“That’s right, since they built such a massive maze, they must be hiding something extremely important. By the way, just entering this place cost us a whole Dreamstone.”
Mia observed the maze walls carefully. She hadn’t expected to enter such a large Storage Point either.
“So, do we find the maze’s exit? Or search for valuable items inside the maze?”
Lin Ye was also studying the maze’s layout. The nearby walls showed no changes, but since they stood on top of the walls, they could move in a straight line directly, without needing to find the exit at all.
But would it really be that simple?
Lin Ye didn’t believe the Master of this place would create a completely pointless maze.
“I have no idea either. This is my first time in such a huge Storage Point. Maintaining something this big takes a ton of resources. An ordinary person couldn’t handle it at all.”
Mia felt sure there had to be something good hidden here.
“Something seems off down there. You’d better not jump down.”
Alice suddenly spoke up.
“Then let’s pick a direction and walk a bit first. Though I feel like if we don’t enter the maze, we won’t find anything valuable.”
Lin Ye randomly chose a direction and then moved quickly along the top of the walls. Mia and Alice didn’t object; they had no better ideas for now.
Half an hour later, Lin Ye suddenly stopped. Ahead of them stretched an endless gray maze, the surrounding scenery completely unchanged.
“Did you find something?”
Mia had already given up looking for clues. She was considering whether to forcefully break out of this Storage Point.
If she weren’t so reluctant to waste the Dreamstone they’d already used, she would have acted long ago.
“Can’t you just destroy this place? It should be more stable than the last Storage Point, right?”
If Mia could destroy it, Lin Ye wouldn’t have to search for the maze’s exit.
“If I act, I’ll attract the Master of this place. So it’s better to find the exit first before making a move. Of course, if you don’t mind the Dreamstone consumption, we could just leave this Storage Point directly.”
Mia stretched her body slightly, already prepared to retreat.
“No way. I don’t like taking losses.”
Lin Ye stared at the ground, silently counting time.
“What are you looking at?”
Mia also looked at the ground but didn’t see anything particularly special.
“This requires a bit of prediction. You two jump down with me when I say. If you jump too late, it’ll be trouble.”
With that, Lin Ye jumped into the maze.
Mia and Alice jumped down with him. They didn’t land on the ground but kept falling downward, passing through layers of floors. After more than ten seconds, they finally landed inside the maze.
“What were those things just now? Where is this?”
Mia looked curiously at the sealed maze ceiling above. She had passed through several layers of floors that had rushed toward them, with the last one nearly smashing into her head.
“This is a constantly rotating spherical maze space. We just passed through several of its outer maze layers. This is the deep interior of the maze.”
Lin Ye didn’t move recklessly. If he used a tomb as an analogy, this was already outside the main burial chamber. One more layer down and they’d hit the coffin, so it could be very dangerous.
As a non-combatant, someone else was better suited for scouting than Lin Ye.
“This maze is constantly rotating? How come I can’t feel it?”
Mia focused her senses carefully, but she still couldn’t detect anything moving around them.
“I’m not sure if this layer is rotating either. Rotation is relative. If nothing around you is moving, you’d be in a state of relative stillness.”
Lin Ye wasn’t certain if there were any mental influences at play either. He had only formed a preliminary understanding of how this ‘infinite maze’ operated.
“So, the exit and the goods are all below?”
Mia decided to stop bothering with troublesome questions and focus on what really mattered.
“That’s right, but it’s best not to act directly. We might be in a state of relative stillness. If we break that state, we could get flung out.”
If the Master of this place wasn’t an idiot, destroying the maze structure would be extremely dangerous.
“Then I’ll scout ahead. You find the exit as fast as you can. We’ve been here too long.”
Mia chose a random direction and moved forward. Lin Ye and Alice followed behind her.
They had only walked a short distance when Lin Ye stopped.
“We’re moving upward. If we keep going this way, we’ll end up on the layer above.”
“We can go back? How come I didn’t feel us going uphill?”
Mia lay down on the ground and rolled a few times. To her, it felt perfectly flat.
“Don’t bother. To you, this is a flat plane. We haven’t walked up any slope either. But that’s just relative. All I can say is, we’re moving away from the destination.”
By changing gravity and the concept of a flat surface, anywhere could become level ground.
Lin Ye turned around and walked in the opposite direction, taking the lead. After changing direction several times, he stopped beside a large door fixed into the ground. Hanging on the door was a lock that looked incredibly complex.
“Can we act now?”
Mia asked impatiently.
“Sixteen-digit password… I feel like it’s related to the maze’s logic, but I can’t be bothered to think about it. Just break it directly. But be ready to retreat.”
Lin Ye had no desire to figure out a sixteen-digit password related to such a complicated maze. Besides, he couldn’t rule out that the owner had set up this lock just to waste intruders’ time.
“I’ve been ready for ages!”
Mia yanked the lock off with force. Suddenly, the maze began to shake violently. The ground tilted, and the surrounding walls rushed past them like a moving train.
Inside the large door was a vast spherical space. At its center, a silver metal sphere with an extremely complex structure rotated continuously.
Beneath the sphere lay a withered, dried-up corpse.
Mia jumped directly into the spherical space and tried to grab the metal sphere, but the spinning sphere sent her flying back.
Lin Ye and Alice approached the dried corpse and found a white card and a silver metal ring on its body.
Mia, unwilling to give up, approached the sphere again. But at that moment, the dried corpse suddenly opened its eyes.
“Time to go.”
Facing this reviving corpse, Lin Ye felt an extremely ominous sensation.
The pupil-less eyes were fixed on Lin Ye, cracks appearing on their surface.
A somewhat illusory Lin Ye appeared in front of him, taking the corpse’s gaze in his place.
Mia glanced at the corpse, then grabbed Lin Ye and Alice, pulling them into a passageway and leaving this Storage Point.
