Chapter 550: Chapter 419: Ruined Black Stone Castle and Sun’s Ascension
The clouds in the sky were blasted apart by the dragon’s roar.
Sand and stone on the ground were sent flying by the roar.
Then,
Before the awestruck, shocked, and feverish eyes of all who watched,
Within the pillar of golden fire that shot into the sky, within the waterfall of molten Gold,
A colossal figure, shrouded in endless light and heat, slowly unfolded its wings.
Each Dragon Scale seemed forged from the purest Gold, its edges trickling with liquid golden Flame.
Its wings unfurled, blotting out the sky!
Sun had awoken!
Flame.
Golden Flame became the only color in the world.
Raylo stood before his tent, his heart hammering in his chest.
His gaze pierced the endless light and flame, locking onto the colossal figure at the center of the fiery pillar.
Sun.
Its body was far larger than before, its length easily exceeding two hundred meters.
Its draconic form seemed to hold a flicker of undying True Sun Fire, radiating a divine and imposing might.
Most striking of all was its forehead.
On Sun’s forehead, right between its brows, the Sun Crown Stone was embedded like a third eye, radiating a blinding light.
"ROAR!"
Another roar ripped through the air.
This time, it was an exultant roar.
Sun’s massive body gave a violent shudder within the sky-piercing pillar of fire.
"WHOOSH!"
As if finding a release, the golden Flame surged toward the sky with every beat of its wings.
It rocketed into the sky!
Its entire form broke free from the earth, transforming into a true, miniature sun hanging high above the Black Stone Territory.
In that instant, the world lost all color.
The dim yellow twilight was utterly banished. The entire world was as bright as noon.
Everyone instinctively shut their eyes, unable to withstand the blinding light.
At that moment,
On the distant horizon, from the direction of Silver Moon Castle,
a streak of crimson light tore through the sky at an astonishing speed.
It was the Blazing Phoenix!
The crimson streak of light came to a halt in the sky, several kilometers from Black Stone Castle.
The light faded, revealing the form of the Blazing Phoenix.
Now, its phoenix eyes were fixed on the golden "sun" in the sky, filled with deep wariness.
It could feel it.
The Golden Dragon before it was no longer the opponent it had dominated just a few days ago.
"SCREECH!"
The Blazing Phoenix let out a shrill cry.
It hovered in the distance, not daring to draw closer.
In the sky,
Sun slowly turned toward the Blazing Phoenix.
A pair of eyes burning with golden Flame, as brilliant as twin stars, clashed with the blood-red phoenix eyes across the vast expanse.
There was no roar, no cry.
Only silence.
But this silence was more suffocating than any sound.
The two Magical Beasts remained locked in a silent standoff high above the Black Stone Territory.
In the end,
It was the Blazing Phoenix that broke eye contact first.
It let out another shriek, filled with resentment and bitterness—a shrill, ear-piercing cry.
Then, with a powerful flap of its wings, it transformed into a frantic crimson streak and fled toward Silver Moon Castle without a single look back.
It had retreated.
Golden Flame, like a bursting dam, poured down from the top of Black Stone Castle.
Billowing waves of heat swept out in all directions.
Black Stone Town, the closest settlement to the castle, was not spared.
Wooden houses were instantly set ablaze, while some stone walls cracked and crumbled in the intense heat.
The streets filled with a cacophony of terrified screams and cries.
The territory’s people fled from their burning homes in a panic, their faces etched with despair and terror.
They could only watch helplessly as their homes were reduced to ash in the sea of golden fire.
"Water! Get water, now!"
Ed’s voice was hoarse as he directed the Knights, attempting to organize a firefighting effort.
But ordinary water, splashed upon the golden Flame, evaporated instantly without even a wisp of steam.
This fire could not be put out.
Sun, high in the sky, also realized the destruction it had unintentionally caused.
It controlled its Power, reining in the blazing light around its body and letting out a low, rumbling roar.
