Chapter 971: Chapter 969: It

Finally, they saw a beam of light ahead.

This beam of light shot straight into the heavens above, obscuring the sense of reality.

However, as the two approached, they were shocked to discover that this beam of light was actually a gigantic river!

A river that flowed into the sky!

The thick white mist and the roaring river water emitted beastly growls.

The river flowed in reverse, rushing into the heavens, such a fantastical scene rendered Chu Hao and Li Yin speechless.

The great river flowed, shrouded in white mist, like a fairyland, leaving viewers in awe.

"A river flowing upstream, this place is truly miraculous," Li Yin exclaimed, his jaw nearly hitting the ground.

As they drew closer, however, they saw a different scene that sent chills down their spines.

In this river lay countless people, from all walks of life, some wearing ancient clothing much older than historical garments.

They were in the river, flowing upwards into the sky, destination unknown.

Li Yin shivered, asking, "Mouse, what, what’s going on here?"

Chu Hao also felt uneasy because he noticed that these people were still alive.

They were in the river, eyes open, looking forward as they flowed upwards.

Chu Hao pondered and said, "Why don’t we grab one and ask?"

Li Yin agreed.

Thus, Chu Hao approached the great river; the current was incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye, people drifted far away.

Chu Hao focused on the river, and with quick reflexes, he threw out the Ghost-whipping Whip, ensnaring a "person" and forcibly dragging them out of the river.

It was a woman, clad in attire from no known historical era; once pulled out, she gazed impassively at Chu Hao and Li Yin.

"What are you doing?"

Her first question.

Communication was possible.

Chu Hao asked, "Where are you all going?"

"Rebirth."

Chu Hao and Li Yin exchanged glances, curious.

Li Yin asked, "Going where for rebirth?"

"Illusory Realm."

The woman responded crisply, without any concealment.

Illusory Realm?

Chu Hao and Li Yin found it strange, never having heard of any Illusory Realm.

Li Yin eagerly said, "We’re lost and want to leave the Rebirth Realm."

The woman replied lightly, "You? I’m afraid that’s not possible."

"Why?" asked Chu Hao and Li Yin.

The woman pointed behind them, saying, "It’s by your side; you can’t go for rebirth unless you shake it off."

Chu Hao and Li Yin’s scalps tingled as they turned around, but there was no "it" to be seen.

Not even a ghost shadow in sight.

Li Yin trembled, "Don’t scare us. Besides us, there’s no one else here."

The woman shook her head, seemingly correcting Li Yin, "It isn’t human."

Chu Hao was also horrified, having heard Zhang Lili say that there was someone behind him, but he couldn’t see it.

Could it be that others could see it while they couldn’t?

Chu Hao asked, "Why are you going for rebirth, are you living or deceased?"

The woman said, "Deceased, heading to the end of the Rebirth River for reincarnation."

Li Yin’s eyes widened.

Chu Hao remarked strangely, "Can one reincarnate in the Rebirth Realm? This isn’t the Six Reincarnation Paths of the Underworld."

The woman said calmly, "Where do you think the deceased ultimately go?"

Li Yin said, "Deceased naturally go to the Underworld for reincarnation, where else?"

The woman replied, "Deceased in the Yin Cao Netherworld don’t count as dead."

Chu Hao asked, "Then what kind of people are truly dead?"

"Returning to nothingness, soul scattering."

Chu Hao was shocked, realizing that only complete soul dispersal meant being dead.

Soul scattering meant nothing remained, right?

Turning to nothingness, disappearing from the world, unable to reincarnate.

Chu Hao felt he was close to some truth but couldn’t grasp the key point.

The woman said, "Alright, I’m in a hurry."

She plunged into the river and disappeared.

Li Yin quickly said, "Grab another one and ask."

Chu Hao also felt so; he grabbed another one.

However, except for the previous woman, everyone else appeared dazed, unable to speak, or communicate, resembling puppets.

Li Yin was dumbfounded, "What on earth is happening?"

Chu Hao pondered, "That woman must be special."

Li Yin asked, "Should we follow the river, go to rebirth?"

Chu Hao shook his head, "Do you wish to reincarnate anew?"

Li Yin shook his head, clearly unwilling; if he really reincarnated, would he still be himself?

Chu Hao took a deep breath, "Moreover, the woman also said something is following us, making us unable to proceed to rebirth."

They couldn’t see anything around them, but those approaching them could see the so-called "it," which was bizarre.

Chu Hao said, "I don’t believe that there’s absolutely nothing in this world."

Leaving the Rebirth River, they flew swiftly over mountains.

Li Yin pointed ahead, exclaiming, "What’s that!"

Chu Hao saw it too.

Ahead was a gigantic gate, suspended high in the sky, surrounded by mist, real yet unreal.

This gate was enormous, taller than mountains, not just a thousand meters?

At least ten thousand meters.

Chu Hao approached quickly, seeing a procession below moving forward, marching towards the gate, forming a long dragon.

From afar, Chu Hao saw the people in line, guarded by strange figures all around.

They stood three meters tall, dressed in ancient white robes, wielding strange curved swords, escorting this group of people.

"Let’s take a look," Li Yin suggested.

"Don’t go."

Li Yin asked curiously, "Why not? They might know a way to leave the Rebirth Realm."

Li Yin turned to look at Chu Hao, only to see his face slightly pale.

Li Yin asked curiously, "What’s wrong with you? Are you uncomfortable?"

Chu Hao took a deep breath, watched warily, "Just now, it wasn’t me speaking."

Li Yin was suddenly chilled, his hair standing on end, and body weak, if it wasn’t Chu Hao speaking, then who was it?

Ghost Demon!

Indeed, something unseen was with them.

Chu Hao said, "Aren’t you going to come out?"

The other party didn’t answer.

Chu Hao said, "If you don’t, we’ll go there."

Li Yin asked, "Really going?"

"Let’s go."

They swiftly approached the procession, hiding; the figure earlier said not to go, surely for good reason, maybe this procession wasn’t friendly.

Especially those three-meter-tall figures with strange curved swords on their backs.

The strange man dressed in white robes, with a conical head, one eye emitting an eerie red glow, looking like a high-tech robot at first glance.

Chu Hao and Li Yin hid in the shadows, watching a man walk wearily and unconsciously break away from the line.

As a result, the white-clad figure drew out the curved sword and decapitated him, blood spurting everywhere.

The two were startled; the white-clad figures were too ruthless, simply straying from the line got one killed.

Li Yin whispered, "It seems they’re escorting these people to the gate."

Chu Hao asked, "What’s inside that gate?"

Li Yin said nothing, knowing Chu Hao wasn’t asking him.

But asking.

That "thing."

Or perhaps.

Ghost Demon!

The voice sighed deeply, but said no more.
