Chapter 167: Chapter 118: Resource Warehouse, Part 2

But if he were to build a new Warehouse and deposit a batch of resources, it would open up a world of possibilities. Many problems could be easily solved, and the flow and exchange of resources would become much smoother.

"Boss, that’s a great idea! I’m in!" Zhang Peng instantly grasped the implications and raised his hand.

"I’m in too, but Boss, can I get a loan on some resources first? My fortress is a wreck, and I’ve lost a lot of Catmen," Liu Xingxing pleaded pitifully.

Seeing that both of them agreed, Li Ziyu nodded. "Xingxing, I’ll give you another batch of resources. But from now on, you’ll have to exchange for them at the Warehouse yourself."

Liu Xingxing nodded eagerly. "No problem! You can count on me, Boss!"

Li Ziyu opened the Warehouse. After a moment’s thought, he first transferred 1,000 units of meat to Liu Xingxing so he could summon another 200 Catmen. Then, he allocated 1,000 units of wood for him to repair his fortress. Finally, he selected the option to build a new Warehouse from the system.

He set the new Warehouse’s permissions to "open," allowing resources to be acquired via trade. At the same time, he deposited 5,000 units of food, along with 10,000 units each of wood, Stone, and ore, to serve as the initial stockpile.

Once everything was ready, Li Ziyu informed Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing. He also gave Zhang Peng administrative privileges, allowing him to mobilize some of the Warehouse’s resources and adjust prices.

Li Ziyu placed immense trust in the companions who had signed a contract with him. As the saying goes, ’If you use someone, trust them completely; if you doubt them, don’t use them at all.’ Zhang Peng was in charge of business, so giving him these permissions was also to make it easier for him to acquire valuable resources.

Li Ziyu knew that he was often resting during the day. For Zhang Peng to expand his business, he would inevitably need to move large quantities of resources. Therefore, granting these permissions was essential.

After Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng departed in high spirits, Li Ziyu sat on his White Bone Throne and contemplated for a moment. He then walked over to the Soul Coffin, opened the lid, and released the Ghosts.

This nightly release was something the Ghosts eagerly awaited. The moment the lid opened, they shot into the sky with a cheer.

What was a cheer in their eyes was a cacophony of shrieks and wails to anyone else. Combined with the Death Qi that permeated the air around them, it was a veritable parade of demons.

"King Borhan!" The streaks of green light were blinding, and Li Ziyu couldn’t make out any of the Ghosts’ faces, so he had no choice but to shout at the top of his lungs.

The words had barely left his mouth when a streak of green light appeared before him. It was King Borhan. He gave Li Ziyu a slight bow. "Saler Borhan, at the service of the Master of the Undead."

"King Borhan, there is something I need your help with," Li Ziyu said, returning the bow.

"Please, Master of the Undead, speak freely." Saler’s expression remained unchanged upon hearing he was needed, but inwardly, he was thrilled.

’As the former ruler of a powerful kingdom, he had a firm grasp of human nature. You had to have value to be given important tasks, to be trusted.’

’Take the Fox Maiden, for example. Why was she allowed to stay by the Master of the Undead’s side?’

’Because she has value. She’s beautiful, isn’t she? Easy on the eyes. At the end of the day, the Master of the Undead is a Human who can control the Undead. In his eyes, the Fox Maiden is a true, bona fide beauty. Even though she’s a Wandering Soul and can’t do anything... intimate, who could refuse having a few beautiful women with sweet voices by his side?’

The Fox People Ghosts, led by the four Fox Maidens, were gradually shifting their strategy. They were trying to all become Li Ziyu’s Maids, which would give them more opportunities to interact with the outside world.

’And as the first to make contact with the Master of the Undead and the one in charge of the Wandering Souls, I feel like I’m falling behind. This is not a good sign. I know the capabilities of a Fox Maiden all too well—they’re practically fairies! The Fox People have always been one of the most intelligent clans in the Beastman Race, and they have an even stronger grasp on how to handle men.’

’If the Master of the Undead is successfully sweet-talked by the Fox Maidens, my own position will be in jeopardy. Useless people are always marginalized.’

’We are no longer the Wandering Souls imprisoned in the mountains, deprived of our freedom. Li Ziyu is willing to let us out for air, to see this new world. This has given us Wandering Souls a sense of infinite possibility. We no longer think of dissipating, but instead have begun to ponder how we can exist for even longer.’

’After that last time we were let out, the mentality of the Wandering Souls has completely changed. Mortals always speak of eternal life, but besides the long-lived races, how many have ever truly achieved it?’

’But we have!’

’We’re Wandering Souls! As long as we aren’t reckless, we won’t die. Living for a thousand or eight hundred years would be a piece of cake.’

This realization made Saler understand that he had to be even more respectful toward Li Ziyu. The Master of the Undead’s power likely wasn’t limited to just controlling the Skeleton Undead; he also held sway over them, the Wandering Souls.

Li Ziyu, unaware of the myriad thoughts racing through Saler’s mind, smiled and began to speak. "Here’s the situation. Things haven’t been very peaceful lately. There are always people who have it in for me. I was hoping to have you Wandering Souls help keep watch on the surroundings. If any enemies appear, notify me in advance so I can prepare."

"No problem. Rest assured, I will make the proper arrangements," Saler replied without the slightest hesitation.

’This is good. This is a great thing!’

’Guard duty! Not just anyone could be entrusted with a job like this. It means trust. If the Master of the Undead didn’t trust us, why would he assign us such an important task?’

Seeing Saler agree so readily, the smile on Li Ziyu’s face deepened. He gave him a nod. Saler bowed slightly and went off to make the arrangements.

There was truly no one better suited for guard duty than the Wandering Souls. They could float in the air, and as long as they concealed their auras, they were impossible to spot in the night sky. Best of all, these guys were immune to most Physical Attacks. Killing them or even stopping them from sounding an alarm would be incredibly difficult.
