[Note: I’ll definitely be back!!!]
They watched as the Black Trojan squeezed into the mortar barrel and used an L‑shaped wooden stick to light the fuse,
and with a deafening boom,
the Black Trojan shot out of the command hall in full view of the dumbfounded PPDC staff, turning into a streaking meteor,
while the mortar itself vanished without a sound.
Thump.
The Black Trojan landed lightly and steadily on Eureka Raider’s shoulder. Without a word he rolled up his sleeves, causing blue‑green circuit‑board‑like lines to surface along both arms.
He jammed both hands into the gaps of Eureka Raider’s Shoulder Armor and unleashed the Special Skills taught only inside Whale Song: [Cyber Martial Arts · Emergency Repair Fist].
Zap, crackle.
Blue electricity and green data streams seeped into every corner of Eureka Raider, urgently repairing the parts of the Mecha damaged by the Electromagnetic Pulse.
"Estimated repair time... 30 seconds..."
The red cybernetic eye in the Black Trojan’s left socket clearly projected a digital countdown.
The Mecha architecture of this world was far more complicated than he’d imagined; it needed more time to fully restore Eureka Raider.
But the Deep Sea Monsters wouldn’t give him that chance.
Not far away,
the Ridgeback Turtle slowly closed the Electromagnetic Pulse organ on top of its head, slammed both fists into the seabed,
causing a minor tremor while its massive body barreled forward.
Shit.
The Black Trojan’s heart tightened,
the Capini Mech piloted by Dawn had previously been hit in succession by the A.T. Force Field and toxic smoke and was still on its way,
and Gypsy Danger, piloted by Raleigh Becket and Mori Masako, had only just exited the Broken Dome Fortress.
Reinforcements were far away, the battle was critical,
was he really going to abandon this only active Fifth Generation Mech, one of the biggest helps in this scenario quest?
Just as the Black Trojan hesitated,
the Deep Sea Monster was already upon them.
The Ridgeback Turtle, as if knowing the Black Trojan was here to repair and rescue, charged in savagely,
both fists smashing straight toward Eureka’s shoulder—and the Black Trojan standing on it.
Time seemed to slow down,
the Black Trojan could make out every mottled patch on the Deep Sea Monster’s armor plates, every corded muscle,
even the raindrops drifting down from the sky were crystal clear in his vision.
Bang!
Just a second before the Ridgeback Turtle’s twin fists came crashing down, that familiar revolver round sounded by his ear again.
Li Ang’s figure snapped into existence above the sea. In his right hand he gripped an oversized Heart Monkey Staff, and in his left he cradled the half‑man‑tall Pineal Organ,
his body shrouded in a faint golden A.T. Force Field,
as he swung the Heart Monkey down at the Ridgeback Turtle’s incoming fists.
Boom—
Their golden force fields collided and canceled each other out,
the Heart Monkey Staff shuddered violently and was knocked back, slamming into the sea and almost flying out of Li Ang’s grasp,
since this time he had no leverage point and the Ridgeback Turtle’s raw physique far outclassed the agile Tail Rat’s.
But correspondingly, the Ridgeback Turtle’s charge also hitched, both arms raised high.
"Uuurgh—"
The Ridgeback Turtle stomped on the seabed, rebalancing itself, its orange‑yellow eyes staring at Li Ang and at the Pineal Organ in his hand that had clearly just been ripped out of the Tail Rat’s skull.
"You mad?"
Li Ang stepped on invisible steps, ascending into midair, and calmly said to the Ridgeback Turtle, "Seeing your companion killed, disassembled, flayed, stripped for parts, wrung dry of value, used up.
Or maybe you don’t feel angry at all, since you’re just tools anyway..."
The instant he finished the last word, Li Ang had already thrown up his A.T. Force Field and was swinging the Heart Monkey Staff down on the Ridgeback Turtle again and again.
Their Golden Shields clashed violently,
churning the entire sea into motion and kicking up wave after wave of tsunamis.
The Ridgeback Turtle’s hide was thick and flesh tough; it tanked the Heart Monkey’s brute-force blows head-on, its arms trying to grab Li Ang,
but Li Ang used his Cloud Ascending Ladder skill to dart and weave in midair, dodging nimbly and always keeping their distance right at the boundary of their A.T. Force Fields, never letting himself get too close and fall under the influence of the opposing A.T. Force Field.
Whenever the Ridgeback Turtle tried to ignore him and go after the shutdown Eureka Raider,
Li Ang would close in again, bring the staff down, and firmly pin the Ridgeback Turtle in place.
That Pineal Organ... so Li Ang really took out the Tail Rat?
The Black Trojan watched Li Ang solo kite the Ridgeback Turtle, momentarily dazed, though his hands never stopped moving,
and he soon finished repairing Eureka Raider.
[System reset complete!]
Electronic Mechanical voices echoed inside Eureka Raider’s cockpit, and the electric injuries on the Hansen father and son were healed along with it by the Black Trojan’s skill.
