Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Storming the Building

Luoxue quickly scanned the surrounding buildings. Her eyes landed on a seven-story office building covered in frost, and she shouted.

"Quick, run to the right! To that office building!"

Jing Chuan hurriedly led his people toward the office building.

Luoxue raised her gun and fired a few targeted shots forward.

BANG! BANG!

One player hiding behind a flower bed was picked off and killed. Another was scared back into cover.

Soon, Jing Chuan, leading Long Ming and the others, rushed into the office building’s lobby.

The inside of the building was a complete mess, with snowdrifts everywhere.

This office building had four elevators and one emergency stairwell.

However, the power was out, so the elevators had long been useless.

Just then, footsteps suddenly echoed from upstairs. A middle-aged man holding a single-shot rifle charged down the stairs, running right into Long Ming and his group.

Jing Chuan raised his gun and sprayed at him.

"Ah!"

The middle-aged man was killed instantly.

"Quick, upstairs!"

Luoxue decisively led Long Ming and the others up the emergency stairs to the second floor.

At this point, Jing Chuan said, extremely frustrated.

"What do we do now? Those guys are about to surround us."

He never expected to run into so many solo players in an invitation-only instance. And it wasn’t just that they ran into them; this bunch had specifically targeted them.

He had been playing Civilization Paradise for so long, yet this was the first time he’d been besieged by solo players. What’s more, these people were acting like madmen, dead set on killing them.

If they were from a rival guild, it would have made sense, but they weren’t.

In truth, this situation had arisen mainly because the major guilds were clearing out instances, severely squeezing the solo players’ space for survival.

Of course, the conflict was more complicated than that. Survival was already difficult in the real world. Now that there was finally a place to make money, many people had gambled everything they had for a shot, only to lose the shirts off their backs. How could their resentment not be immense?

"Prepare to defend the stairs."

Luoxue said in a cold voice.

"Huh? With just the few of us?"

Jing Chuan was dumbfounded. Defending the stairs offered a huge advantage, it was true.

But they only had three combat-capable people left. The rest of the Rat Group had poor fighting skills. Besides, if too many of them died, who would carry the loot out?

The rewards also needed people to carry them. Otherwise, they were useless even if they were right in front of you.

Hearing Jing Chuan’s words, Luoxue grew a little irritated. She turned her head to look at Long Ming, who was mixed in with the Rat Group.

She saw Long Ming squatting among the Rat Group, his body shivering nonstop as he tried to warm himself up.

He wasn’t afraid of the heat, but he was terrified of the cold.

At this, Luoxue’s expression turned frigid as she watched the shivering Long Ming. She walked over to him and threw an MP7 submachine gun and two magazines in front of him.

Long Ming instinctively raised his head, looking at Luoxue in a daze.

Beside him, Cloud Fish and Tang Yue jumped in surprise.

Then, Luoxue spoke in a cold voice.

"You shouldn’t be hiding in the back."

Tang Yue and Cloud Fish looked at Long Ming in shock. ’The Boss actually knows him.’

"Sigh..."

Long Ming sighed helplessly. ’I can’t even slack off for a second.’

Luoxue scanned the second floor and saw that there were numerous office desks and metal cabinets placed around.

She immediately said to everyone.

"Come help me move these desks and cabinets together."

"Okay!"

Cloud Fish and the others immediately stepped forward to help.

Soon, once everything was ready, Luoxue gave her next order.

"Rat Group members, go upstairs!"

Cloud Fish and the others immediately scrambled up to the third floor.

Just then, Zheng Shi, leading He Mo and the others, charged to the bottom of the stairs. He immediately heard a loud commotion from the second floor.

"Boss, they’re on the second floor! Let’s go up and wipe them out!"

He Mo said, about to charge up.

Zheng Shi grabbed He Mo and cursed irritably.

"Are you stupid?! It’s obvious they’re going to defend the stairs. You’re just rushing up to your death."

"Then what do we do?"

He Mo immediately understood.

"Do a count. How many grenades do we have?"

Zheng Shi asked everyone.

He Mo and the others all took out their high-explosive grenades.

Zheng Shi counted them up. There were five high-explosive grenades in total. He then instructed He Mo.

"He Mo, take some men and throw the grenades onto the second floor."

"You got it!"

He Mo immediately took a few people to get ready.

Zheng Shi turned his head to his companions beside him and shouted.

"Listen up! The moment you hear the explosions, charge! There are so many of us, we have nothing to fear!"

"Understood!"

Everyone shouted in unison.

Just then, He Mo led his men outside. They raised their guns and sprayed a volley of bullets at the second-floor windows.

BANG! BANG!

Window after window shattered.

Then, they pulled the pins on their high-explosive grenades and threw them forcefully onto the second floor.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A series of violent explosions erupted.

"Charge!"

Zheng Shi waved his hand, ordering the men below to rush up.

His companions charged bravely up the stairs.

But just as they reached the landing on the stairs...

Grenades came rolling down. Their eyes widened in shock.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"Aargh!"

Six players were blown to bits on the spot.

He Mo charged in with his men and was stunned by the sight.

Zheng Shi was practically exploding with rage. He roared furiously.

"Dammit, charge!"

Everyone surged forward.

Soon, they successfully broke through to the second floor.

The entire second floor was a wreck, littered with the remains of blasted office desks, but there wasn’t a single enemy in sight.

Just as they were wondering what was going on...

Jing Chuan and Tao Wang leaned out from the landing between the second and third floors and sprayed a hail of bullets at them.

BANG! BANG!

"Aargh!"

Two players were hit and fell to the ground.

Zheng Shi and his men immediately raised their guns and returned fire.

Jing Chuan and his partner quickly ducked back into cover.

"They’re on the third floor! Charge!"

Zheng Shi shouted to his companions.

As they prepared to charge toward the third floor...

BANG!

Long Ming and Luoxue emerged from left and right, popping out from behind metal cabinets. Using the cabinets as cover, they simultaneously opened fire on Zheng Shi and his men.

BANG! BANG!

"Aargh!"

Six players were mowed down.

"Fuck, it’s an ambush! Get back downstairs!"

Zheng Shi and his men retreated in terror.

Before long, they had retreated back to the first floor in a sorry state.

"Boss, what now?"

He Mo said, swallowing hard, the fear still fresh.

Zheng Shi scanned his surroundings.

After those two failed assaults, they had lost 14 men. Adding the one they lost outside, they were now down to just 15 people.

"Throw smoke grenades! I refuse to believe we can’t kill them."

Zheng Shi had grown vicious.

"Right!"

He Mo and the others immediately took out smoke grenades and threw them up the stairwell.

One after another, smoke grenades landed on the second floor.

HISS...

Thick smoke instantly began to fill the area.

Long Ming and Luoxue glanced at each other. With perfect tacit understanding, they both rushed toward a window, vaulted over the sill, and jumped out.

"Charge!"

At that moment, Zheng Shi was leading his men up the stairs.

Long Ming and Luoxue charged in through the office building’s main entrance, spraying bullets at the players who hadn’t made it up the stairs yet.

"Aargh!"

Six players were mowed down instantly.

He Mo shouted in a daze.

"Boss, they’re hitting us from behind!"

"Dammit, push forward!"

Zheng Shi could only bite the bullet and lead his men onward and upward.
