to support his body to stand up again.
But even though the power from the path of the "Unyielding Strong Soul" left him with a thread of life, this heavy blow meant it was impossible for him to get up and fight again in the short term.
After struggling for a brief moment, he flipped his eyes and completely passed out.
"Damn it!"
The sound of Captain Lorin’s curse reached the ear.
Xia Nan gently landed on the ground under the effect of "Tidal Shaping," while loosening his arm to set down the Half Orc Alton.
With pitch-black eyes staring at the colossal creature ahead, his face displayed no expression, yet his heart grew increasingly heavy.
Clearly, the Shark Beast under attack from everyone had entered some sort of second stage of power enhancement, becoming more strenuous to handle.
The ground in the canyon looked as if it had just experienced an earthquake, covered with dense cracks, and the already moist soil was further soaked by the exotic water surge from below, turning into a mire filled with puddles of varying sizes.
The Shark Beast stood at the center of the area.
Compared to before, the previously hard-to-heal wounds on its body surface caused by the burning effect of the "Scale Fire Saber" were now covered by a semi-transparent fluid akin to slime, within which intertwining granulation could be faintly seen.
The already massive body expanded several more circles, seemingly reaching over four meters tall.
It might not sound much taller when put in words, but when such a muscle-bound monster over a story high stands before you, drenched in blood and gazing with its dark, lifeless shark eyes, the suffocating oppression accompanying it is unprecedented.
It’s only due to Xia Nan’s strong will, coupled with the extensive experience acquired post-transmigration, that he could stand firm amidst such imposing scenes.
Otherwise, other low level adventurers who had been in the field for less than two years would surely struggle to maintain their stance against an adversary of this magnitude.
"Watch out!"
Again, Lorin’s warning voice came from the side.
The Shark Beast, already in a frenzied state, naturally wouldn’t allow any room for breath for those present.
Practically at the breath’s interval after Xia Nan landed post the water surge, the Shark Beast standing in place vanished from sight.
Replaced by the dense sound of compressed air from high-speed object movement, and a terrible shadow of black and red rocketing forth.
Thanks to Xia Nan’s agility ability second only to his perception attribute, he possessed considerable reaction speed, with the dark, high-pitched howl of the Winter Wolf resonating ahead of Captain Lorin’s warning.
The dispersing energy transformed into swaying manes, with the Black Wolf’s phantom wrapped in the mud and water on the ground, suddenly darting away, adeptly evading the opponent’s impact.
"Sizzle!"
Sparks exploded.
The scimitar enveloped in orange-red flames cut through the air with a fierce arc, leaving a charred wound on the Shark Beast’s spine;
A nimble furry figure weaved gracefully to the side, the Short Sword stabbing repeatedly; the small figure of the Half Orc appeared not far away, with ringing musical notes resounding once more at the field’s edge; the Short-tailed Albatross, previously circling high in the sky, seized the opportunity to fly toward the fallen barbarian, its bird claws holding a loosely corked Healing Potion, precisely hurling it onto his body.
All were seasoned adventurers; the sudden reduction in personnel did not waver their spirit. Despite worrying for their comrade’s safety, they maintained their focus and concentrated on the battle.
Nonetheless, it was undeniable that after Alton’s grievous exit, the situation on the field had shifted.
From a six-to-one battle where victory slowly tilted towards the adventurers, the scales of victory once again returned to balance, even hinting at tipping towards the other side.
Their strategy earlier involved attacking from all sides, continuously pulling on the Demon’s attention, preventing it from focusing its attack on a specific target.
For instance, if the Shark Beast got infuriated by Alton leaving a wound on its legs, intending to crush the pesky little mouse with its fists, it would have to abandon its attack as the sharp Wolf Teeth, accompanied by dark energetic currents, were already descending toward the back of its head.
At this juncture, Lorin’s scimitar might sear through its waist and abdomen twice from the side, seizing the moment.
