Chapter 425: The Newcomer. (Message Chair Bonus Chapter)

Thoren monitored the battle with the same calm expression. Not even the continuous explosions or miserable screams caused the slightest ripple in his eyes.

His silver hair fluttered gently under the desert wind and his gaze calmly swept across every section of the battlefield.

He watched as the undead Sanguine Vultures tore through the archer legion with ease. Every descent of the undead vulture left dozens of corpses behind.

The archers desperately fired volley after volley into the sky. Unfortunately, none of their arrows achieved anything meaningful.

This did not come as a surprise to him.

Everything was unfolding exactly as he had expected.

With the undead Sanguine Vultures’ wings laced with deadly Bronze Grade daggers, how could mere ordinary arrows stop them?

Even if the arrows managed to strike them, their undead bodies barely reacted.

Watching such a scene, Thoren remained completely indifferent. He watched the Scorpion General’s expression and sneered.

For this war, he had set up various plans, ready for any change in the battle. He had spent considerable time preparing every stage.

Every undead troop had its own purpose. Every battlefield movement had already been anticipated.

Nothing was left to chance.

This was why he was revealing the might of his army step by step.

Slowly.

Methodically.

Like tightening a noose around its prey.

He did not want to scare the General, forcing him to retreat. Instead, he wanted to give him false hope, toying with him in the palm of his hand.

Every time the General believed he had gained the upper hand, a stronger undead force would appear.

Hope.

Despair.

Hope again.

Only to be crushed once more.

That was the battle Thoren intended to create. When the Scorpion General found out he had lost too much, he wouldn’t be able to call for retreat.

Retreating after losing so many men would put his life in danger before their King.

As the General of the mighty Scorpion Clan, failure itself was already a grave crime. Thus, he either died trying or won against his undead army.

But was that even possible?

Shaking his head, he saw the General deploying his elite legion, and a slow predatory smile crept onto his face.

This was what he had been waiting for.

The General’s strongest force.

The final pillar supporting the Scorpion Army’s confidence.

Without hesitation, he released the undead Kharv to welcome them. Everything proceeded exactly according to his expectations.

The elite legion confidently charged forward and the undead Kharv welcomed them with its mighty Axe.

A collision destined to end in slaughter.

A few minutes later, just as he had planned, the Level 38 undead Kharv was slaughtering the General’s elite legion.

Every passing second reduced the elite legion further.

This was merely the first phase. The second was to dispatch the undead Guild Captain and the undead Royalty Stonewall for the kill.

With the undead Guild Captain and the undead Royalty Stonewall entering the battleground, they easily found their targets and struck.

In less than one minute, one of the Commanders had his head severed from his neck. His lifeless body collapsed heavily onto the crimson desert.

Watching the Scorpion Commander’s death, Thoren merely looked at him for a moment before he shifted his gaze to the General.

There was neither joy nor excitement on his face.

Only calm observation.

He quietly watched every subtle movement the General made. He watched as the General boiled with rage, the wind howling around him.

The surrounding desert sand continuously swirled beneath the terrifying pressure emanating from his body.

His grip around his massive saber tightened until veins bulged across his arm. Even from such a distance, Thoren could clearly sense the General’s murderous intent.

’Join the battle.’

’Join the battle.’

He grinned evilly as he couldn’t wait for the General to step onto the battleground.

His smile slowly widened.

Everything had been prepared. All of them existed for one purpose.

The General.

That would bring everything to an end.

Once the strongest Scorpion Man entered the battlefield, Thoren would no longer have any reason to hold back.

The final phase of the war would begin.

However, looking at how the General was still able to control his emotions, Thoren was somewhat disappointed but did not think too much about it.

He had underestimated the General’s patience.

Most leaders would have long since charged into battle after witnessing such losses. Yet this one still endured and that alone made Thoren evaluate him slightly higher.

As he prepared to hunt down the second Scorpion Commander, his thoughts remained simple. If one was not enough to force the General to join the battle, two would be enough.

And if two were not enough, surely three would be enough.

No General could calmly watch all his trusted subordinates die one after another.

Suddenly, a deep frown appeared on his face. His gaze shifted from the raging battleground and stared toward the west.

His smile gradually disappeared.

Even though Thoren focused his attention on the battlefield, he did not forget to keep an eye on his surroundings.

His undead Echo Scarabs had never stopped scouting. They silently hovered far beyond the battlefield.

Monitoring every possible direction. Such a wide-area battle was bound to catch someone’s or some beast’s attention.

That was his thought.

The violent explosions were impossible to conceal. But as the battle dragged on, he never saw either beasts or humans.

The surrounding desert remained strangely empty. Not even ordinary desert beasts approached. To him, the beasts and humans might have been scared away by the raging sounds of the war.

Thus, he gradually lowered his concentration on the surroundings while watching the battle. His primary focus shifted back toward the General and the three battlefields.

But now...

His undead Echo Scarabs had detected movement from the west. The signal arrived through their mental connection almost instantly.

Thoren’s expression immediately became serious.

’I guess I was wrong.’

He clicked his tongue and commanded an undead Sanguine Vulture to provide better surveillance.

The undead vulture immediately responded. Its wings spread wide. And without hesitation, it shot toward the western horizon.

Cutting through the air, the undead Sanguine Vulture sliced through the desert wind at breathtaking speed.

The surrounding air exploded behind it.

Within moments, it had already crossed an astonishing distance. Ten seconds later, it arrived at the specified location.

The undead vulture circled high above the dunes.

"Bone Mirror."

Thoren wasted no time and activated the skill. Instantly, the view around him shifted.

The raging battlefield disappeared from his vision.

His consciousness merged with the undead Sanguine Vulture as he watched through the bird’s perspective.

Through the undead Vulture, he saw the newcomer.