"Command Center, we’re back!"
The Hansen duo shouted excitedly. Just as they were about to join Li Ang to completely take down the Ridgeback Turtle,
they saw Li Ang stomp the air in rapid succession and blink straight out of the combat zone.
"Huh?"
Not only the PPDC crew, but even the Black Trojan froze. "Brother Li, you..."
"Eureka Raider, you guys take it from here."
Li Ang put away the Heart Monkey Staff and shook out his hands.
A human body still had too many limitations: too light, too weak.
"Huh?"
The Hansens in the Raider’s cockpit were stunned,
they’d already tested it earlier— even with the Raider’s strongest armament, the six‑linked AKM Anti‑Monster 2X90 missile launcher,
they hadn’t been able to pierce the Ridgeback Turtle’s A.T. Force Field, let alone kill it outright.
And now they only had a pair of fists...
Was this seriously not a joke?
"Recall your own memories. I’ve already told you the method."
Li Ang didn’t waste words. He simply backed off to a safe distance and handed the battlefield over to the Ridgeback Turtle and Eureka Raider,
and the Black Trojan, seeing this, followed suit and used a skill to leave the area.
"This..."
The Hansen father and son looked at each other, confused about what exactly Li Ang meant,
and with no more harassment restraining it, the Ridgeback Turtle slammed the sea surface in rage and turned toward Eureka Raider.
"We can only go in."
The Hansens exhaled a long, heavy breath in unison, raised the Mecha’s arms into a Fighting stance,
and their minds, through the Drift Flow System, completed the neural link once again.
"Huh???"
This time, they immediately sensed something was off,
memory fragments kept bubbling up in their minds one after another,
filled with all sorts of bizarre, surreal images.
Some of those memory scenes they definitely had never experienced, and yet they felt so vividly real...
"Raider? Raider?!"
In the command hall, General Stake barked into the mic in a low, heavy voice,
Right after Li Ang finished saying that the Hansens should deal with the Ridgeback Turtle themselves,
the Eureka Raider suddenly froze up.
Not only did its raised arms drop down, even the A.T. Force Field covering its body vanished without a trace.
"What’s going on? Raider, can you hear me? Answer me!"
General Stake slammed the table hard, but got no response at all. That helpless feeling of the situation gradually slipping out of control surged through his body once again.
"Roooaaar..."
The Ridgeback Turtle narrowed its eyes, staring fixedly at the Eureka Raider that had suddenly stopped moving, its arms hanging down,
looking just like a real gorilla,
circling half a lap around the Raider, Carefully Cautious.
It could feel that some kind of change was taking place inside this Mecha, and it had no idea if that was good or bad...
The Ridgeback Turtle’s brain pondered for a few seconds, then finally made a decision.
It directly cranked its A.T. Force Field to maximum and punched straight at the Raider’s head.
At this distance, in this short a time,
in the Ridgeback Turtle’s projection, even if the Raider activated its A.T. Force Field, after taking this punch it would definitely be badly damaged, maybe even flat-out crash and shut down.
However...
Smack!
The Eureka Raider, which had been motionless just a second earlier, suddenly raised its arms and grabbed the Ridgeback Turtle’s thick wrists,
clamping down like iron pincers, locking the Ridgeback Turtle’s arms in place.
Impossible??
The Ridgeback Turtle’s pupils shook. It tried to yank its arms back, only to find they wouldn’t budge an inch.
Corresponding to that, the Eureka Raider’s body was now wrapped in clearly visible, dazzling golden light.
"Ohm Index, the Raider’s Ohm Index is up to 30, 35, 40, and still rising!"
In the command center, Chief Technical Advisor Cai Tiantong stared at the constantly fluctuating data on the screen, utterly shocked. "What’s going on?
Mecha can’t just evolve on their own!
This has already exceeded the design limits we set for the Eureka Raider!"
The so‑called Ohm Index, Humes, was the unit used by human civilization in the Deep Sea Monster World to measure the strength of an A.T. Force Field.
Through reverse-engineering the essence of the Pineal Organ, the scientists of this world proposed a hypothesis:
Reality, or the physical laws as understood by the general public,
is like a pile of sand, not necessarily evenly distributed through space.
The lower the Ohm Index, the more evenly spread the physical laws are, the more "normal" things are.
The higher the Ohm Index, the more stacked the physical laws become, and the more heavily reality is distorted.
At an Ohm Index of 0, everything is normal, calm as still water.
At an Ohm Index of 10, some phenomena that violate physics start appearing, like objects floating into the air.
At an Ohm Index of 20, the distortion becomes much more obvious: fire can burn under water, and of two identical heavy objects, one will hit the ground ahead of the other.
When an A.T. Force Field’s Ohm Index reaches 30,
(which is usually also the standard for a Category 4 Deep Sea Giant Beast)
many of humanity’s common-sense rules break down. Shells and missiles can suddenly change course, and lethal nuclear radiation that could kill any living thing loses all effect.
