Yet, one day after school, Zheng Ying cornered her.
"Lin Wanwan, did you spread rumors about me and Mi Yunzhi?" Zheng Ying glared at Lin Wanwan with reddened eyes.
Not bothering with politeness, Lin Wanwan replied, "I only spoke the truth, while you’re the one spreading rumors about me. How do you have the nerve to stand here and accuse me?"
Zheng Ying pointed at her several times, sneering, "Fine, just you wait, I’m not done with you!"
With that, she turned and ran off.
Qi Bingqiong was with Lin Wanwan when they left school, witnessed the whole thing, and immediately said to Lin Wanwan, "I’ve heard that senior guy has been asking her to return the luxury gifts he gave her.
You know what? Her well-off family background is all an act; all those bracelets and lipsticks were gifts from others."

Their cohort is the last to separate arts and sciences; the next will start the new college entrance exam without such divisions, requiring new rules that no one knows yet which will benefit students more.
A week after Zheng Ying threatened Lin Wanwan, while biking home from night study, Lin Wanwan followed her usual route through the alley to save some time.
While turning the corner, two people suddenly jumped out, and one of them kicked over her bike, causing Lin Wanwan to tumble into the alley.
"Are you Lin Wanwan, that annoying girl? You know you’ve made some mistakes recently, right?"
In the dim light, their folding army knives gleamed menacingly.
Though it was late April and the weather was getting warmer, Lin Wanwan wore a short-sleeve t-shirt under her spring-fall school uniform, which was quite thin. The fall scraped her knees and palms.
Ignoring the bike, she bit back the pain and stood up with her back against the wall to prevent a sneak attack.
