Chapter 143: Master of Immortal Emperors
At present, the Imperial Calamity was still only a Great Tribulation.
The Immortal Emperors still had a sliver of hope.
But if it evolved into an Endless Tribulation, then every Immortal Emperor in The Infinite Realms would likely be reduced to ash.
Caelum’s casual remarks left Violetsun Immortal Emperor feeling as though a veil had been lifted from his mind.
From the very beginning, everything had started because of the Longevity Elixir.
If the karmic knot could be resolved here and now, and the other Immortal Emperors stopped interfering, perhaps the Imperial Calamity would simply pass.
At that moment, Caelum added,
"I was only making conversation. Don’t take it too seriously."
Violetsun Immortal Emperor’s expression shifted.
Then he said,
"Regardless, it is still a possible way to survive the calamity. It’s worth trying. Otherwise, The Infinite Realms may truly be doomed."
A Great World had already been destroyed while this was still only a Great Tribulation.
If things continued to escalate, what would become of The Infinite Realms?
Would the entire cosmos be reduced to ruins?
Caelum nodded in admiration.
"You carry the fate of countless worlds in your heart, fellow Daoist. I respect that."
"You flatter me."
Violetsun Immortal Emperor smiled faintly.
"I still haven’t learned your name, fellow Daoist..."
When he looked again, Caelum was already gone.
He had vanished so naturally that it was as though he had merged into the Great Dao itself.
There had been no warning, no trace, no disturbance.
Violetsun Immortal Emperor’s heart trembled.
This man’s cultivation was anything but ordinary.
Whoosh!
A streak of emerald light shot across the Starsea.
Its speed was so overwhelming that even Immortal Emperors could do nothing to stop it.
Several Immortal Emperors tried to intercept it.
None could keep up.
Others attempted to use imperial techniques.
Yet each technique was shattered in advance by an innate Divine Power.
The result was infuriating.
They could only watch as the streak crossed the battlefield unhindered.
The Immortal Emperors who had tried to stop it immediately drew the attention of Longevity Immortal Emperor and the others.
Had their allies not intervened, they might have fallen on the spot.
Soon after, several more streaks of light crossed the battlefield.
All of them landed on the same fragment of a shattered world where Violetsun Immortal Emperor sat.
His surprise only deepened.
The divine lights dispersed.
Jadewind and the others appeared.
They were none other than the fellow disciples of Longevity Immortal Emperor.
Jadewind stepped forward politely.
"Senior Violetsun, did someone come through here a moment ago?"
Violetsun Immortal Emperor nodded.
"There was indeed a fellow Daoist."
Stillwater frowned.
"Senior Brother, what’s wrong?"
A hint of joy flashed through Jadewind’s eyes.
"It was probably Master."
"Master?!"
"Has Master ascended to The Infinite Realms as well?"
The disciples were immediately delighted.
Meanwhile, Violetsun Immortal Emperor’s eyes widened.
That mysterious man was their master?
A chill ran through him.
No wonder the man possessed such unfathomable cultivation.
No wonder he had been able to raise ten disciples capable of shaking all creation.
A trace of regret surfaced in his heart.
He should have asked for the man’s name.
After hesitating for a moment, he asked,
"Fellow Daoist Jadewind, may I ask your master’s Dao title?"
Jadewind shook his head.
"Forgive me, Senior Violetsun. I cannot reveal it."
"I was too presumptuous."
Violetsun Immortal Emperor sighed.
In the end, he still had not learned the man’s identity.
Soon after, Jadewind and the others joined the battle.
Immortal Kings challenged Immortal Emperors head on.
The pressure on the Immortal Emperors of The Infinite Realms increased dramatically.
Every one of them had once been capable of injuring Immortal Emperors while still in the Immortal King Realm.
The power of their innate Divine Powers was second only to that of Longevity, Oblivion, and Gracewing.
Each was fully capable of contending against an ordinary Immortal Emperor.
The war dragged on.
A thousand years passed in the blink of an eye.
Despite being surrounded by dozens of Immortal Emperors, the ten disciples still managed to kill several of them outright.
