Chapter 466: Chapter 2: I Can Be a Divine Chosen Too
"Of course. After preparing for so long, I was completely confident. I’ve finally caught up to you two. The rest is up to you, but I imagine it won’t be long before you catch up."
Westheid said with a smile.
Advancing to Demigod meant he had officially taken a great stride along the Ascension Ladder. From here, all Westheid lacked before Ascension was a period of consolidation. When destiny arrived, it would be his time to ascend.
The Demigod realm itself wasn’t excessively demanding. For a T0-level Powerhouse, it was an achievable goal. After all, in terms of Talent, the two of them were far superior to him.
Mivana said with great solemnity, "We definitely will."
Westheid’s power now exceeding hers gave the Wolf-eared Maiden a sense of crisis. She was the Knight King’s Chief Knight! ’It’s one thing not to be stronger than the Knight King, but I can’t be weaker than Westheid, can I? Otherwise, I wouldn’t even be qualified to protect him!’
"Ahem, you two. Apologies for interrupting, but the Expeditionary Army is ready to depart. Shall we tend to this matter first?"
Just as Westheid was speaking with his two lovers, a heroic-looking woman in a military uniform walked over with a smile.
"Legion Commander Alexia... you’re right. Let’s take care of business first."
Westheid glanced at the Imperial Legend, whom he had met once before, and then walked forward.
In the center of the hall, a Celestial Vault Person was floating above the ground, meditating with his body supine. He only opened his eyes when Westheid approached, and orderly, rectangular glimmers of light appeared on his skin.
"My... Lord... Duke Qinghui, you’re finally here."
The Celestial Vault Person before him was none other than Jing Mu, the one Westheid knew, who had provided the Qinghui Territory with all sorts of technical equipment.
He was also the one Westheid had duped with the [Mask of Fallen Heaven].
"What is this about...?"
Jing Mu’s expression was weary and ashamed. He lowered his head and said:
"I am terribly sorry to interrupt your mission, but the Celestial Vault Kingdom... truly needs your aid. To that end, I have informed the elders of your identity."
’What identity... What the hell, don’t tell me you still believe that whole "Chosen One of the Azure Heaven Venerable Master" thing?’
Westheid was a little dumbfounded. When he had first tricked Jing Mu, he had only been thinking of getting some technology from the Celestial Vault Kingdom. He figured Jing Mu would eventually come to his senses and doubt his identity as the Divine Chosen. But after the barrier between gods and mortals arose, it didn’t matter anymore, since Jing Mu couldn’t come down to find him.
And yet, here he was, having actually come down to find him.
Westheid fell silent for a moment before saying:
"I see... Let’s set off first. We can talk on the way."
Regardless, this Expeditionary Army, poised and ready, was definitely going to the Celestial Vault Kingdom. They couldn’t wait a moment longer.
"Yes. With you joining us, I can finally report the completion of my mission."
The Celestial Vault Person nodded, ended his meditative pose, and took out a communication device to whisper a few words. The several Floating Battleships on the highest level immediately began to ascend; these were the ships from the Celestial Vault Kingdom’s fleet.
The Imperial commanders, who had been waiting for a long time, also left the hall one after another, rushing to their own warships to follow and begin this great expedition.
As the fleet prepared to depart, Westheid had a brief conversation with Jing Mu and got the full story.
Between the [Temporal Chaos], the Chaos invasion, and the recent intrusion of a Dragon Group, the Celestial Vault Kingdom had fallen into its most critical and difficult moment. At such a time, Jing Mu could no longer care about his agreement with Westheid and informed the elders of his Clan about the existence of the "Divine Chosen."
The Floating Cities that could still unite ultimately decided to request aid from the Divine Chosen and sent Jing Mu, the point of contact, as their emissary.
Little did they know, this move sent the entire Mortal World into an uproar.
As the oldest and most powerful nation in the Mortal World, the Celestial Vault People were its undisputed masters. Generally speaking, they would rather die than stoop to ask the "mud-dwellers" on the ground for help. This was precisely why the entire terrestrial Mortal World was abuzz with excitement over the Celestial Vault Kingdom’s plea for aid.
They were all used to the arrogance of the Celestial Vault People and saw them as true overlords. But if even the masters in the sky had to swallow their pride and ask for help...
The sky must be falling!