But by then, it was too late.
The inferno had already spread, engulfing Black Stone Castle and all of Black Stone Town in a sea of fire.
Just as everyone fell into despair,
Moonlight.
At some point, it had returned to its true form as a Silver Dragon.
It hovered silently in midair, its pale gold eyes gazing down upon the burning land below.
"AUNG!"
A clear, sonorous roar echoed across the sky.
Moonlight slowly raised its head. Its long, spiraled silver horns pointed toward the heavens.
The free Water Elements in the air began to converge around it at an unprecedented, frantic pace.
Pale blue specks of light, visible to the naked eye, swarmed from all directions like billions of fireflies. They converged above Moonlight’s head, forming a massive, rapidly spinning blue vortex.
The sky darkened.
It wasn’t because of the thick smoke. Instead, vast swaths of dark, leaden clouds had materialized out of thin air in just a few breaths, blanketing the sky above the entire Black Stone Territory.
The air temperature plummeted.
The searing heatwave was beaten back.
"BOOM!"
A thick, silver-white bolt of Lightning ripped through the heavy clouds.
Then,
"WHOOSH!"
A torrential downpour crashed down!
This was no ordinary rain.
Every drop contained pure Water Element Magic Power. The huge drops, as dense as a waterfall pouring from the heavens, hammered down upon the sea of fire.
"HISSSSSSS! HISSSSSSS! HISSSSSSS!"
The piercing sound echoed between heaven and earth.
Water and fire clashed upon the land in the most direct and violent of confrontations.
The golden Flame hissed with defiance as the frigid downpour washed over it.
Immense clouds of incredibly thick white steam shot skyward, shrouding the entire world in a hazy, chaotic mist.
Everyone looked up, staring blankly at the sky.
They watched the elegant and divine Silver Dragon amidst the dark clouds and lightning.
They watched the downpour, which was like a Miracle itself.
They forgot their cries, forgot their fear.
The downpour lasted for a full hour.
When the last drop of rain fell, the heavy clouds slowly dispersed.
Sunlight pierced the lingering steam, casting its rays upon the devastated land.
The fire was out.
But the Black Stone Castle and Black Stone Town of old were gone.
In their place, only a vast expanse of ruins remained, wisps of white smoke still curling into the air.
Molten rock had solidified into bizarre, jet-black shapes.
Charred wooden beams lay collapsed in the muddy streets.
The former Black Stone Castle and Black Stone Town were in ruins.
The surviving people of the territory stood at the edge of the ruins. They stared at the unrecognizable, utterly destroyed land that was once their home, and many broke down in tears.
Raylo strode forward, slowly making his way into the ruins.
He stepped onto the damp, still-warm Scorched Earth.
He looked at what was left of Black Stone Castle—nothing more than a few broken walls—and a complex emotion flickered in his eyes.
There was heartache and regret, but more than that, there was a resolute light, stronger than ever before.
He turned to face the thousands of survivors behind him, the dazed people and Knights of his territory.
He declared in a loud voice.
"My people!"
"I know you have lost your homes."
"I know your hearts are filled with grief and confusion."
"But!"
Raylo’s voice suddenly rose in pitch and volume.
"Lift your heads! Look at who is with us!"
Everyone subconsciously looked towards the sky.
The Golden Giant Dragon circled in the sunlight, like the sun at dawn.
"We have lost our homes, but we have not lost hope!"
"A Black Stone Castle has fallen, but in its place, we have gained a powerful Guardian!"
Raylo stretched out his hand, pointing to the vast ruins beneath his feet.
"Right here! Upon these very ruins!"
"We will rebuild our home. It will not be just a castle, nor just a town!"
A blazing fire burned in his eyes.
"We will build a new city—one that is grander and more Solid than ever before!"
"Its name will resound throughout the Northern Territory, and even the entire Continent!"
"It... will be called..."
"Black Stone City!"
