Chapter 528: Chapter 435: The Prophesied Doomsday

In the super base.

Lu Li returned with a very serious expression.

Seeing this, Shen Xia, who was originally chatting with Nuwa, hurriedly asked, "Lu Li, what’s wrong with you?"

Lu Li frowned and looked at her, "I want to ask you something."

Shen Xia nodded seriously with a grave expression, "Go ahead."

Lu Li asked, "Do you believe there are aliens in this cosmos?"

Shen Xia pondered for a moment, then answered, "From the perspective of the origin of human life, the scientific community believes that life only appears on planets surrounding stars that emit light and heat. Although not all stars necessarily have planets, the currently observable cosmos by humans has reached a diameter of 93 billion light-years, with a number of stars potentially much more than the grains of sand on Earth. Therefore, personally, I believe that from a probabilistic point of view, there should be alien life and even high-level alien civilizations in the cosmos."

Lu Li asked again, "If we assume alien civilizations truly exist and can navigate spacecraft or launch probes to reach the solar system, what level do you think this alien civilization might be?"

Shen Xia pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "If we follow Nikolai Kardashev’s classification of cosmic civilizations proposed in 1964, a civilization that can travel from another star system to our solar system would at least be a stellar civilization, which is so-called a Type II civilization. They are even approaching the level of a galactic civilization or a Type III. Generally, we think of the early stage of a Type II civilization as one where a wise species can immigrate between nearby star systems, with operational range roughly within 10 light-years. Only when they are on the brink of a galactic civilization, or having reached that level, can they conduct basic navigation throughout the Milky Way Galaxy."

Lu Li was still unsure of the level of the civilization he encountered and asked carefully, "If they were a Type III civilization, how fast would their spacecraft need to be?"

Shen Xia shook her head, "A Type III civilization is believed to be unlikely because in our hypothesis, the starting mark of a Type II civilization is the ’Dyson Sphere’—capable of harnessing all the energy from a star. They use this as a springboard to expand their civilization across the star realm of the Milky Way Galaxy in tens of thousands or even fewer years. For example, their spaceships could easily approach the speed of light, or even open spatial channels between stars for long-distance interstellar jumps."

Hearing this, Lu Li carefully analyzed.

According to Shen Xia, the alien civilization he encountered was very likely beyond the initial stage of a Type II civilization but did not reach the brink of a Type III civilization.

Why say so?

Because Lu Li learned that the speed of the opponent’s probe was 30,000 kilometers per second.

Although this type of probe may be one of the more rudimentary devices in their civilization, it indicates that the civilization’s technological level does not exceed this by much.

Thirty thousand kilometers per second sounds impressive.

In fact, the distance of one light-year is over 94.6 trillion kilometers.

A spacecraft like this would take roughly 3.15 billion seconds to travel one light-year.

Converted to Earth Days, that’s 3,645 days, nearly ten years.

The difference from a spaceship at light speed is tremendously vast.

Lu Li assumes this cosmic race has faster spaceships.

For example, if it could travel at 100,000 kilometers per second.

It would still take more than three years to travel one light-year.

Therefore, he deduces that the cosmic race’s civilization level could be below 2.5. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Lu Li was deep in thought, given that the civilization level is not high; dealing with them should be simple.

Shen Xia asked curiously, "Why did you suddenly ask this?"

Lu Li did not hold back and truthfully said, "When I just went out, I might have discovered a cosmic race whose civilization level has reached a stellar civilization."

"Ah!?"

Shen Xia was taken aback and seemed quite in disbelief.

Lu Li continued, "Moreover, I suspect this cosmic race might have designs on the solar system. For example, the gamma-ray burst ’foreseen in the future’ hitting the solar system might have been created by this cosmic race with a high probability."

Shen Xia inhaled slightly, her tone trembling a bit, "If such a cosmic race exists and has designs on the solar system, our current human technology cannot possibly resist such an invasion, especially given your speculation that they have mastered powerful weapons that can create gamma-ray bursts. It would be incredibly easy for them to annihilate all life within a star system."

Lu Li smiled, "It’s okay, isn’t that why I’m here?"

The initially horrified Shen Xia instantly felt relieved upon hearing this.

She smiled and said, "True, we have you. So, how do you plan to deal with this cosmic race?"

Lu Li shook his head, "I haven’t yet tracked their movements. If it is indeed confirmed that they made the gamma-ray burst and I manage to track their whereabouts, then I will destroy their civilization without hesitation."

...

On the other side, on the battleship.

Commander Moras and a group of technicians were utterly astounded.

They watched Lu Li’s seemingly "frail" figure on the video, each of them looking shocked and speechless.

It wasn’t until a young technician exclaimed, asking if Lu Li was a "god," that everyone snapped out of their horror.
