“I’m not about to charge over like that.”
Mia looked at Alice with a somewhat strange expression.
“It’s not dead yet. We’d better get out of here as soon as possible.”
Alice skirted around the headless corpse and left the Observatory. The others didn’t approach the body either.
“Can’t we just take it out directly?”
As she passed the corpse, Mia poured a bottle of black potion onto it.
“That would not only waste time and energy but might also draw the attention of the Master of this place.”
That was why Alice hadn’t dealt with it directly.
“Time to go.”
The Observatory platform was connected to four pathways, and the platforms those pathways led to were all above. Lin Ye looked at Little Guardian, who pointed to the middle pathway and said, “This one is safer.”
The four of them crossed the pathway and stepped onto the next platform. In the center of the platform sat a very luxurious-looking black high-backed chair, but there was nothing sitting on it.
“Should we take it with us?”
Mia felt this chair was very likely a relic.
“You can try sitting on it. If nothing happens, we’ll take it.”
Unlike with the Observatory, Lin Ye had no desire to get close to something that looked so ominous. Just looking at the patterns on it gave him an uncomfortable feeling.
“Better not.”
Little Guardian stared at the chair before her and took a slight step back.
“Can you create an illusion to test it out?”
Mia looked at Alice and asked.
“No need to use an illusion. We have a better test subject.”
Alice walked to the side of the chair, and the smiling old man had already climbed onto the platform.
“Oh, that is a good test subject.”
Mia looked at the old man. Suddenly, his movements became very stiff, and the smile froze on his face.
Under Mia’s control, the old man walked step by step to the front of the high-backed chair, then turned around and sat down.
The moment he sat in the chair, Mia released her control over him and quickly moved away from it.
The old man did not leave the high-backed chair. He wiped the smile off his face, then turned his head to look around.
Only after his head had rotated a full three hundred and sixty degrees did he stop turning. He then spoke: “Who are you people? Where is this place? What time is it now?”
“I knew this thing wasn’t good news. Good thing we let the old man test it out.”
Lin Ye turned his head to look at the surrounding platforms. He no longer had any intention of taking the chair with them. Who knew what kind of freaky stuff was hiding inside it?
“So that’s the type of relic it is. The spiritual imprint stored inside might have some value, but there are way too many relics like this. They’re a pain to deal with, and they can’t even be sold for anything.”
Mia sighed. She had been hoping to grab a few high-value items to recoup their losses, but it turned out to be this kind of junk.
“One mid-level spiritual energy user and three mental creatures. Don’t you think you’re underestimating me a bit too much?”
The old man in the chair wasn’t angry. He just found these insignificant ants a bit noisy.
“Looks like it still hasn’t figured out the situation, buddy. You’d better deal with the problem with that body first before you come looking for trouble with us.”
Lin Ye didn’t think the old man would be easily taken care of by the high-backed chair. They were probably at the same level.
“Hm? This body... damn it, where the hell did you find something like this? Weren’t they supposed to be extinct already?”
The old man let out a shrill voice, all trace of his previous calm completely gone.
“Don’t blame us. You and this old guy are both collectibles in this place. If we hadn’t given you a hand, you probably wouldn’t have gotten out either.”
Lin Ye didn’t think anyone else would enter a place like this.
“Helped me?! I would rather have stayed asleep in there forever!”
The old man’s voice grew even more piercing, but after only two seconds, he stopped screaming, a dazed look spreading across his face.
“This is a chair you can use to make wishes. But the person making the wish gets trapped inside the chair. I can control this person to make a wish. Do you want to make one?”
Little Guardian suddenly spoke up.
“Hasn’t it already made a wish?”
Otherwise, the thing inside wouldn’t have been trapped in the chair.
“It’s out now, so it can make another wish.”
Little Guardian replied.
“Should we wish to get out of here?”
Mia immediately thought of a suitable wish.
“No, that wish is too abstract. What if this thing teleports us to the deepest part of the Abyss? Maybe we can wish to return to the shallow layers of the mental world... If I go back now, I can still do some fishing.”
Even though he said that, Lin Ye didn’t actually think the chair could send them back. Its function was already full of malice. The so-called wishes weren’t worth hoping for at all.
“...If you make that wish, we might encounter a danger we can’t resist.”
Little Guardian looked at the chair. As Lin Ye’s mental defense system, if he was about to face an obvious crisis, she could detect a sign of it in advance.
“Maybe we could wish to move to the platform where the Exit is. The danger of getting out directly might have something to do with the Master of this place.”
Alice made a suggestion.
“...That should be fine, but I can’t be completely sure.”
After a short pause, Little Guardian finally spoke.
“The wish won’t affect us, right?”
Lin Ye stared at the high-backed chair. He had a feeling this thing was extremely unreliable. Items that could grant wishes were generally riddled with problems.
No one would help people realize their wishes for free forever. It could only keep existing by gaining enough benefits from those wishes.
“No.”
Little Guardian answered with certainty.
“Then make the wish. We should be heading back too.”
Lin Ye wasn’t sure if that Exit could get them out, but it was still better than wandering around here.
“Alright.”
Little Guardian controlled the old man to make the wish. The high-backed chair emitted a dazzling pure white light. When the light faded, they had been moved to a platform that was only a few square meters in size.
In the center of the platform stood a white door.

Mia turned to look behind them. There, a white platform spanning thousands of square meters was piled high with items of immense value.
Dreamstones, relics, Rule Fragments, bookshelves lined with all kinds of colorful books, containers storing various organs...
In the center of those items stood an elevator reaching toward the sky. They couldn’t even see where it led.

Between the platform the door was on and that other platform, there was only a one-centimeter-wide pathway. And at the midpoint of that pathway, there was a ten-meter-long gap.
