Chapter 306: The Superhuman Guild
"Be careful, everyone..."
"Mhmm... I’m not sensing any hostility yet."
"There might be others lying in ambush," Mei muttered as she assessed the towering man with four arms blocking their path.
Although there was no hostility yet, his presence radiated menace. His eyes scanned the group, lingering on her, Vera, and other female survivors with a faint smirk.
"You’ve got strength,"
The four-armed man spoke with a deep voice...
"And you have some pretty faces too. Perfect for what we’re building. I am Aaron, a recruiter of the Superhuman Guild. Join us, and you’ll receive the Special Mutation Gene. It will improve your power beyond anything you’ve known... in exchange for mutation. That’s a cheap price of survival."
The group froze for a moment, exchanging glances. None of them had expected the towering figure to speak like that. From the way he blocked the road, they had assumed a fight was inevitable... not a recruitment pitch.
Juno tilted his head and muttered, "A recruiter? Out here?"
His tone carried disbelief. They had just been attacked by the Fangs and the B-Rank Sentinels. Being recruited by another Guild was the last thing on their mind.
Steven’s hand rested on the hilt of his weapon as he was still prepared to fight.
"I thought we were about to clash. Didn’t expect him to start offering deals. But don’t get too relaxed. I don’t think he has good intentions."
Vera frowned while clutching her bundled blue grass. "Eww... Special Mutation Gene...? He’s treating this like a trade. But mutation isn’t something you just accept so easily.
Mei kept her eyes on Aaron and answered. "We’re not interested. We already belong to the Codebreakers Guild."
The four‑armed man’s smile vanished. He knew about the Rank 1 Guild!
However, he didn’t believe them. It must be their way to reject and warn them, but that wouldn’t work.
"Codebreakers? I’ve seen a few people claiming that already... I’ll give you one last chance..."
Suddenly, from the shadows, five more figures emerged.
Each bore the marks of mutation.
One had four eyes, glowing faintly in the dark.
Another’s tail lashed like a whip, destroying a rock nearby...
A third had elongated arms with two elbow joints and clawed fingers, reaching unnaturally far.
The fourth also had four arms, but his skin was covered with hardened scales, like armor.
The last, on the other hand, had extra joints along his legs, allowing him to move with unsettling speed and flexibility.
The survivors tightened their grip on their weapons.
These mutants were different...
Still, Mei’s team weren’t completely defenseless...
Aside from X-07 to X-10, their four Modified Sentinels following behind, they had more firepower than ever!
They weren’t afraid. They had just come from the Black Market Auction hours ago.
Though most consumables had been spent against the Fangs and the B‑Rank Sentinels, they had secured several priceless items.
One of them was the cloak!

Juno, who had Master‑Grade Telekinesis, also took out his 12 Rare-Grade Knives ready for deployment. These knives were purchased in the Auction Realm for 30 Survivor Medals each!
Then, Steven, with his Superior Iron Will Combatant, brought out his halberd that was also from the Auction Realm!
Meanwhile, Mei just vanished using her Living Camouflage Talent as she was preparing to ambush them for later!

The moment Aaron’s smirk faded, the clash began.
Still, only four of the six mutated figures moved first, as they moved forward with unnatural speed.
The one with four eyes scanned the battlefield, staying at the back, giving warnings to his allies as he tracked every movement.
The tail‑mutant, on the other hand, lashed out and smashed a boulder into shards, while the elongated‑armed fighter reached across the ground, targeting Steven in front...
At the same time, the scaled four‑armed mutant advanced like a living tank, while the jointed runner ran in zigzags, too fast for ordinary eyes to follow!
Mei’s command, however, came in an instant!
"Sentinels, fire!"
X‑07 through X‑10 raised their plasma rifles in unison.
The weapons hummed, then unleashed bursts of burning energy.
One of the mutants almost dropped as a plasma bolt tore through his shoulder, but the scaled one pushed forward, deflecting shots with his hardened hide!
Still, as the enemies got closer, using Plasma Rifles would get too dangerous, as they might hit their allies!
"You’re not going anywhere!" Juno shoulted as his knives hovered in the air.
These twelve Rare‑Grade blades were spinning like a deadly storm!
With a flick of his hand, they shot forward, piercing into the tail‑mutant’s flank. The creature roared, whipping its tail wildly due to pain.... but Juno’s telekinesis forced the knives deeper, pinning it against the ground!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Steven stepped into the front line, halberd raised.
His Superior Iron Will Combatant talent made him immovable.
"Come!" He taunted.
The elongated‑armed mutant charged, but Steven caught the strike on his weapon and shoved forward!
Bam!
His sheer resilience broke the mutant’s momentum.
Vera then threw a couple of smoke grenades, forcing the jointed runner to stumble, his speed disrupted.
"Don’t let them regroup!" she shouted.
Meanwhile, Mei had vanished. Her Living Camouflage talent made her invisible to the naked eye.
She circled wide, slipping past the scaled mutant’s guard.
In silence, she prepared her ambush, with her dagger poised for a lethal strike.
Aaron himself finally moved, his four arms flexing as he equipped his four swords!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Suddenly, plasma bolts slammed into him, but he shrugged them off, his mutated body absorbing the impact so seamlessly!
"You think your toys will save you? Mutation is the only path forward!"
