Chapter 692: Chapter 48: Gurulu

Su Changxing casually tossed this person’s corpse into the Pocket Galaxy, and then searched through his belongings.

Very poor, nothing of value. Mysterious Items of too low a rank simply couldn’t be used here. The only notable item was his black coat.

The black coat had the ability to conceal its wearer’s presence. If it weren’t for his voluntary exposure, Su Changxing would have had a hard time noticing him.

[Houndstooth Coat: Upper Rank B, able to conceal one’s actions to a certain extent.]

A good item.

Su Changxing put it on himself, and combined with the Shadow Cloak, the probability of being detected by others was greatly reduced.

Meanwhile, he stole an impressive-looking ability from the man.

Three, three, three.

[Stolen Pointer Movement: Divides one second into 12 segments, within every 4 segments, 2 will completely conceal oneself.]

That’s why, when he watched this person move earlier, it was in jerky increments.

This is an excellent ability, capable of causing enemies to misjudge information during battle.

Moreover, if the speed is fast enough, one could kill an enemy entirely within the two concealed segments.

His Stealing Position is currently full; they’re all necessary. This ability can only be placed in a temporary stealing slot, to be replaced during combat.

Sometimes having too many abilities isn’t beneficial, as one can become tangled in deciding which to use; each seems advantageous.

Among all Slaughter Game participants, this person should be considered of high class. If he hadn’t already been infected with the plague, Su Changxing might have had to employ more tactics and effort to kill him.

Moreover, they weren’t alone. If the battle had lasted too long, other changes might have occurred.

After organizing himself, Su Changxing hefted his Scythe and staggered forward.

He sensed that there were others ahead, observers nearby during their fight.

But the battle ended so quickly that those eyes disappeared promptly.

"Did they run away? Hmm, no."

Su Changxing arrived at a hillside, scanning his surroundings; he sensed someone’s presence here, yet it vanished by his approach—likely hiding or running.

His perception picked up traces; he didn’t detect the person’s presence but felt the plague upon them.

"Hiding in the tree? No, seemingly within the tree itself; is that an ability to merge with the tree? Ordinarily, people wouldn’t think of it."

Su Changxing slowly approached the tree, his steps rustling the grass.

The forest was quiet, so quiet there wasn’t a single other sound.

He paused beside a massive craggy tree, seemingly over a hundred years old, requiring seven or eight adults to embrace it.

Sunlight streamed through the leaves’ gaps, casting spots on the ground; a slight breeze whispered with a rustling sound.

Suddenly, Su Changxing drew his Silenced Pistol from his waist, aiming at a distant tree, pulling the trigger; the bullet pierced the trunk through, and dark blood seeped from the hole.

Immediately.

A woman with long hair, clad in tight-fitting clothes, slipped out of the tree and collapsed, her body entirely ulcerated, a bullet hole between her brows.

Her features were clear despite the rot, yet the decay removed any trace of beauty, leaving only repulsion.

She had discovered Su Changxing’s presence earlier, but her plague condition was worsening; escape was impossible, and she gambled on him not finding her.

In reality, even without discovery by Su Changxing, she wouldn’t survive—the plague would slowly consume her until she ceased to exist.

[Killed participant, +10 points]

Both people he killed earned him 10 points each, as early-game encounters were with those who mostly hadn’t yet killed.

Su Changxing opened his phone to check the leaderboard, believing that the 20 points from killing two people would place him high.

However, upon checking, he found himself ranked over 500; his rank rapidly declining.

"Truly mad."

He remarked with no expression—plague left him feeling numb, restricting his expressions.

Exhaling, Su Changxing slowly sat against another tree, silently watching the corpse decay piece by piece.

Under such circumstances, urgency was unnecessary; he’d killed the woman because she was nearby.

If left undisturbed, he could simply wait.

As the game progressed, the red light surrounding the Land of Slaughter would shrink, reducing the players’ area.

Then, the real fierce battles would begin, transforming the place into a land of despair. Or not.

...

A thundering roar.

A massive, red-skinned monster charged across the wasteland, pursuing a group ahead: "Gurulu! Kill!"

The oppressive terror compelled the group to flee, never imagining how such a fearsome creature joined the game.

Despair deepened as they inexplicably contracted a disease, their bodies ulcerating, numbing, and disorienting.

Under such conditions, even a coalition of ten couldn’t rival this monster.

Some time before.

They had united, over a dozen strong, to fight this insane Barbarian, only to be devastated, half dying before fleeing.

The monster was terrifying, nearly impervious to negative effects or constraints, crushing them with brute force.

Its ability to shatter rules with raw strength incited fear, as if the Barbarian possessed pure rules power—an uncomplicated Domain, yet capable of undoing everything.

Sometimes complexity doesn’t equate to strength, nor simplicity equate to weakness.

The Barbarian’s beast clothing expanded with his size, and as he ran, the ground trembled, leaving huge footprints.

His skin displayed mild ulcerations, but his formidable physique suppressed the sickness.

Unaware of his infection, he just felt itchy, frequently scratching raw until bleeding.

This only made him more irritable; a brutish male charged without restraint, already claiming over ten lives, clutching someone’s severed leg while chasing others.

The sound of flesh grinding was followed by another person being slammed into the ground; yet, not dead, their body transformed into numerous slithering blood worms, creeping from fingertips.

Though the worms created from blood fled in all directions, Gurulu ignored them, continuing to chase others.

He discerned between more and less, avoiding swapping watermelon for sesame seeds; clearly unwise.

Worms formed from flesh didn’t travel far before stopping, emitting strange hissing as each began to rot.

From decaying bodies, new worms emerged, continuing to flee.

The cycle persisted until each worm shrank progressively.

Ultimately, they consolidated into a human form; upon formation, all worms ceased, becoming rotted flesh, pooling on the ground.

He had died, slain by the mysterious plague.

[Killed participant, +10 points]

Su Changxing received a notification, another surge of power coursed through him, enhancing physique.

[Physique +0.3]

His physical constitution continued to strengthen, reaching a balance with the plague, and the facial ulcers vanished, skin returning to its smooth original state.

As further prompts arrived, Su Changxing knew more fell to plague, his points increasing, ranking climbing from 1,300 to within 1,000.