Terrified, the Imperial government hastily organized the Expeditionary Army. While there was certainly an element of wanting revenge on a mortal enemy, it was driven more by a sense of unease. This time, something big was really on its way!
But in reality, the Celestial Vault Kingdom’s request for aid was directed at Westheid alone. Seeking help from the Divine Ancestor’s Divine Chosen wasn’t considered shameful. The other Earthlings were just an incidental bonus.
"We originally only intended to seek your help, but after the Imperial Citizens heard about it, they insisted on coming along. Considering that the Dragon Race is indeed the Imperial’s mortal enemy, we didn’t object,"
Jing Mu said apologetically to Westheid, all the while observing the latter’s expression, afraid that this "Divine Chosen" would think the Celestial Vault Kingdom didn’t trust him enough because of this.
Westheid, however, didn’t mind. The more power the Expeditionary Army had, the better. Even if they did nothing, they would be excellent for holding the line.
The problem was... could this Divine Chosen identity of Westheid’s hold up?
Duke Qinghui said without hesitation, "The situation is so critical, so as the Venerable Lord’s Divine Chosen, I must do my best! Although I cannot pray to the Venerable Lord and receive a response at this time, it is my duty to fight the Great Chaos Enemy and save the Celestial Kingdom from the brink of collapse!"
’I can love the Celestial Vault Kingdom, too! I can be the Venerable Lord’s Divine Chosen!’
’It’s the same old story. All I have to do is keep up the bluff using the artifact from the [Master of Extinction]. The entire Celestial Vault Kingdom probably doesn’t even know if the [Venerable Master of the Azure Heaven] actually exists. I can make up whatever story I want, right?’
’The [Venerable Master of the Azure Heaven] might react, but it’s highly unlikely that the [Venerable Master of the Azure Heaven] will react.’
’Just march right in with confidence!’
Upon hearing this, Jing Mu’s face filled with gratitude and excitement:
"Wonderful! As long as you take action, everything will be alright."
In the short time they had been talking, all the fleets of the Expeditionary Army had finished their preparations. Everyone who needed to board had boarded, and supplies had been stockpiled long in advance. Everything was just waiting for the signal to depart.
"In that case, may your fortunes in war flourish."
After offering her well-wishes to Westheid and the others, Sylvia left the main control platform and returned to the Imperial Capital.
As the Imperial Regent King, she naturally couldn’t accompany the Expeditionary Army to another kingdom. She had been busy coordinating and dispatching forces this whole time, already doing everything in her power.
"HUMMM—"
The Floating Fleet, a truly colossal force in the context of the entire Mortal World, began to ascend one after another. The leading warships from the Celestial Vault Kingdom had incredibly beautiful and exquisite forms. Compared to the Imperial warships, their movements were noticeably smoother, like living creatures, without the slightest hint of jerky movement.
Traveling from the terrestrial Mortal World to the Celestial Vault Kingdom wasn’t a simple matter of gaining altitude. The Celestial Vault Kingdom didn’t just float above the nations on the ground—how could something so simple reflect the nobility of the Celestial Vault People?
To enter this most prosperous and flourishing Realm of Order, one had to pass through a Gate of Ascension. Back when the Star Gate System was still functional, a direct teleportation was possible with permission from a Floating City. Now, however, they could only rely on a native to lead the way.
After leaving the Imperial Capital, it took the fleet a full day and night of travel to finally reach the border of the Celestial Vault Kingdom.
Ah, you ask why it took so long?
Don’t ask. The sky of the Mortal World is just that high. There is no such thing as an atmosphere; the vastness of the sky is simply unimaginable.
"RRRRIP—"
The tips of several Celestial Vault Battleships seemed to tear at a curtain in the sky, ripping open a Barrier constructed of Spirituality.
The fleet then poured through in an orderly fashion, officially entering the domain of the Celestial Vault Kingdom.
Westheid stood before the flagship’s observation window, took a deep breath of the sweet, free air of the Celestial Vault Kingdom, and said to his companions with a smile:
"We’ve reached the highest kingdom in the world! It’s gorgeous, everyone! Come check out the Floating Cities in the distance!"
However, the words had barely left his mouth when Westheid sensed something was wrong. The others showed no signs of novelty or awe; instead, their faces were filled with shock and hostility.
One Imperial commander’s eyes went wide as he roared:
"Dragon scourge!!!"