On the Black Trojan out on the sea, having read part of the PPDC’s classified files, he was just as shocked as the people in the command center—
the player’s real-world Earth had a similarly brand‑new scientific concept akin to the Ohm Index.
The stronger a player was, the greater their ability to alter reality became, and the higher their Ohm Index rose.
It was effectively a new standard for measuring a Transcendent’s power.
But now, what on earth had happened
to let the Eureka Raider break through its design and hardware limits and acquire an A.T. Force Field beyond all expectations?
Could it really be like Li Ang said—that he just casually said a few words, and somehow gave the Hansens the ability to go berserk?
This made zero scientific sense!
Crack, crack.
The Eureka Raider slowly increased the strength of its grip,
the Ridgeback Turtle tried to fight back, but still couldn’t escape its fate of being overpowered—the difference in A.T. Force Field strength between the two sides had already flipped.
"Hmhmhmhahaha, hmhmhmhahaha!"
All of a sudden, completely out of nowhere, with no build‑up at all,
the Raider’s broadcast system blared out a young man’s manic laughter.
Chaq Hansen, in clear, textbook-standard Mandarin tinged with a bit of Port City’s local accent, laughed loudly at the Ridgeback Turtle: "Nonsense! You damn loser of a monster,
you really think I’m still the same me I used to be?
If you want to defeat me, you’re nowhere near qualified yet!"
???
The moment he said this, everyone was dumbfounded, whether it was the Pacific joint defense force officers in the command center, the helicopter pilots in the sky, the PPDC brass watching from remote observation posts, or the Black Trojan and Dawn,
all of them turned into statues.
Chaq Hansen was a textbook Australia-born white guy who’d been recruited into the PPDC because of his father and trained as a pilot. He didn’t speak Chinese, much less Port City’s local dialect.
Where the hell had he learned such impassioned Mandarin?
"Ku-jie ku-jie, a tiger father begets no dog son,"
before the shock from the last line had even subsided, the Raider’s broadcast system now carried Kelly Hansen’s equally ridiculous Port City–accented Mandarin: "My son Chaq truly has the makings of a Great Emperor!"
???
Hearing this, everyone’s eyes almost popped out of their heads.
Kelly Hansen had always been mature and steady, reliable and composed.
You, with your thick brows and "honest comrade" face, how did you also suddenly go off the rails?
"Father, you flatter me!"
Chaq Hansen spoke in a perfect villain tone, brash and arrogant: "Brothers fight tigers together, fathers and sons charge into battle as one.
Father, today let’s make this monster taste our undying wrath!"
"Good!"
The father and son shouted in unison: "Electrical Light Poisonous Dragon Drill!"
Controlling the Mecha, they yanked hard on the Ridgeback Turtle’s wrists, then lashed out with a flying kick that smashed into its waist and belly, actually punting it into the air.
Bang!!!
The Ridgeback Turtle’s body plowed up waves as it crashed down. The Deep Sea Giant Beast, stunned half to death by the impact, staggered back to its feet,
only to have the Eureka Raider close in on it again and slam a punch straight into its face.
"Dragon Tyrant Fist—Raging Dragon Reveals Its Fangs!
Earth Killer Fist—Thousand Autumn Slaughter!
Sky Frost Fist—Frost Scars A Thousandfold!"
Through the broadcast system, the Hansens called out these inexplicable Cyber Martial Arts move names in ringing Mandarin, while the Raider just threw one perfectly ordinary punch after another, brutally beating on the Ridgeback Turtle,
smashing the skin on its face open and sending blue blood spraying.
"Father, you are truly strong and mighty, strong and mighty!!!"
"My son, you’re not bad yourself—quite reminiscent of my own youthful valor, hahaha!"
The inexplicably fired-up father and son carried out an inexplicably over-the-top battle.
Under everyone’s dumbstruck gazes (Li Ang excluded), they actually pummeled the Ridgeback Turtle’s face until it literally cracked apart.
"Father, it’s almost at its limit!"
"Mm. Then let’s finish it with that move!"
Never mind how everyone was ragingly roasting them in their hearts, wondering what exactly "that move" was supposed to be,
the Hansens raised their right arm high and slammed a punch into the Ridgeback Turtle’s face, caving its entire face inward into its skull.
As electric arcs crackled, the Deep Sea Giant Beast’s entire facial skin blew apart,
and the Ridgeback Turtle moved no more.
"Final move: Thunder Gallop Fist—Five Thunder Bomb."
Chaq Hansen coolly and suavely announced the final move’s name—read as Thunder Gallop Fist, written as "Type 4211 Iron Fist Electroshock Device"—
then lowered his fist, dropped the Ridgeback Turtle’s corpse, and lifted his head to gaze at the rain-cleared night sky.
He said calmly, "This monster was no ordinary foe.
What a pity—geniuses always die young."
