A moment later, the sound of heavy footsteps approached, growing louder and louder.

Kado’s mountain-like figure appeared at the study’s window.

This was an unspoken understanding between Raylo and Kado. Because of his immense size, Kado couldn’t enter the castle, so they usually spoke through the study’s floor-to-ceiling window.

"My Lord, you were looking for me."

Kado plopped down in front of the window.

"Kado," Raylo ordered.

"Assemble the Giant Legion. We gather outside the castle in one hour, after breakfast."

"Yes, My Lord!"

Kado nodded, the sound a dull thud, and then turned to leave.

Watching Kado’s departing figure, Raylo’s gaze grew deep once more.

He went to the top of the castle, where Sun was sleeping soundly in the morning light.

Beside it, three smaller figures were chasing each other playfully.

Moonlight, in the form of a large white cat, was batting at a feather she’d found somewhere.

Coal Ball, meanwhile, was trying to ambush Moonlight with spatial jumps, but each time, Moonlight anticipated his move and swatted him back with a light flick of her tail.

As for Lightning, he wasn’t interested in their roughhousing.

He was lying next to Sun, curiously watching a flying insect. Every now and then, he would poke at it with a claw, a faint arc of electricity sparkling at his fingertip.

Seeing Raylo approach, Sun opened its eyes.

Raylo walked up to it and reached out, stroking the warm, hard scales under its chin.
