Chapter 554: Chapter 118: Soul-Type Pillar God, Attack and Defense
"Thousand Faces, do you know the specific conditions and trials for ascending to a Pillar God?"
Once again, they were in the pitch-black space.
This time, Lince directly questioned the God of Thousand Faces.
The God of Thousand Faces had just arrived. Upon hearing Lince’s question, his eyes widened.
He didn’t answer Lince’s question right away. Instead, he studied Lince carefully, then suddenly gave a cryptic smile.
"Nidhogg, why the sudden question?"
"The trials and conditions for becoming a Pillar God... aren’t they just the usual? The biggest trouble is simply that during the final stages of ascension, many Authority Level beings of the same Law will try to interfere."
"What’s this? Nig Hog, have you learned something? Information about other requirements for ascending to a Pillar God?"
At the God of Thousand Faces’s words, both the God of All Machines and the Mother of All Things revealed looks of suspicion.
Of course, their suspicion was directed at both Lince and the God of Thousand Faces.
"Are you two speaking in riddles?"
"Nidhogg, it seems to me you must have learned something different about the Pillar God ascension, haven’t you?"
"Why not just say it outright?"
The God of All Machines was quite direct, interjecting immediately.
The Mother of All Things, however, did not chime in.
After all, the God of All Machines had already asked.
’There was no need for me to say more.’ Whether Lince was willing to speak, or whether the God of Thousand Faces was hiding something from them, wasn’t really worth discussing.
’After all, even as allies, who didn’t keep a few things or a bit of information to themselves?’
For a moment, they all fell silent.
But in that moment of silence, the God of Thousand Faces’s expression suddenly shifted, and he asked tentatively,
"Let me ask you this, Nig Hog. Your question... don’t tell me you’ve already taken that step?"
The God of Thousand Faces had just asked the question when he immediately shook his head in denial. "No, that can’t be right. How long has it been? I haven’t even achieved Unity yet."
In response, Lince suddenly laughed.
In the end, Lince had never intended to hide anything.
After all, things had already reached this point.
He needed to lay some things out in the open. Only then could he ask the Three Gods for more information.
So, Lince didn’t say much.
Instead, he directly shared a packet of information with the Three Gods of the Cosmos.
This information wasn’t about the Authority Level.
It was about the origin of the True Cosmic Game.
Indirectly, of course, it also concerned the existential form of the Cosmos and the truth of its ravenous expansion.
There was even some information not meant for outsiders.
After the Three Gods of the Cosmos finished processing this information...
...the God of Thousand Faces’s expression was relatively calm.
Clearly, the God of Thousand Faces already knew about this.
The God of All Machines and the Mother of All Things, however, were wide-eyed, their expressions a mixture of shock and dawning realization.
"To think the Cosmic Star Sea held such a great secret."
"What’s even more unexpected is the origin of this game fragment we obtained."
"So, these game fragments are actually a method intentionally allowed by the rules of the Cosmos, hoping to quickly cultivate a batch of qualified Authority Level Deities?"
Still shaken, the God of All Machines instantly looked back at Lince, his gaze also intentionally drifting toward the God of Thousand Faces.
Lince didn’t say anything more. He chose to remain silent, staring directly at the God of Thousand Faces.
Seeing the gazes from Lince, the God of All Machines, and even the Mother of All Things fixed on him...
...the God of Thousand Faces gave what seemed to be a helpless wave of his hand.
The act was up. He laid his cards on the table.
"More or less."
"Don’t look at me like that. I actually haven’t known this information for very long myself."
"I found out a little while before our last discussion about the difficulty of ascending to a Pillar God."
As he spoke, the God of Thousand Faces immediately projected an image into the space before them.
In the image was a pitch-black Star Sea.
Suddenly, within this Star Sea, a terrifying, multi-colored, V-shaped pillar of radiant light appeared.
This massive pillar of light spanned at least a hundred light-years, covering the entire region.
And within this pillar of light, a terrifying creature was generating a vast number of light-and-shadow clones, which were locked in a fierce battle with over a thousand Authority Level Deities surrounding the pillar.
The sheer scale of this terrifying war was staggering to behold.
At any moment, a Fixed Star System could be annihilated. The next, perhaps an entire region of a constellation-class galaxy would be destroyed.
The great battle was incredibly brutal.
Here, Authority Level beings were a dime a dozen, gathered together to attack the entity within the pillar of light.
But the final outcome was never in doubt.
In the end, all these Authority Level beings failed to effectively stop its path to becoming a Pillar God.
Even at the last moment, when several beings who also seemed qualified to ascend to Pillar God status launched a sudden sneak attack on the one ascending, the entity still managed to withstand the siege.
It sustained considerable injuries, but in the end, in the second before the light of the super-massive pillar faded, it had not died.
And that meant it had successfully survived the most difficult trial of ascension to a Pillar God.
But contrary to what one might expect, this Authority Level being, who had successfully passed the tribulation, did not immediately ascend to become a Pillar God.
It didn’t even allow a single Deity to witness the true form it should have possessed as a Pillar God.
For no reason at all.
Just like that, abruptly, the ’protagonist’ who had just been undergoing its tribulation vanished.
Not a single being could find any trace of its disappearance.
"In short, this is the scene one of my avatars witnessed back then."
