Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Reaching the Limit

Although the rewards from fighting bosses—including some valuable blue components—might be greater, that kind of combat came with significant risks and uncertainty.

In contrast, the income generated by construction robots required virtually no risk. All you needed was a relatively low-cost blueprint.

He got lucky this time. After only a dozen or so attempts, Ye Yun managed to find the perfect recipe.

[Repair Successful]

[You have obtained: Construction Robot (Green)]

!!!!

The once grimy, broken robot was now completely refurbished, its surface gleaming with a captivating metallic sheen.

[Construction Robot (Green)]

[A robot for shelter construction and production.]

[Durability: 100%] [Repairable]

Ye Yun nodded with satisfaction.

’Excellent. I have another gold mine that will provide me with a steady stream of resources.’

Before, two construction robots brought the shelter a daily income of 33 green components. Now, with three robots, that daily income would increase to 50 green components.

Ye Yun could now say with confidence that his daily income probably dwarfed the total income of over 90% of the other shelters.

Considering the massive income construction robots could bring to the shelter, Ye Yun immediately opened the public chat room.

[WTB: [Severely Damaged Construction Robot (Green)] for 9 green components. DM me if you have one.]

Ye Yun’s initial offer for a [Severely Damaged Construction Robot (Green)] was 3 green components. At that price, he had only managed to buy two of them right at the beginning, when everyone was desperate for resources. He hadn’t been able to acquire any more since.

He had since raised his offer several times, from the initial three green components all the way to six, but his requests still went unanswered.

At this stage of the game, the income a construction robot could generate for a shelter was simply too great.

A single construction robot could generate an income of nearly 17 green components per day.

Even if a construction robot cost 11 green components to acquire, it would only take a little over half a day to break even.

Ye Yun wasn’t sure if the item was just that rare, or if everyone was simply hoarding them and unwilling to sell.

He had always assumed it was the former, but now he suspected it was far more likely the latter.

Judging from his recent exploration of the abandoned shelter, and from the snippets of information Lei Hu had let slip before, it wasn’t hard to deduce that the drop rate for both [Bionic Human Wreckage (Green)] and [Severely Damaged Construction Robot (Green)] was likely quite high.

And yet, despite that, he still hadn’t received a single offer for a [Severely Damaged Construction Robot (Green)].

Even Lei Hu had never mentioned a word about it.

’I should probably re-evaluate Lei Hu,’ Ye Yun thought.

’Is he really as reckless as I first thought? Or is this whole act just a persona he’s trying to project? After all, people would naturally lower their guard around someone so impulsive and reckless.’

For now, Ye Yun didn’t dwell further on his speculations about Lei Hu.

They had little contact and didn’t know each other well. Baseless speculation would only cloud his judgment of the man later on.

Besides, interactions between shelters were currently limited to exchanging information and trading resources. There was no direct competition or cooperation involved yet.

For now, all the shelters were in a state of relative peace.

No one had any reason to cause trouble for other shelters.

More importantly, the various shelters were still in a "dark forest" state.

No one knew anyone else’s exact coordinates. Even if someone had malicious intent, finding another shelter in this vast, dark wilderness would be a near-impossible task.

Take his recent exploration, for example. Even with the abandoned shelter’s exact coordinates, it still took him over an hour of searching the vicinity to find the entrance.

Without precise coordinates, finding another person’s shelter in the wasteland would be incredibly difficult.

Perhaps because Ye Yun had suddenly raised the price to nine green components, someone finally contacted him.

[Brother Ye, I have a [Severely Damaged Construction Robot (Green)], but 9 green components is a little too low. Make it 10, and it’s yours.]

Seeing the seller’s attempt to haggle, a flash of annoyance crossed Ye Yun’s eyes. ’I’ve already raised the price to nine green components, and they’re still not satisfied?’

However, considering the daily income a construction robot could generate, Ye Yun gritted his teeth and agreed.

After completing the trade, Ye Yun immediately began the repairs.

[Number of Construction Robots has reached the shelter’s capacity limit (3). Please upgrade the relevant facilities to increase capacity.]

Ye Yun: ?????

Staring at the system prompt, he was completely baffled. ’What’s going on?’

Ye Yun immediately opened the system menu.

Occupied Space: 8

Vacant Space: 0 [+]

Food Reserves: 40/100 [+]

Freshwater Reserves: 40/100 [+]

Power Reserves: 400/400 [+]

Medicine: 2/100 [+]

Construction Robots: 3/3

Advanced Bionic Humans: 1/1

Bionic Humans: 3/3

Normal Humans: 2/3

Shelter Members: 6

He hadn’t noticed before that there was a cap on these things.

’Then again, it seems reasonable. The shelter is only so big; it can’t possibly hold an infinite number of residents.’

Ye Yun opened the building list and began looking through it.

Most of the buildings on the list were grayed out, indicating they couldn’t be built yet.

Ye Yun had checked the building list before; the more members the shelter had, the more buildings would be unlocked.

Clearly, the reason he couldn’t construct new buildings was that the shelter’s population was too low. He needed more people to unlock further development options.

PS: Someone asked why the new Green-grade Bionic Human has the same stats. I just want to say, is it possible that Bionic Human #1 and #2 were also Green-grade? This same issue came up before with the construction robots; it’s the same situation.
