Chapter 469: Chapter 4: Eight-Wind Torrential Rain

Caution was to be expected, but why the greed?

Westheid mulled it over for a moment and understood.

’It was coveting his ass.’

Duke Qinghui’s Charm had always been immense. Now, in his state of Bright Radiance Manifested in the World as he began his ascent to the Supreme Divine Realm, it was off the charts. Dragons are inherently lecherous; a member of the Dragon Race would find him utterly irresistible, desperate to ravage him on the spot.

Even though Westheid had fully revealed his Demigod aura, Wings of Death still had its member unsheathed.

’Fucking hell, we’re on a battlefield and it’s still thinking about that? What a horny bastard with a death wish!’

Westheid flew into a rage. It wasn’t that he was offended by a Dragon coveting his ass—how many millions, or even tens of millions, in the Mortal World had filthy thoughts about Duke Qinghui? And though his ever-expanding list of achievements had caused many of the vulgar rumors about him selling his body to fade, even more deranged literature had sprung up to take their place.

What truly angered him was that Wings of Death dared to look at him as if sizing up a trophy. That was a sign of disrespect for his power! ’You think you can... defeat me?’

"Heh," Westheid sneered. "For all your posturing, your eyes don’t show the proper attitude toward a Powerhouse. You disrespectful beast. I’ve heard the Dragon Race respects the strong. Is this how you show it?!"

"ROAR... Is that so? Perhaps," Wings of Death replied. "But a Powerhouse exists to indulge their desires. Otherwise, what’s the point of being strong?!"

Wings of Death reluctantly retracted its greedy gaze and began to channel Magic through its claws once more.

Westheid actually agreed with that sentiment, but it didn’t conflict in the slightest with his annoyance at Wings of Death. Duke Qinghui took a deep breath and unleashed a straight slash with Shadow-Born, which he had been charging in his left hand.

Crackling with pale lightning and a red aura, Shadow-Born vibrated rapidly, emitting a shriek that drowned out the thunder. The piercing sound waves even caused the surrounding space to tremble violently.

Streaks of crimson spread out in every direction. These waves of energy, formed from biting Divinity and Magic Power, were like tangible torrents of blade wind, stirring up a ceaseless storm that surged back toward the Black Dragon.

While there was a vast difference in their physical size, the same could not be said for the blades of pure energy. A Giant Dragon’s massive body, tens or even hundreds of meters long, granted it immense physical strength and Magic Power reserves, but it also made it impossible to dodge such an overwhelming onslaught of energy blades.

Westheid could have ignored the spell from Wings of Death, but the Ancient Dragon was unwilling to take the injury. It had no choice but to cancel the Magic it was preparing and rapidly fly backward to create distance.

But how could Westheid allow it to pull away so easily?

A clap of thunder exploded, and a ring of white vapor formed in the air. But before the sound even registered, the Warrior’s figure had vanished, reappearing in front of Wings of Death.

He brought his sword down in a single slash.

"SHRRRIIIP—"

With a deeply satisfying tearing sensation, Shadow-Born, held in both of Westheid’s hands, sliced open a large patch of the Black Dragon’s chest Scale Armor. Scorching hot Dragon Blood sprayed across the sky.

"ROOOOAR—"

The Black Dragon let out a pained howl and roared at Westheid:

"Human! Do you seek a battle to the death?!"

Westheid laughed maniacally.

"Ha? Aren’t we already enemies? Since you dared to strike, you should have been prepared to kill or be killed!"

He dug the blade deeper into Wings of Death’s impossibly tough Scale Armor.

"So, let’s fight! I’m going to chop you into mincemeat, piece by piece!!"

Westheid could see every fine line on its body. This Legendary True Dragon of the Dragon God’s True Blood was covered in countless scars, all of them well concealed by its black scales.

Just then, the Black Dragon’s amethyst eyes fixed on the tiny human figure on its chest, and strange syllables issued from its mouth.

"!!"

Feeling a sudden surge of Magic Power, Westheid couldn’t help but turn to look.

"BOOM—"

High in the sky, amid the dark clouds, a black-and-red star suddenly appeared. The star rapidly expanded, then exploded. Hundreds of Flying Dragons and fighter jets were incinerated by the aftershock. The remaining blast wave scattered the clouds for kilometers around, and raging air currents formed several temporary tornadoes. Countless low, enraged wails of agony echoed through the atmosphere.

The black Ancient Dragon unhesitatingly transformed into a streak of light and sped into the distance. It dove cleanly into a thick layer of clouds, then swiftly vanished among the aerial fortresses.

Suspended in mid-air, having only managed to land that single slash before it fled, Westheid stared wide-eyed at the Shadow-Born in his hands. The blade still pulsed with a residual crimson glow, emitting terrifying vibrations.

He was instantly enraged at being cut off mid-fight.

"That fast? Wait, how can you just run away?!"

Wings of Death’s retreat completely deflated the battlelust that had just begun to swell within Westheid. Nothing like this had ever happened when he fought Scorching Wings. That one had valued its dignity more than its life and fought to the bitter end!

Reiya flew up from behind, glanced at the fleeing dragon, and said:

"Perhaps that’s what makes the Dragon God’s True Blood so special. They can overcome the instincts of their bloodline."

"That’s true."

Westheid nodded in understanding. Those with the Dragon God’s True Blood really were different. If she truly followed her instincts, Reiya wouldn’t be so restrained; she would have long since become even more insatiable than Mivana.
