Chapter 405: Chapter 31: Let a Demon Fight a Demon, a Hero Handle a Hero
"A gathering? Don’t tell me another member of the Royal Court’s Elf Royal Family has invited you to a salon? Just so we’re clear, I’m not participating in one of your orgies."
Luyetan declared, touching the rim of her cup with a fingertip.
It wasn’t that she was being possessive; she simply didn’t want others to see her in such a disgraceful state.
Before this Monster, Westheid, she could never maintain a dignified bearing. Her eyes would roll back, her tongue would loll out—the whole embarrassing process would unfold.
Luyetan had come to fully realize this in her dreams over the past while, so much so that she barely had the courage to meet the man’s gaze.
Well... she herself didn’t actually mind the feeling of being thoroughly marked and conquered. In fact, it brought her an immense sense of security and satisfaction. But the thought of anyone else seeing her like that was unbearable for Luyetan.
"What in the world is going through your head? Are you the strange one, or am I? That’s not the kind of gathering I was talking about."
Luyetan sneered.
"Ha? Duke Qinghui, what are you on about now? I’m just making a deduction based on your usual behavior. Isn’t this exactly what you spend all your time doing here in the Central Royal Court?"
’He couldn’t really argue with that. The evidence was irrefutable!’
Westheid shrugged. "You’re not wrong, but this time is different. I’ve come to fulfill my promise to you. It’s about your Enchanter Bloodline—don’t you want to get rid of it?"
Upon hearing this, Luyetan’s expression immediately grew serious.
"Didn’t you say you’d have to gain control of the Thousand Laws Ceremony to do it?"
"The Thousand Laws Ceremony is just a control console. Before we can use it to achieve anything, we first need to understand what we’re working with. That’s why we need to consult someone who knows the true nature of the Enchanters."
Luyetan nodded and took a sip of her black tea.
"So, you’re saying we need to find a Scholar who studies the history of the Enchanters? That’s strange. Here in the Thousand Laws Royal Court, such research must be the ultimate taboo. Would anyone really study something like that?"
Westheid replied, "Of course, it wouldn’t be anyone from the Royal Court. They wouldn’t dare touch the subject. Across the entire Mortal World, there is now only one being who truly understands the Enchanter Race: the Master of Greedy Banquet."
Hearing this, Luyetan licked her lips thoughtfully and smiled.
"The Master of Greedy Banquet... another one of Emperor Qianlu’s shadows, is it? I recall she occupies the most prosperous area in the southern part of the Royal Court. Are you saying a Demon invited you to visit?"
"To be precise, the invitation was for the Ring of Clear Skies Witch... but it doesn’t matter. It’s perfectly fine to bring a few extra people. She won’t mind; in fact, she’ll be delighted."
Westheid shrugged.
"To presume to understand the mind of a Celestial God’s Shadow... you’re quite confident, Duke Qinghui."
"This is one of the few things I’m confident about."
’Westheid wasn’t the least bit worried. His precognitive advantage was slowly eroding as the age of conflict unfolded, and the future had already diverged completely from the path laid out in the *Poem of Destiny*. However, some fundamental principles would never change. He knew very little about the Demon’s Frenzy Banquet, but as it happened, the Master of Greedy Banquet was the one Demon he understood best. In fact, from Westheid’s perspective, this powerful yet reasonably friendly Celestial God’s Shadow was a rare being one could actually talk to, perhaps even ally with.’
"Alright. If you’re that confident, I won’t press the matter. Does this mean the Master of Greedy Banquet is an expert on Enchanters? Or do other Demons know about them too, and you just picked the most approachable one?"
Seeing Westheid’s unwavering confidence, Luyetan’s first instinct was to trust him, not to question something so incredible. It just went to show that the "always right" Duke Qinghui had long established his credibility. Even Luyetan, for all her sharp-tongued retorts, fundamentally believed in him.
"She is indeed approachable, but no other Demon understands Enchanters nearly as well as the Master of Greedy Banquet. After all... this particular Demon is probably the only Enchanter left in this world."
Westheid casually dropped a bombshell.
"She’s also the purest-blooded Enchanter, because she is a legitimate child of Emperor Qianlu. Yes, his biological daughter."
Luyetan gasped in disbelief. "A child of a Celestial God?!"
"Don’t be surprised. This is also recorded in the *Song of Melody Ensemble*."
Westheid said calmly.
"We both know Emperor Qianlu came from the Enchanter race. They were an extremely rare people to begin with. During the Unification War, because the Emperor made so many enemies, his race was brutally annihilated. However, Emperor Qianlu himself was the sole exception, and before all that, he had a biological child who managed to survive."
"And that survivor is the Master of Greedy Banquet. Almost no one knows Emperor Qianlu had such a mysterious child. As an Enchanter, she perfectly inherited her father’s Talent. However, she was later absorbed through Soul Fusion, so no one paid her any mind. The mixed-blood Enchanters you find in the Royal Court today? It’s possible their bloodline was passed down from the Master of Greedy Banquet."
"To think something like that happened..."
Luyetan decided not to ask how Westheid knew all this. She lifted her fair chin and said:
"Alright, Duke Qinghui, you’ve successfully piqued my interest. If you think it’s appropriate, I see no reason why we can’t attend the banquet together. However, as a Celestial God’s Shadow, isn’t the Master of Greedy Banquet supposed to be a great enemy of the Royal Court right now? Is it really okay to be communicating with a Demon?"