As Immortal Emperors fell, multiple Great Worlds mourned.
The sight left countless observers terrified.
Since the beginning of the Age of Imperial Calamity, Immortal Emperors had finally begun to die.
For a time, panic spread throughout The Infinite Realms.
Countless Ascendants lived in fear.
If the fighting continued, they genuinely feared that all of The Infinite Realms would be shattered.
"The Age of Imperial Calamity... this is destiny!"
"The Infinite Realms are finished!"
Some Immortal Kings cried out in despair.
Violetsun Immortal Emperor wanted to save The Infinite Realms.
Unfortunately, he lacked the power to stop the war.
By now, imperial blood stained the Starsea.
No one could halt the conflict any longer.
He let out a long sigh.
His heart was filled with helplessness.
Meanwhile, Caelum watched the destruction of the Age of Imperial Calamity unfold from afar.
Within the Sea of Transcendence.
Aurelius gazed down at the River of Time and clicked his tongue in amazement.
"I haven’t seen a spectacle like this since the Primordial Age. Your disciples are truly something else."
Their innate Divine Powers were especially outrageous.
They swept across The Infinite Realms almost unchecked.
Looking across all ages, only the Primordial Script Characters wielded by the Kings of the Primordial Age could rival them.
Caelum sat at the bow of the lone boat, holding a fishing rod.
There was nothing to catch in the Sea of Transcendence itself.
He had once tried fishing from the River of Time beneath its waters.
Every so often, certain figures would leap out of the river like fish.
Unfortunately, none ever took the bait.
Even now, he had yet to catch anything.
"They were raised by my own hand," Caelum said.
"No matter how poor their talents might have been, they could never have turned out too badly. If they lacked even this much ability, how could they call themselves my disciples?"
"Disciples..."
Aurelius looked at him.
"Have you ever truly treated them as your disciples?"
From his vantage point on the Sea of Transcendence, he had seen everything clearly.
Back in the Celestial Arc Realm, Caelum had already laid plans stretching into the distant future.
By his own hand, he had pushed the Age of Imperial Calamity to its absolute peak.
He had transformed a Great Tribulation into an Endless Tribulation.
The fate of the Age of Imperial Calamity had long been decided.
And yet no one in the present era knew he was the one behind it all.
Everything had unfolded so naturally.
There wasn’t the slightest trace of deliberate manipulation.
Acting without acting.
Accomplishing everything without force.
To the world, he was simply the Worldbreaker Physique Divine Physique.
The man who had entered The Infinite Realms and swept through the Eternal Forbidden Lands.
The man who had finally ended the ancient karmic feud between the Worldbreaker Physique and the forbidden lands.
Nothing more.
Even so, plans were plans.
Caelum replied,
"I have always regarded them as my true disciples, never as pieces on a board."
"Their destinies were already written. That is the Dao."
"I merely chose to make use of it."
"There is some truth in that."
Aurelius nodded.
A breeze swept across the water.
Caelum vanished.
Cosmosreach World.
He arrived in a vast and desolate domain where life scarcely existed.
A single strand of Dao aura descended.
In an instant, the boundless earth shook violently.
When the dust settled, a bottomless abyss stretching billions of miles had appeared.
Activating the Secret of Transcendence, Caelum waved a hand.
An endless ocean poured forth.
Boundless Primal Essence flooded into the abyss, filling it completely and transforming it into a limitless sea.
Then he raised a hand.
Bladeleaf flew from his sleeve and settled above his palm.
With another gesture, he sent it into the sea of Primal Essence.
Buzz!
Dao resonance rippled outward.
An invisible restriction descended upon the endless sea.
Only Bladeleaf was permitted to absorb the Primal Essence.
Everything else was forbidden from receiving its nourishment.
As far as Caelum was concerned, the Age of Imperial Calamity was already over.
He intended to remain dormant until the next era.
The State of Effortless Freedom continued operating on its own.
The Hidden Vault Worlds continued deducing and evolving the Myriad Daos.
Even in seclusion, his cultivation and Realm would continue to rise.
