Chapter 566: Chapter 557: Forbidden Realm
Not only has his lifespan increased.
Ding Ling’s vitality and regenerative abilities have improved even more.
Ding Ling felt that as the Longevity Venerable Qi increased, and with his Dantian and internal organs being infused with massive amounts of Life Essence Qi, even if he were seriously injured, he might recover quickly.
Of course.
He would not deliberately inflict serious harm on himself, but he did try to cut his arm slightly. True to his expectations, as the Longevity Venerable Qi moved around the wound, a surge of Life Essence Qi emerged, and the wound almost instantly healed, with the skin becoming as resilient as before.
"This regenerative power is amazing."
Ding Ling nodded to himself.
This Water of Eternal Youth only works with the first sip, and the same goes for the Immortal Tree Bark.
Ding Ling and Li Canghai even tried taking another bite of the bark and leaves.
Unfortunately, it was ineffective.
Evidently, only the first sip or bite of the water and tree has any effect here.
They drank a bowl of the Water of Eternal Youth, which was actually unnecessary since only the first sip seemed effective.
"Let’s see what the boundary of this area is like."
Ding Ling had acquired enough opportunities here.
He then used the Soaring in the Void technique, leaping a hundred feet high, feeling as if he could touch the Celestial Palace. Of course, Ding Ling knew it was an illusion. He flew forward and soon landed atop a mountain peak. Looking ahead, he saw a grey region, vast and endless.
Flying towards the surrounding mountains, he found it was the same.
It seemed like this world was all one Forbidden Realm, with the Valley of Eternal Spring being the concentration of all the essence and vitality of this world.
"It’s so strange."
Li Canghai stood beside Ding Ling.
With the consumption of the Water of Eternal Youth and tree bark, Li Canghai became younger and stronger. Her demeanor was so gentle and calm that standing next to Ding Ling, she appeared like an ethereal fairy, carefree, as if she might ascend to the heavens at any moment.
She looked ahead at the grey region and tossed a bit of tree bark into it experimentally. Sizzle! The bark had just fallen into the void and was quickly corroded into ashes before falling into the grey region, becoming part of its soil.
Ding Ling took out a bowl from his Storage Pouch and tossed it too.
The bowl rapidly cracked and shattered into pieces, turning into ashes just like the bark, falling to the ground, also becoming part of the soil.
In just two breaths, the bowl turned to ashes.
Ding Ling and Li Canghai exchanged glances and couldn’t help but take a step back.
"It seems that this world is completely different from ours."
Li Canghai said, moved:
"Or perhaps this world originally belonged to our world, but some horrifying conflict in the Ancient Era left it abandoned, except for the Valley of Eternal Spring."
The two exchanged thoughts.
Seeing how terrifying this Forbidden Realm was.
They naturally had no interest in exploring it further.
They both returned to the Stone Monument.
Ding Ling thought of how the monument was grabbed by the three of Master Xiaoyao and then restored automatically, suppressing the Celestial Ladder. He realized that the monument was extraordinary. Without it, the Valley of Eternal Spring might have collapsed.
Considering the effects of the Water of Eternal Youth and the Immortal Tree, Ding Ling had no intention of destroying this place. If Diao Chan and others ascended to this world in the future, they could come here to drink the water and gnaw on the bark.
Although it wouldn’t be as effective as now,
It would still be of some use.
Additionally, Ding Ling speculated that perhaps the sip of the Water of Eternal Youth Master Xiaoyao had drunk was the only one with longevity effects because he was the first to enter the Valley of Eternal Spring. This Fountain of Youth had gathered countless years of Life Essence Qi, and at Master Xiaoyao’s first drink, he could instantly change in appearance, giving the impression of eternal life and youth, which was quite normal.
"After returning, we can let Zhong Ling and the others come to try the Water of Eternal Youth."
Ding Ling suggested.
Li Canghai shook her head and said:
"I’m afraid they won’t have the ability to get in."
Ding Ling thought about the complexity of entering through the Life Gate and said:
"Once their cultivation and Lightweight Skill are high enough, it shouldn’t be a problem for them to come."
Li Canghai said:
"If I were in this world, I would guide them well."
Ding Ling thanked her.
"Your Majesty need not be so formal with me. Li Qinglu is, after all, my granddaughter. I also like Zhong Ling and Mu Wanqing very much. It is my choice to look out for them."
Hearing this, Ding Ling let the matter pass and instead mentioned how Master Xiaoyao knew about the Life Gate.
Li Canghai shook her head, saying she didn’t know, but added:
"For Master to set foot here, he must have acquired a special opportunity long ago, one that pointed out the path of life. Otherwise, how could Master have entered?"
Ding Ling nodded, realizing that the world is full of mysteries.
Who could have imagined a Celestial Dragon Eight Books World would hide a mysterious place like the Valley of Eternal Spring?
The two exchanged a look, then skillfully retrieved the Stone Monument.
As they unearthed the monument, there was a boom!
A Celestial Ladder erupted from beneath the ground, shooting up into the heavens, reaching an unknown realm in the void.
They both were curious about where the three of Master Xiaoyao went, and Ding Ling knew that as long as the Celestial Ladder was not part of a completed task, people could ascend and descend it freely.
Since Ding Ling hadn’t activated this world’s task ladder, he could naturally navigate the Celestial Ladder created by others freely.
Both of them, with supreme Lightweight Skill, leaped up the ladder, ascending skywards.
Their speed was incredible.
Along the way, they passed through the Celestial Palace, getting a clear view of the sun’s true form.
It turned out to be a spherical object, entirely red?!
’An artificial sun?!’
Ding Ling was surprised and wanted to get closer but couldn’t. The artificial sun seemed protected by a powerful array, and seeing this, Ding Ling could only continue ascending the ladder.
They passed through multiple layers of the celestial canopy.
Neither of them knew how long they traveled.
The two emerged from a narrow celestial tunnel into a strange realm.
Initially emerging, their eyes brightened.
They felt a sense of release, a weight lifted off their shoulders, bringing a sense of freedom.
But when they saw what lay before them, they both raised their eyebrows and their pupils constricted in shock.
Before them lay a deep, dividing chasm.
One side of the chasm was the broad platform the Celestial Ladder reached.
The other side.
Was shrouded in a thick, emerald mist.
Ding Ling’s extraordinary eyesight allowed him to vaguely make out layers of collapsed, fractured palaces within the mist.
As he walked to the edge of the chasm, he saw more clearly.
At the other side of the chasm, there stood a wide, majestic, yet broken and incomplete gate.
The signboard had shattered and lay on the ground.
Ding Ling could faintly recognize three ancient characters on the sign: South Celestial Sect!
"South Celestial Sect!"
Li Canghai was moved, exclaiming in surprise.
Evidently, she was well-versed and recognized these ancient characters.
The two exchanged glances, feeling shocked and amazed.
Was this the legendary South Celestial Sect at the end of the Celestial Ladder?!
This couldn’t be a joke, right?
"What about your master?"
Ding Ling thought of a question.
"Could he have entered inside the South Celestial Sect?"
"I don’t know either."
Li Canghai looked bewildered and fearful, considering the dreadful consequences if her master had entered such a realm.
"I’ll go over and take a look later."
Ding Ling glanced at the chasm, which was a hundred feet wide and bottomless.
