Chapter 92: Chapter 91: Powerful Exoskeleton

CLANG! A dull metallic impact rang out.

Bena felt an immense force transmit through his iron shield. He immediately angled it, deflecting most of the power from Ye Yun’s punch.

Even so, he was involuntarily forced back several steps before he managed to regain his footing.

Ye Yun hadn’t actually put much force into the punch; he just wanted to test the exoskeleton’s combat effectiveness.

However, it was obvious from that one light punch that there was no need for further testing.

Looking at the stat panels alone, Bena’s attributes completely crushed his.

But after donning the exoskeleton, the scales of power had instantly tipped in the opposite direction.

Staring at the exoskeleton on his body, a thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

’Could I leave the shelter and go for a walk outside, too?’

Ye Yun shook his head, suppressing the somewhat crazy idea.

The exoskeleton wasn’t reliable enough. While it certainly made him much stronger than Bena, there were plenty of people in the Wasteland stronger than Bena.

Not to mention, if a slightly stronger mutant creature showed up, it could probably take him down instantly.

Ye Yun decided it was better not to rush out and gallivant around. It wouldn’t be too late to check things out once he had a suit of power armor.

After sending everyone off to rest, Ye Yun glanced at the countdown for the second crisis.

Because he had given Bena and the others an extra task, they had returned later than expected.

Now, less than 24 hours remained until the second crisis.

Although he had a strong hunch about what the second crisis would entail, he didn’t let his guard down. After all, until it happened, everything was just speculation.

He looked at the shelter space that the construction bots had finished expanding 12 hours ago.

Ye Yun hesitated but decided not to start any new construction immediately.

There was no rush. Since he had no other urgent needs at the moment, he could afford to wait and see.

Ye Yun opened the Exchange. The lethal items he wanted still weren’t there.

But he did spot a few interesting gadgets.

As everyone in the Wasteland kept scavenging—I mean, exploring—the items on the Exchange were becoming more and more diverse.

Ye Yun bought pretty much any useful-looking item he saw. After all, he had plenty of resources on hand right now.

He took another look, confirming that there were no other items he was interested in on the Exchange recently.

He casually listed a few protective vests that the construction bots had just finished producing.

Perhaps because the second crisis was less than 24 hours away, many people were working around the clock to prepare equipment and items they might need.

There was a noticeable small-scale price hike for items on the Exchange. Naturally, Ye Yun wouldn’t miss out on such a good thing, and he followed the trend by slightly increasing his prices.

Night fell, and the shelter’s bright white lights shifted to a soft, creamy yellow.

As Ye Yun closed the Exchange and entered his quarters, the lights dimmed further, leaving only a few essential nightlights on for illumination.

Ye Yun lay on his bed, but his mind couldn’t find peace.

He pondered the future of the shelter and his own place in this Wasteland World.

Without even realizing it, he had been in this Wasteland World for nearly 20 days.

After 20 days of hard work, the shelter had slowly begun to develop from its initial state of being completely destitute.

With the help of the evaluation system, while he couldn’t say all his choices were absolutely correct, at least they weren’t wildly off the mark.

The shelter was constantly expanding, and all the upgradable facilities had been fully upgraded.

Ye Yun opened the system.

Used Space: 8

Unused Space: 1 [+}

Food Reserves: 100/100 [+}

Fresh Water Reserves: 100/100 [+}

Power Reserves: 400/400 [+}

Medicine: 10/100 [+}

Construction Bots: 5/5

Advanced Bioroid: 1/1

Bioroids: 3/3

Normal Humans: 3/3

Shelter Members: 7

Looking at the shelter’s data, Ye Yun’s brows furrowed slightly.

Ye Yun couldn’t claim that his was the fastest-developing of all the shelters.

But he was definitely among the top tier. The resources he possessed alone were beyond what ordinary people could match.

Of course, there were a total of 100 million shelters on this wasteland... no, that’s not right. Ye Yun glanced at the number of remaining shelters displayed by the system.

Holy crap. The last time he checked, there were over 89 million people.

In just nine days, the number had dropped from over 89 million to just over 87 million.

That meant in a short span of nine days, over two million people had lost their lives for various reasons.

Ye Yun found this completely incomprehensible.

Honestly, even if all the wastelanders they recruited died and all their bioroids were destroyed, they shouldn’t have died so quickly as long as they kept the Shelter Entrance shut.

Most likely, these people had given up on themselves, thrown open their Shelter Entrance, and run out into the Wasteland.

Of course, there was another possibility: the managers themselves went out to explore with their bioroids.

To be honest, while this situation wasn’t common, it wasn’t exactly rare either.

As long as a shelter had a science lab that could continuously produce Anti-Rad, the shelter manager could leave for short periods.

He had seen plenty of cases in the public chat rooms. Even in his three private chat rooms, there were one or two who liked to leave their shelters and wander around.

The one who liked going out the most was probably that guy, Lei Hu.

According to him, if the Anti-Rad didn’t have a 30-day cooldown, he’d go out even more often.

’I’m getting sidetracked. Among these eighty-something million people, there must be plenty of geniuses, professionals, and those who were just born lucky.’

Ye Yun had never assumed he was guaranteed to be stronger than all of them.

Although he had acquired considerable resources through trading, it didn’t mean there weren’t stronger shelters out there in the Wasteland.
