Chapter 396: Bella

[First World — Two Months Ago.]

[Night Time.]

A fragile circle of flickering warmth was all that kept the oppressive, foreign darkness of Galaxy Fall at bay. A group of five sat huddled around a small, sputtering campfire, their figures casting long, distorted shadows against the jagged rock formations of the wilderness. They were a team thoroughly bruised and pushed to their absolute limits; their low class leather armors were worn out and gashed from claws, their shields were severely dented, and the edges of their blades were visibly cracked.

"What should we do now, Boss?" One of the ladies asked, her voice heavy with physical exhaustion as she tended to a deep gash on her arm. She turned her gaze toward the muscular man leading their ragtag expedition.

The Boss stared deeply into the dying embers of the fire, running a rough hand over his scarred face before finally raising his head to look at the four people sitting before him.

"Our guild took the task from the association. We must hit the black wolf alpha." He said, his deep voice carrying a stubborn, unyielding weight. "We can’t just pull back now."

"But we only have one day left." Bella said, her voice a little shaken as she nervously clutched her wooden staff. She was the only dedicated mage in the entire group, which meant she also shouldered the staggering burden of being their only Healer.

Bella had already repeatedly warned the Leader that this A-rank mission from the Galaxy Association would be a suicidal endeavor for a team of their caliber. But their leader just had to rush forward, driven by desperation. Not to mention, none of them had even reached Level 30 yet, while the elusive Black Wolf Alpha was a deadly Level 30 Boss Monster possessing insane agility and lethal hunting instincts.

"We can still do this?!" The Leader insisted, leans forward as his grip tightened on his knee. "We already know exactly where their hidden hideout is! If we plan carefully and attack again, we will definitely win!! Look, you need to understand, this mission gives a staggering five thousand gold coins! We simply can’t afford to miss out on this opportunity! If we succeed, each one of you will receive one thousand gold coins each!"

The Leader paused, a confident smirk breaking through his exhaustion as he looked around the circle, trying to reignite the fire in their eyes. He continued:

"All of us are from Earth. Although we came from different countries—just like Bella here, who’s from Korea, and myself, I am from Brazil! We are all from one home planet, but in different worlds, if you understand what I am saying!" He took a deep breath, his expression turning solemn.

"We escaped to the realms of Galaxy Fall because our planet is under catastrophic attack. No country was spared from the devastation... If we manage to hoard enough gold coins, we will finally be able to build our own forces here, and one day, return to our world and take it back! This is my ultimate goal! And I need enough gold coins for it!" He added, his chest heaving with the weight of a displaced survivor’s ambition.

"But if you die, all this grand ambition will be for nothing." Bella pointed out softly, her upbringing refusing to buy into blind optimism when their lives were actively on the line.

"I won’t die! I have my trusted team to protect me, besides... We haven’t lost a single person from the very start!" The Leader added, the arrogant smirk returning to his face as he tapped his chest piece.

"Okay, then when exactly do you plan to attack the alpha again?" A young man asked. From his distinct accent, you could easily tell he was from India, his gaze assessing their remaining supplies.

"I don’t know, Brother... That’s precisely why I gathered you all around here tonight. We are a team, so we should decide the timing of this strike together." The Boss said, turning his gaze back to them.

"What’s all this nonsense, Niggers?! Come on! We should just burst into that fucking motherfuckers’ base and fry all those motherfucking monsters! Nigger!" The third man in the group suddenly yelled out, aggressively taking a heavy drag of his cigarette and blowing the smoke into the night air.

"Hey men!! You heard what the fuck I just said! Sitting here ain’t getting us nowhere! Let’s go right now, and fuck them up!" He added.

"....?!"

The other four teammates stared at him, completely dumbfounded by his sudden, unhinged outburst.

"You are literally the weakest amongst us, how exactly do you plan to... Um... Fuck them up?" Bella asked, staring at him with a mixture of bewilderment and slight annoyance.

"Oh! That’s extremely easy, baby girl! We jump straight into their turf, and we burn absolutely everything around them! It’s that easy! Yeah, we lost the first fucking battle! But we fucking killed half their goddamn numbers, so killing the rest ain’t a problem! You get what I’m saying, Niggers?" He asked, waving his cigarette around as he stared back at their stunned, unblinking faces.

"What’s up, yo! Why you all staring at me like I’m crazy?! I am saying the absolute truth here!" He added, completely unfazed by their judgment.

"Ahem! Okay, Randi! We get your... unique plan... What about your thoughts, guys?" the Boss asked, coughing slightly to clear the awkwardness as he turned his attention back to the Indian man.

"We should be exceptionally careful." the Indian man stated, ignoring Randi’s bravado. "I say we launch the counter-attack tomorrow morning, maybe around 6:00 AM."

"Why exactly around six?" The second lady asked, staring at him curiously while sharpening her chipped dagger.

"Canines have incredibly sharp eyes, especially under the cover of night. But around that specific dawn hour, there will be a dense fog covering the whole valley place. We can simply use it as natural camouflage to our advantage." He explained.

"Hmm... Not bad. I second that plan." The second lady nodded her head in agreement, appreciating the logic.

The Boss slowly nodded, digesting the strategy, and turned his eyes toward Bella, waiting for her crucial input as their primary support line.

"Umm... I go with the safest way! Sorry, Randi." She said, offering an apologetic glance to the man while choosing the path that ensured they all lived to see another day.

"I understand. Better to be alive than not." Randi nodded his head in respectful agreement.

"Gosh, how I wish I was a member of the elite Ghost Guild." The second lady said with a small, wistful smile, looking up at the foreign stars. "I wouldn’t be out here running around in the dirt... I would just sit back safely and watch the legendary Leader deal with absolutely everything."

"Hey! Are you indirectly saying that I’m weak?" the Boss asked in genuine shock, his pride as an Alpha male taking a direct hit.

"You’re weak. There is absolutely nothing to hide about it." She added flatly, her brutal honesty stunning the Leader into a silent pout.

".....?!"

BAM!!

The very next moment, the massive, blood-soaked corpse of the Black Alpha Wolf violently smashed heavily before them, landing right beside the campfire with a dull thud. The impact sent glowing sparks flying into the air and caught the entire group of five completely off-guard.

In an instant, the playful banter vanished. They shot to their feet in perfect synchronization, drawing their cracked weapons and raising their shields.

"Who the hell did that?!" The Leader yelled, his muscles tensing as he hoisted a huge, heavy battleaxe before him.

"Leader, look... This is the exact Wolf we’re after!!" The Indian man exclaimed in pure shock, his eyes wide as he stared at the unmistakable, terrifying maw of the dead Black Wolf Alpha. The beast that had nearly wiped them out was now nothing but a discarded carcass.

"How is my present?"

The five companions sharply turned their gazes toward the dark path ahead, watching intently as a solitary lady calmly walked out from the dense, unnatural darkness of the woods.

"Who are you?!" The Boss asked, stepping forward with his battleaxe raised, instinctively placing his large frame in front of his team to block them from potential danger.

"I am Nadia!! It’s nice meeting you all." she said with a sweet, perfectly composed smile, bowing lightly to them as if she hadn’t just dropped a high-level apex predator at their feet.
