“This thing might be what brought us here. I’m going out to take a look. You all be careful. If I die, you find a way to escape. There might be a path to survival beneath the dam.”
Lin Ye grabbed two kitchen knives and climbed out the window. This was the Dream World. If the opponent had chosen this place as a battlefield, they must be confident in finishing him off here.
And since this was their prepared ground, it was essentially their home turf. Lin Ye had no idea how he could defeat them here.
It had been a long time since he had faced such a hopeless situation. All he had now was an ordinary human body and the skills an ordinary person could use.
Of course, Lin Ye wasn’t completely out of cards. He still had the Fear energy he had collected using his Special Ability.
But this power was extremely weak—barely enough for a single bullet’s worth of force. It was better than nothing, but barely.
“No, we’re all going out this time. Do you want to just watch Doctor Lin get killed by that monster outside?!”
Maybe because he had picked up on the meaning in Lin Ye’s words, Jeffrey, standing behind him, suddenly shouted loudly.
“No, we’ll fight that monster to the death!”
“That’s right, what’s one monster? Let’s all go together!”
“Damn that mist! Damn that monster! Let’s take it on!”
“Yeah, let’s fight. We can’t let Doctor Lin take all the risks every time!”
Jeffrey followed Lin Ye out the window. The prison guards and the other survivors climbed out after them, grabbing knives and iron tools they had found in the kitchen, surrounding the Dreamrealm creature.
“What the hell is this place? What’s going on with your dream?!”
Seeing Lin Ye, the Dreamrealm creature suddenly shouted in accusation.
“Damn monster, you’re the one who dragged us here, aren’t you? Did you cause the mist too?”
Lin Ye could understand what the Dreamrealm creature was saying, but he wasn’t going to answer its questions. The survivors were standing right behind him—how could he start a conversation with a monster?
‘So this wasn’t a trap the enemy set at the entrance? And the enemy doesn’t know where this is either? Then what the hell is this strange dream all about?’
Lin Ye lunged forward, stabbing the kitchen knife into the Dreamrealm creature’s body. He could feel fear emanating from it.
“Damn it! What the hell is this place?! Why can’t I use any power?!”
The Dreamrealm creature flapped its wings in fury, rising into the air. But its wings couldn’t carry it very high, only about two meters off the ground.
The survivors swarmed in, attacking the creature with every weapon they had. The smarter ones aimed for its wings, trying to cripple its flight.
Lin Ye also changed his target. He had initially aimed for a vital spot, but the kitchen knife was too short, and the creature’s body didn’t have any obvious weak points.
“Damned ants! Even without my abilities, you can’t kill me!”
The Dreamrealm creature began flying backward, spewing spikes in all directions, most of them aimed at Lin Ye.
“It’s scared! If we kill it, we can go back!”
Lin Ye didn’t retreat. Instead, he charged forward through the rain of spikes, using the kitchen knife to deflect them in small, precise movements. When he couldn’t dodge, he used Fear energy to forcibly cancel out the spike’s momentum.
The Fear energy was soon depleted. But as he closed the distance, the Dreamrealm creature kept supplying him with more.
The survivors charged at the monster as well. The prison guards and Jeffrey suddenly burst out from the side of the dam, hacking off the two most prominent wings.
And they cut off the wings on the same side.
The Dreamrealm creature lost its balance. It didn’t seem accustomed to flying with its wings, and it crashed down onto the stone slab.
“You’re scared? Tell me, do monsters like you feel fear too?”
Lin Ye jumped onto the creature’s body. It had already fired most of its spikes, leaving it unable to keep Lin Ye away.
“Damn it! You asked for this!”
The Dreamrealm creature’s body began to shift shape. But just then, Lin Ye plunged both kitchen knives into its body.
Lin Ye’s hands moved rapidly, the knives sliding along the creature’s transforming tissue. In moments, he had dismembered it into three parts.
The knives didn’t pause. Lin Ye kept cutting, breaking the Dreamrealm creature down into smaller and smaller pieces. His movements were incredibly practiced—like a butcher breaking down a pig into various cuts.
The survivors didn’t stay idle either. First, they cut off the creature’s wings and spikes. Then they joined Lin Ye, hacking the flesh into mince.
The chunks of meat kept writhing, still retaining some biological activity.
“You… bunch of… ants… I am… immortal!”
Some relatively intact chunks of meat suddenly shot into the sky, recombining.
Lin Ye threw a kitchen knife at the mass of meat in midair. The knife carried Fear energy and pierced straight through it.
The other survivors hurled their weapons too. Soon, the meat mass was knocked back onto the stone slab.
Lin Ye threw his other kitchen knife with all his strength. It shot out like a bullet, pinning the meat mass to the slab.
This time, the meat stopped moving. It seemed truly dead.
“That monster is finally dead. Should we go check it out?”
Jeffrey panted heavily, staring nervously at the meat mass.
“Get some bags. Put the chunks into different bags and toss them beneath the dam. Don’t dump them all in one spot—throw some on both sides, spaced out. And wear latex gloves. I should have brought quite a few back.”
Lin Ye had a feeling this thing wasn’t going to die that easily.
After all, it had said so itself—it was immortal.
The survivors quickly tossed the still-wriggling meat chunks beneath the dam. The disposal went smoothly. The chunks seemed to need some time to recover.
“This should kill it, right?”
“Even if it doesn’t die, it probably can’t climb back up.”
“But how are we supposed to get back? Killing the monster didn’t seem to do anything.”
“Wait, isn’t the kitchen about to disappear?!”
“Holy shit! Hurry back! The kitchen is vanishing!”
Hearing the warning, the survivors rushed back to the kitchen in a hurry, forming a line to climb through the window. None of them wanted to be left alone in a place like this.
Lin Ye climbed back too. His claim that killing the Dreamrealm creature would let them return was a complete lie. The creature didn’t seem connected to this dream world at all.
‘Could it be because we threw the meat beneath the dam? Is that the real way to leave here? But where will we be sent? Will it take us back?’
Lin Ye had the survivors seal the window shut with metal tables. The teleportation process might come with some abnormalities. It was best if they didn’t look around.
